I was thinking just what you said. I do get pumped about skydiving, but there are so many things that are also priorities.....often higher on my priority list. I'm not *scared* about jumping, but I try to be realistic about the risks, given that I have a young son and am a single mom. What's great is that you don't have to give anybody anything. What's yours is yours to do with as you please. When I give what is mine, it's because I want to. Money is an easy thing to give. While money can make your life easier, it's virtually, in itself, meaningless. If I have some cash on hand that I really don't NEED and that same amount of cash can make a dramatic difference to a friend, then there's no question of what to do with that cash. It's much better spent where it will make a dramatic difference, imho. Then there are people who are forever looking for somebody to pick up their slack. I'll keep what's mine in those circumstances. But there's no sense getting bent out of shape about it. What's mine is mine. I can choose what to do with what's mine. But I also believe in "what goes around comes around." I don't think that it's irresponsible for people to jump without insurance. It's a choice that each of us has to make based on our priorities and responsibilities in life. I only find it irresponsible if that person without insurance has some expectation that the rest of us will donate for medical bills when things go awry. I don't have insurance right now, and I'm not jumping. Mostly that's because I have a young child though. The financial risk, if I were to get hurt, is too big right now. If I didn't have a little one, then I'd probably jump with or without insurance. As far as paying for hospital bills yourself if you're injured??? They just don't ride wheelies cause 99% of them can't. How long have you even been riding street bikes? Not even a year right? I'm not trying to offend you but what do you really know about motorcycling culture? Sometimes, to me (not that you care) you sound like a 50 jump wonder when it comes to street bikes. Get some experience before you start making generalizations. And before you ask, i have been riding streetbikes for over 10 years (since I was 17) and I ride at least 300 miles a week for 7 months out of the year in DC area traffic. And I have friends that ride every type of bike. I don't like generalizations about my fellow riders (including you)... I started riding in 1976 and got my first street bike (cruiser) in 1986. To me, though Dave may sound like the 50 jump wonder who packed (ahem) for a few years before riding, you sound like the 400 jump wonder who wants to put him in his place (not intended to offend). Shrimp. Very, very GOOD shrimp. I've been told many times that it's the best shrimp that (insert name) has ever eaten. Buy peeled shrimp with the tails on. Boil them in beer with hot sauce (I use Louisiana Hot sauce) and Creole seasoning. Mix up a dipping sauce using Ketchup, horseradish, and Orange Marmalade. It is to die for! Easy and tasty. I'll see what else I can think up. I've got the most WONDERFUL spinach artichoke dip, that's different than your typical spinach artichoke dip. Mine gets 50 mpg on the road, which is good for my 45 mile commute. I bet billvon's car can almost beat it....lol.
