OH WOMAN!!! Of course I never get those "you need to eat more" comments because I have a propensity toward gaining weight. However, I try so hard to eat right and exercize so that I can stay in reasonable shape. It's hard. blah, blah, blah.... There are other things that I hear those "You should...." comments about though, and it DOES get on my nerves too. Be glad you're healthy. Be glad you can look good wearing anything. And by all means, don't let other folks' talk get you down.... Peace~ linz

Being a woman, I see that it is harder for us to be accepted. BS!!!! I've never found it hard to be accepted. Maybe you do, but I don't find being accepted problematic. The KKK wore silly hats and burned crosses - that was obviously designed to be intimidating to blacks. Absolutely. It would be less intimidating today, though, because the law no longer turns a blind eye. In years past, it was much more than a gesture when a hooded man burned a cross in a black person's front yard. That person would probably not be protected from what was about to happen to him. When someone burns a flag today, they might wish harm on our country, but the threat is not as immediately real. linz

Many of the medical benefits of quitting smoking are not down-the-road benefits, but are actually short-term benefits. A person with coronary artery disease who stops smoking, changes his diet, exercizes, and takes lipitor (lol), will likely see dramatic health improvement within the year. A person with early COPD/emphysema who stops smoking will not get better, but will likely not get any worse. That saves HUGE dollars in the short-term. linz

All flag-burnings are probably not equal. It could symbolize an "attack" on all Americans. It may just be a statement against our way of life. It could be a statement against our government's actions in/against another country. But I don't consider the burning of the American flag to be, across the board, an attack against all Americans. You're joking, right??? It's obviously okay with the people of Kansas....which has baffled me since they first intervened in the public schools' ability to teach about evolution. I would have moved out of that state without blinking an eye after that. I suppose that this provides a foundation for that decision after-the-fact. Heh.... Since we moved from central to south Arkansas last year, my son has noticed the dramatic predominance of redneck folk here....lol. Though I hate that we ever went into Iraq, I completely respect and admire our soldiers who selflessly defend our country. Part of what is being defended is our right to speak our minds. I'm sure you're right.... This thread started with a dead biker whose poor judgment endangered other people. Not only does a 700 lb bike travelling at 50 mph have the potential to harm people standing on the curb, but I don't care to see the outcome if I don't have to. Sure, soccer mom on the cell phone is usually as oblivious to riding as she is to skydiving. I don't think I'm exactly oblivious to either, but the point is legitimate. She may not know the difference between the rider showing off and the rider maneuvering to avoid the large obstacle that she just presented by pulling out without looking. BUT to treat other people on the road as though they are not affected by a biker's driving is not realistic. I see lots of people on bikes acting like damn fools, swerving in and out of traffic and going waaaay too fast. I have a right to comment when they act like damn fools around my car or my bike or my child on his bike riding down the road.... That's all I was saying....and I'd probably agree with what Dave was saying if it didn't strike me like it did. Peace~ linz

I don't condone or participate in asshat riding techniques, but until you are a rider, stfu, you don't know whats going on. Just like the bullshit static the media and general public gives to skydiving. May I have your permission to speak? I do love riding, but it's crazy to think that the soccer mom driving her kids in the big SUV should stfu when some asshat, out of control rider wants to make her and her kids look at his gore when he doesn't quite make the gap.... Anyone has a right to say whatever the hell they want to about any idiot driver, whether it's a bubble-head on a cell phone or a dumb-ass biker trying to do stupid things in traffic. (soccer mom here) Gotta show off a picture I took yesterday of my child on the harley....lol. He's "Star of the Week" in his classroom, and he had to bring 5 pictures of himself to school....fun.
