Personally, I went with the Olympus Camedia. It takes wonderful pictures, and Olympus is a very trusted name. A major difference between the two cameras is that on the Olympus, you can add different lenses, while it doesn't look like that's a possibility with the optio. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Olympus/oly_c750uz.asp You can't just look at megapixels... you also have to look at optics... how does the camera interpret depth of field? digital images traditionally appear flat compared to regular photographs, but the superior optics in the olympus minimize this issue. When I was camera shopping, I talked to my friends in the photography/film industry (I was working in the industry at the time), and every single one of them suggested olympus. I love my camera. Its not quite as compact as some of the other models, but definitely small enough to go anywhere.
