How inaccurate is a ProTrack when mounted in a helmet?
labrys replied to grue's topic in Gear and Rigging
Can you explain this in more detail? I don't see anything in my Neptune manual that explains why it can't measure speed correctly when it's in a helmet. If speed is measured as a change in altitude over time, then the only things that could cause inaccurate speed measurements are incorrect altitude readings or incorrect time measurement. Assuming that having the thing in a helmet won't affect it's timing, the only thing left that could cause incorrect speed measurements is incorrect altitude measurements..... Owned by Remi #? -

I tried to find a codec or free software to import .mov files into WMM a long time ago and ended up buying quicktime pro, which can export mov files to avi files. It wasn't very expensive. There may ne more options now, it's been a while. Owned by Remi #?

I'm going to chime in here even though I don't have much experience because I think my lack of experience actually goes to the point I'd like to offer. My overall flying skills didn't improve hugely between 100 and 400 jumps. Sure, I got better but not dramatically. I flew pretty well at 100 and I fly a little better now. What improved hugely was my overall awareness and attention to detail during a jump. At 100 I was concentrating really hard on my performance. At 200 I was starting to notice a lot more of stuff going on around me. At 300 I was noticing small details and starting to anticipate things. I think that basing a recommendation about whether or not it's safe to jump a camera helmet soley on how well you fly and how well you understand the additional risk is invalid unless you include the fact that adding the camera gives your brain one more thing to do during the skydive. Having just started jumping with a camera, I've noticed that some of the awareness I've developed over the last couple of hundred jumps gets hijacked by the camera. I didn't anticipate just how much of a distraction the camera can be. It seems simple enough... just put on the helmet then pretend it isn't there. But that's not the way it seems to work, at least not for me. Owned by Remi #?

50,000 challenge in USA today - Prove Income Tax Law
labrys replied to no7rosman's topic in Speakers Corner
And I'm saying "Dude, relax. Go to Nexus Lexus and spend about 5 minutes looking up some traffic laws. It's in there, including the intended definitions of road, car and driver as they pertain to the law" Your world might not be what you think it is, but my world is exactly what I think it is. No disrepect if you feel that someone is out to control your life and you want to protect yourself, it's just that I feel that I have control and I'm not inclined to worry about whether or not I actually have to follow posted speed limit signs because they are part some government consiracy to restrict my freedom. 50,000 challenge in USA today - Prove Income Tax Law
labrys replied to no7rosman's topic in Speakers Corner
The way I understand it, no one has been able to claim the money because the guy offering the money stipulates within his offer that he alone can determine whether or not the information he's givin is valid. In other words, all he has to do is say "I don't accept your proof" and he's off the hook. Owned by Remi #? -

Jeez, what horseshit. In Ohio, drivers are required to know the speed limits for different types of roads regardless of whether or not there's a posted sign. Even if the signs are there so that interstate drivers would know the local limits, it doesn't matter what the signs say and they always match the legal limits anyway. It's a mute point. Perhaps not to you, but to the collective, yes. Do soldiers really fight to "preserve" our freedom. Perhaps. Are women free to choose which jobs they would like to try to qualify for? No. Do women have the same freedoms as men? No. When will they get them? Perhaps when it's proven that they can do the jobs. So do we have to prove anything? Yes. Owned by Remi #?

Stick with SATA, but other than that look for a good buy. I like Seagate drives, but that's just me. Maxtor or Western Digital are good names. Owned by Remi #?

I haven't seen it but by all means, please go and consider yourself lucky to have it showing so close to you. I'd love to see it but the closest showing is 6 hours away. The more people who go see it now, the better chance it will be released in more theaters. So GO! Owned by Remi #?
