  4. I think that the USPA and the safety articles here might be a tad better than an anonymous forum but hey... that's just my opinion. Owned by Remi #?

  6. My first was at around 260 jumps. I had diving line twists on a hop n pop. I think a toggle came unstowed along with some line twists. I was on my back and there was nothing I could do to fix it, so oh well. Had to get help fishing my freebag out of powerlines, of all the places it could have landed. Forty jumps later I had new gear and the main risers got stuck in the rig. I couldn't figure that out either (I thought the risers were twisted behind my head at first) so away it went. I had a Skyhook on that one. It was nice not to have to go looking for the freebag.
  7. Yes. When someone asks me when I'm going to open, I give them the alti I'm planning to be letting go of my hackey. Owned by Remi #?
  8. In the section of the SIM that gives minimum opening altitudes, opening is defined as "container open" not "wave-off" Owned by Remi #?
  9. With the exception being that the coke still in your system prevents the dopamine from being reabsorbed by your brain/body and the fun juice is destroyed....leaving you feeling flat and depressed and, eventually, unable to produce more dopamine. When you jump the dopamine is reabsorbed instead of destroyed and you stay happier and healthier! Owned by Remi #?
  10. Heh. I don't think so, at least from the perspective of the original post. I think there are many interesting angles. It might benefit homosexuals in general in the long run. Once you prove that hormone therapy makes fewer people gay then you pretty much have to accept that homosexuality is inate and not a choice. Once you've accepted the trait as inate you start losing your excuses to deny people their rights because their "lifestyle" is a "choice" Not everyone would choose the therapy. Owned by Remi #?
  11. It doesn't have to be that black and white. It wouldn't be impossible to support both the gay and pro-choice approach. Being pro-choice doesn't mean that you have to encourage abortion, does it? Good pro-choice groups make an effort to present alternatives to abortion. I don't think that the hormone therapy sounds like a good idea and I'd be interested in making sure that the possible ill effects were clear to the mother and that the decision was made given all the information, but I could ultimately support the decision being the mother's, I guess. I hate the idea, but it's not an impossible situation for pro-choice homosexuals. Edit to add: I was just thinking about the ultra right religous types who think that any unborn child is a gift from God and should not be interferred with in any way. Given the opportunity to make sure they don't have gay children might present the same dilemma to them. Of course, they think that homosexuality all 100% choice so they don't need hormone treatments, do they? Owned by Remi #?
  12. Yup, you're right. I'm working off 2 pots of coffee over a day followed by several to-kill-yas and beer in too short a time G'nite to you Owned by Remi #?

  14. I think that only works for people who think that looking is a bad idea. Owned by Remi #?
  15. I called a friend of mine yesterday and got his voicemail. It had changed from the usual message to say "Hi, you've reached but I can't come to the phone right now because I'm making a lot of changes in my life. Please leave a message. If I don't return your call then you're probably one of the changes I'm making. If your friends are such a torment....... But somehow, I doubt that. Why complain for no reason? Owned by Remi #?

  18. I think Walt is a genius. He posts increasingly gross stuff until almost everyone is afraid to look at any of his links......but then he posts some faintly weird but more than bearable cool shit until everyone trusts him again. Can't wait to see what's next. Owned by Remi #?
  19. I just wondered... why is this video flagged as disturbing when the one with the guy hosing a microwaved pizza wasn't? Owned by Remi #?
  20. Wait, wait..... you should listen to this before you go to bed: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5527426 The average person has 20 times more microbes in their bodies than they have cells Sleep well and have a couple of raw eggs for breakfast! Can't hurt Owned by Remi #?
  21. Since the cause in this case appears to be eating, I guess you'll be safe.... Wait.... isn't the incubation period years or decades? You might already have a tapeworm in your brain. Think about that and go eat an undercooked steak for the hell of it! Owned by Remi #?
  22. Guess I"m with Walt on this one. That rocked and I don't see what's so gross about it... except for the general idea of having a parasitic cyst in my brain. Owned by Remi #?
  23. Ummm... considering some of the stuff that Walt posts this is pretty tame in that it's a medical video, it's really not that gross, and it's kinda fascinating. Owned by Remi #?
  24. That was awesome. How the hell does a tapeworm get into the brain? Owned by Remi #?
