  1. I wonder how many "instructors" believe this hyperbole.
  2. I doubt that this is a fact as you claim. A true comparison can not be made because alcohol and tobacco are legal and readily available and illegal drugs are not as easily attainable. If Marijuana were to ever become legal and sold everywhere like alcohol and tobacco, then a true(r) comparison could be made.
  3. If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life Never make a pretty woman your wife So from my personal point of view Get an ugly girl to marry you A pretty woman makes her husband look small And very often causes his downfall As soon as he marries her then she starts To do the things that will break his heart But if you make an ugly woman your wife you'll be happy for the rest of your life An ugly woman cooks meals on time And she'll always give you peace of mind http://www.lyricalcontent.com/98827/lyrics/jimmysoul/ifyouwannabehappy.html I love that song.
  4. No you don't. If you wanted safety first, last and only, you wouldn't be jumping, let alone swooping. How did you interpret "I want to be as safe as possible" to "If you wanted safety first, last and only"? Being "as safe as possible" does not equate to "I only want to do it if it is safe". Unless of course you are reading between the lines and making ASSumptions. Some people and their ego's make me laugh.
  5. That's what kind of group? Good job. You found a spelling error. You win.
  6. I don't get it...what part of the system "worked"? Secondly..."the pilot of the airplane decided to fly to Dublin anyway even after being told that an explosive was in his aircraft's checked luggage.' I mean WTF??????????????? The story should have read EX-pilot. The system "worked"???????????????? You have to subscribe to bill's idea of who comprises the system. It is his belief that every human being on earth is part of the government system.
  7. If not for the sake of the civility you ask for then to show you are above stooping to that level. One can not stoop to "that level" if they have never been above it. They can only continue with the same MO and personal attacks as is their nature.
  8. Don’t know why you even bother to respond to threads, based on your reputation you have no credibility anyway. You are simply a nuisance with some kind of kindergarten mentality making you seek out constant attention. So go away and do everyone a favor. I couldn't agree more. One look at his info. makes me disregard him completely. As a new jumper, I appreciate all of the helpful, serious, thoughful advice I read on this forum, but I realize some is just a crock. My main source of information is from the instructors and experienced jumpers at my DZ. Still, these discussions are thought provoking. A bit off topic. Sorry. I don't think you should disregard fincher completely. His response was in no way tactful but he is correct about the purpose of the bungee. billvon explained it better but basically said the same thing.
  9. Awesome. You've got Stanley (whoever he is?) on the run. Your post on some obscure website will change the minds of many. You are making the world a better place. You win. Glad to see you back Lucky. I haven't had a good laugh in a while.
  10. What happens when you open in spinning diving line twists, and almost kick out of them by 3k? Now you're AAD fires and you're wrapped in your reserve PC and being held in the line twists also. You're dead, and with plenty of altitude to think about it. It is very unlikely that the expert Cypres will fire from a canopy diving from line twist. A student Cypres can fire in such a situation.
  11. (off topic) You can get certified in all of those ratings in a weeks time. There is no time requirement to have one rating before getting the next. Just a check ride.
  12. The 182 poised exit is one I refuse to do; if the student goes up you grind your pack against the door. This can happen at any time during climb out, no matter what exit you are doing.
  13. As Dave said beware of the fake websites. If they don't list their physical address on the website it's a pretty good bet it's not legit. If you choose to call a number from a website that does not list their physical address and they won't give you the address on the phone until you have given them your credit card info, it not real.
  14. I remember that movie. I saw it when it came out in 1974. I think I saw it 3 times. It had an all star cast including OJ Simpson. Anyone else remember that movie?
  15. Good! anyone that wants to own such a weapon should be ragarded as potentially dangerous. You are right! I had never thought of it that way. You have opened my eyes! It is the weapon that makes the person dangerous, not the other way around. I own an AR and at home it has a trigger lock on it. Not for safety. I put the trigger lock on for transport to and from the range and don't see a need to take it off at home(unless I'm cleaning it). It comes off when I get to the range. I have handguns around the house without a trigger lock though.
  16. I thought all this was cleared up after the latest episode of Conspiracy Theory about 9/11 with Jessie Ventura? That episode was a joke just like your theories.
  17. That was my exact thought when I saw it. Nothing terribly violent to make both of them unable to hang on. I agree that it was just lack of communication.
  18. I've had,,,,,9 cutaways......and 9 reserve rides!!!!!!???,,,,..... 6 Sport gear,,,,, and.... 3 tandem!!!!
  19. The video guy did an awesome job though.
  20. I kinda like what someone else wrote in another thread. Can't argue with the truth.
  21. Kallend MO part 2: Trying to turn the thread around towards him. Its been this way for a long time. I've seen your true nature, with the cruelness you had for my dead friend and the tragedy that we went through. Others have seen your nature too. It doesn't fool anyone. It appears that you don't care for anyone outside of your absolute immediate circle, unless you can some how stroke your ego. +1000000. Description fits to a tee.
  22. There seems to be some conflicts within your statements. Also, the U.S. is not a pure Democracy. The majority of the population does not get to vote laws in that discriminate against the minority (at least it shouldn't).
  23. It seems like I've heard this before. Is there an echo in here?
  24. During an off-landing, there is a good chance that there will be no handy windsock to tell you the wind direction. Part of learning accuracy is to determine your ground speed relative to objects. People should learn to tell wind direction at a higher altitude by object movement. It would be extremely difficult to accurately tell wind direction and speed at higher altitudes(1000 feet, 2000 feet??) by judging object movement. Plus the wind direction and speed are often different at higher altitudes than they are on the ground. A better approach is to know wind direction before you leave the ground.
