Is that a data point or opinion. I think you may have finally got it right. Thank you for all of your opinions.
-
I never said anything of the kind, so please don't go putting words in my mouth :-( I guess you missed the smiley at the end of his comment which would indicate he was joking. I wish people at dramazone would grow the fuck up. =D

Which manufacturer makes gear that is designed for fashion, not function?
-
That's not data, that's opinion. But don't let that stop anyone from beating up on the newbies. You are still confusing personal opinion with data. Comfort is not easily quantifiable, if at all. I don't wear blue jeans because I don't find them comfortable but many other people feel the opposite. What does this mean? Nothing, just personal opinion. I find that if I sleep on a firm mattress it is more comfortable. Some people prefer a softer mattress. What does this mean? Nothing, just personal opinion. At least you got that part right about your "data".
-
No it doesn't. Since the data are meaningless as they stand, they don't go for or against any predictions at all. As far as the predictions made by the anti gun groups, yes it does. Meaningless data are just meaningless. Look it up in a dictionary. If a person or group makes a prediction and the prediction does not come true as specified, it is not meaningless. Go read Bill Coles end of the US/world thread.

I made the ridiculous part of your post bold. Seriously ? So you are a new jumper but you feel that a certain brand/type is the best based on a recommendation from someone ? Can you give some data to back that up ? Can you back up the safety record that you claimed on the containers behalf ? Just to further nitpick - you say it's "Like nothings there!" - have you tried most other widely available containers that were made for a person of your size ? If not, then your statement is (in a very solid dz.com tradition) is absolutely useless. Last three weeks I jumped : Racer Javelin Javelin Odyssey Atom Classic Wings Icon Infinity And I found them all to be a nice fit. More data for you... That's not data, that's opinion. But don't let that stop anyone from beating up on the newbies.

Bill Dause Recieves "Chesley H. Judy Safety award!!!"
timmyfitz replied to DON321's topic in Safety and Training
Not to rain on the parade, but there are dozens of these each year. A “Judy” refers to the new USPA Chesley H. Judy Safety Award. USPA’s latest recognition for service to the skydiving community came together as the result of an important act of generosity, along with imagination at the right time. A “Judy” will be voted on with ballots during Safety Day activities to one jumper from each drop zone who in the past year, through example, deed, training or innovation, has promoted safety in the sport. Awardees may include anyone on the drop zone who has made a noteworthy difference to the safety of local jumpers. You forgot to highlight this part. if the OP had not written ***Bill Dause, DZO of the Parachute Center, Lodi, Ca. Recieved the Chesley H. Judy USPA safety award 2 weeks ago at our Parachute Center Awards ceramony: and had instead written "Bill Dause, DZO of the Parachute Center, Lodi, Ca. Recieved the a Chesley H. Judy USPA safety award 2 weeks ago at our Parachute Center Awards ceramony:" it would have been less misleading. It appears to only be misleading to certain people. I didn't see a similar argument when it was announced that President Obama won the Nobel prize, not A nobel prize -

No, it does not, as there is a probability that without the guns the drop in crime rate would be significantly larger. Maybe the U.S. murder rate even came down to U.K. rate. Yes it does. It does show that more guns isn't related to MORE crime. The same would be true if the statement was "more guns isn't related to less crime". It did not say that more guns cause less crime just that the two are not related. Read again. Don't miss the part where it says "isn't related". Of course this does go against all the predictions that more guns would cause more crime.

Bill Dause Recieves "Chesley H. Judy Safety award!!!"
timmyfitz replied to DON321's topic in Safety and Training
Interesting that "noteworthy difference" has no qualitative modifier. FWIW. Not really. -
But from the sound of it, the jumpers on this load werent exactly given fair warning, unless i misunderstood the above quote. If the wind picked up AFTER I got on the plane, I would want to know... There is nothing wrong with riding the plane down, but you have to know the situation in order to make that call... My comments were not directed at the OP, just mjo's post. Read again.

Gary, Let me introduce you to the “entitlement generation”. They are “entitled” to make bad decisions anytime they feel like it. They are “entitled” to make the same mistakes others have made in the past. They are “entitled” to ignore sound advice given by someone who has been there, done that and has the T-shirt. When something goes wrong they are “entitled” to blame someone/something else for their fuck ups. They are “entitled” to demand that there be some electronic gismo available to pull their head out of their ass when their “mad skills” fail them. The world has changed my friend and you are looking at the future leaders of skydiving and society as a whole. Ain’t it grand? Sparky Not any different than 20 or 30 years ago. There were people jumping in winds to high, against the advice of senior jumpers, way back in the "old days". Mistake will be repeated no matter what advice is given. It's human nature. It's just that the jumpers that made the mistake of jumping in to high of winds 20 or 30 years ago now feel some kind of superiority and arrogance when the advice they dispense is ignored(Just like they ignored years ago). No entitlement generation, just human.

Democrat with an important environmental concern
timmyfitz replied to dorbie's topic in Speakers Corner
Probably not a metaphor. After he explains how the whole island will tip over and capsize he says "and also things like the environment......" He certainly appears as though he has made his two concerns very separate, the island tipping over and capsizing and the environmental impact. Listen again for his segway from one to the other at about 1:50. This guy is a moron and I am surprised the military dude at the table could keep a straight face. -
This is for the spelling police. You know, the ones that like to point out spelling mistakes of others but make mistakes themselves. http://www.makeuseof.com/tech-fun/internet-cant-ignoere-grammar

Pentagon Tells Obama to Press Israel for Peace
timmyfitz replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
are we talking jews or arabs here? I don't think Israelis have low IQ's or literacy so arabs are a bit 'substandard' as humans? Substandard? I love when people twist words to come up with their own meanings. Because people are undereducated, fanatical or just plain stupid fucks, it doesn't mean they are less human. However history has shows that "these" humans generally take more from society than they give. (do you suggest marking 'these' people in some way so we can identify them. perhaps putting them in a specific area away from high IQ people) I think it has already begun. Where do you live? -

Am I gay.. nope. Well, you have denied it so we know what that means.
-
Do you know any gay people? Are you gay? If you deny you are then it's probably true that you are gay because you have denied it.

Do you disconnect your RSL when shooting video?
timmyfitz replied to ridestrong's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
What does that have to do with an RSL? -
That would be the logical way to do it, as I suggested it to someone in this thread. But then they would probably have nothing to bitch about. Keep up the good work.
-
What happens if you don't listen to them. Will It take longer than 6 months?

how many sigma tm's clear risers in event of bag lock?
timmyfitz replied to skydiveoc's topic in Tandem Skydiving
At least the video guy got plenty of shots of his own hands in the video. -
Nice justification.
