  1. about 79 at z-hills ... 737 goes under dc-3 ........ removed for environmental reasons... conserve pixels !!! ...... One occurrence for you from 1979? yep ... 1 in 79 ... course with 42 (counting pilots) on 40 tango and approx 110 (guess here) on 737 .. had we been 150 ft closer.... that would have been 162 dead .... that would average 5.58 per year up to current ... of course jumping would be different because i'm sure they would have slapped a 100 mi buffer out from every commercial airport ... bye bye Perris, Elsinore, Z-hills, Deland and Eloy and probably just about any drop zone of any size whatsoever.... Sorry, I guess you missed my point. You personally only having one incident in 30 years would not make me believe (in your case) that it is a major problem. Also 42+110=152.
  2. Did you see this... US Patent Issued on April 21, 1987 Estimated Patent Expiration Date: June 19, 2004 Does that mean I can start up a new business? It sure does. You will problably make twice what the last guy did. Sparky Does that mean he will sell two?
  3. I have gotten quite a few tips while doing tandems but it's extremely rare when I have done AFF. Most of the AFF instructors I know are quite surprised when they get a tip. It is definitely not required or expected. Keep your money for jumps. I have turned down tips from AFF students for this reason.
  4. Wow, even if tongue-in-cheek... wow. That's pretty pathetic, a couple million dollars vs. a few million lives and countless generations. Nice. You stay classy. ?What? This goes in the top ten all time stupid replies category. I'd put it at number one. Skyride defenders are AWESOME!
  5. Not illegal as in FAA law but they are banned by the tandem rig manufacturers.
  6. Two wrongs do make a right? Sorry, I didn't mean to rip you off and not give you the refund you asked for, it was a mis-communication. I don't have a problem with people that jump at skyride owned dropzone, just their attempts to defend skyride. But it's so fun. weeeeeeee.
  7. As far as the FAA is concerned you Third Class guys are student pilots. More than just student pilots. "A third-class airman medical certificate is required to exercise the privileges of a private pilot certificate, recreational pilot certificate, a flight instructor certificate, or a student pilot certificate." http://www.faa.gov/licenses_certificates/medical_certification/faq/response4/ Before the USPA was involved with tandem certification, the tandem rig manufacturers required a third class medical cert, IIRC. And still do.
  8. (Thread drift) A commercial pilot is not required to have a 1st class certificate. Or were you using the term commercial to mean ATP/airline pilot? "A second-class airman medical certificate is required for commercial, non-airline duties (e.g., for crop dusters, corporate pilots)" http://www.faa.gov/licenses_certificates/medical_certification/faq/response4/
  9. Call you back for what? So you can continue to complain to him about something that wasn't his fault? What is it you are hoping to accomplish?
  10. So is jumping out of an airplane. That doesn't seem to be the consensus here.
  11. The bruising has more to do with how the legs straps are adjusted (not how tight they are) than whether the rigs is custom made for you. Post #8.
  12. God knows it seems to be your one and only fucking purpose in life. nope, i also like to annoy people to no end! are you as successful!? In your case, posting and annoying people go hand in hand.
  13. Beginning of what? Whats the point of doing this other than saying that you can? not trying to be a jerk but I don't get it. am I missing something? Yes, you are missing something. It's head down in a $1200 suit as opposed to a $300 free fly suit. Don't you get how ground breaking this is? If you can't fly a wingsuit head down, you are not flying it the way the developers intended.
  14. According to the Stiletto wing loading chart on the PD website, if you were to jump a 150 at your current weight that would put you in the expert category. I have a feeling you knew the answer before you posted and are just trolling.
  15. How would you define "so many"? Clearly we don't have exact numbers here. I'm sure many of these near-misses were never reported to the USPA for incident reports. We are hearing reports from a number people here on this forum and that doesn't represent the general skydiving population over the years. I don't have a set definition of "so many." What are you, a scientist?
  16. They are two separate and completely unrelated subjects. Someone could believe (or not believe) in one or both of the conspiracies because they are not in the least bit related. No tin foil hat required.
  17. What you are speaking about is parts replacement for items that go, or are going bad. You have described one very good reason why they do a 4 year check. All electronic components have a tolerance, yes even digital components. If one or more of the components go beyond their tolerance, it can change the way the circuit functions.
  18. about 79 at z-hills ... 737 goes under dc-3 (actually c-47, but who knows the difference anymore) on jump run with 40 people ... about 100ft separation ... yup, that sky is REAL big .... 1/2 second difference and you might not be jumping today... not sure the fall-out from 40 dead jumpers and a 737 full of people but i'm betting huge ... i was spotting in door (huge old 140 tango door, you could walk thru it standing up, not teensy otter door) and saw (no glasses on, kinda blurry) what I thought was a dc-3 ... out in front, coming our way, way low... then it got bigger ... then a whole lot bigger and I realized what it was .. had time to point and go 'duh .. duh' and flexed knees .. I was leaving, screw everyone else (not proud of that, but what can ya do?..we were all about to die) Ron (sorry, can't remember last name, think Mark Borghurst was co-pilot, he was mechanic at the time) threw 40 Tango into left turn ... 90 degrees ... i am glued to floor in door ... no hands on anything, just feet on floor and stretched out face down in door and can't move due to G's, and the 737 goes under us ... maybe a 100 ft amtbe 150ft below .. I am standing up but flat out horizontal looking down ... i could have recognized my mom if she had her face scrunched up to a window in the 737 ... I watched every window go by... had Ron not turned and glued me to the floor, i'd a been outta there and right in front of it ... on ground ... 40Tango lands and I hover by office ..., Ron leaves plane with props turning (co-pilot can shut down) RUNS into office and gets on phone ... Tampa approach - 'no, we passed it off to Miami control ( Ron was talking on radio to Tampa approach until 7,500... then switched to Miami control) Miami control - 'no, they didn't give it to us' (Ron had, as usual, advised Miami control of climb to 12,000 and announced jump run to them) ... obviously, 737 crew had heads down and saw nothing at all yup, big old sky... no need to worry about what else is out there, everyone is very competent and taking care of your sorry ass ............ moron One occurrence for you from 1979?
  19. Look for the trees without any branches or leaves. Those are a pretty good indicator of where the invisible power lines are.
  20. This is true but it certainly wasn't what you were trying to say when you said:
  21. The Nobel Peace prize is a joke, and Obama is a clown for accepting it. Proud? Have another glass of cool-aid. I won't comment on whether the NPP is a joke or not but if Obama had not accepted it, you would be complaining about that also. (Hell just froze over-I'm defending Obama) Your assumption is incorrect. I'm not an Obama basher. Several of your past post indicate otherwise. I guess it's how you define the word "basher"
  22. In this society people who can spell and punctuate are usually given more credence than those who can't. It’s just the way it is. If you wish to be taken seriously in most venues, it is best to at least have the appearance of having an intellect higher than that of an idiot or that of a moron. Spell checkers are quite easy to find and use.....now that you have masterd the on and off switch and are able to hunt and peck your way on the keyboard. On the other hand if you want to be very typical of so many so called conservatives on here you can always blame being stupid on new math and the NEA... Yeah, take that all you butt hurt RePUBICans. Bawhahahahahah. Oh, the humor of it all.
