    Back in the 80's I spent a bit of time at Stapleton waiting for Aspen Airways to be cleared into PIO. After about 5 hours in a room that looked like a refugee camp we decided to rent a car. I remember driving past the airport thinking it looked tight. Flight back was a non-starter. I think they were using 4 engine turboprops.     I hear what you're saying Rob but the numbers don't make sense. We were supposed to be "in the saddle" at 2 grand. Most people I knew were dumping at 2 grand, myself included.     January Issue, Article on RSL's There are some stats that I question in this article; Average jumper takes 6 to 8 seconds from the time they decide to initiate cutaway and the time they actually release the main. 6 to 8 seconds to regain a stable belly to earth body position after release of the main. Huh? That's 12 to 16 seconds to go from recognizing a mal to pulling your reserve ripcord. Maybe another couple for reserve inflation. Something doesn't add up. Please don't dent the planet.     I thought I might be having a little mini-stroke or something. Do they make ski helmets that are pre-drilled for mounting stuff? I mangled a couple hard helmets mounting paralerts.     then EVERY skydiver and BASEjumper on this planet would have a serious problem. those helmets are rated to impacts of about 20km/h. a normal skier usually goes around 50-60km/h. not even a motorcycle helmet would let you survive a direct hit.
