    I guess what bothers me the most about this is a no pursuit rule automatically shifts blame for bad things that happen during a pursuit onto the LEO. If you are a bad guy fleeing you are ultimately responsible for anything bad that happens during that pursuit. If you're not pursuing car theft where do you draw the line? Murderer? We've lost the ability to define right vs. wrong and who is responsible. Ya know, if we just stop chasing criminals I'll bet the crime rate would drop....Part of living in a free society is understanding that bad things can happen to you even when you're doing everything right.     Possibly. More probable are form letters that needed to be vetted. If it truly is 2 letters reviewed by the legal department for each request then there are also possibilities; 1) the company is run by idiots 2) the company operates in the legal gray area and needs to play CYA when dealing with these types of requests 3) there aren't that many of these types of requests. It does however, point to the failure of the education system in the states despite union's best attempts. Hmmm. You think that having every letter vetted by a lawyer does not effect costs? No, I think having 2 letters vetted by an on-staff legal department has no effect on the cost. Oh, you think there are only 2 letters in total. That explains it.     In High School near us was a place called Holiday Sands. It's a lake/water park. I'm sure everyone has one nearby. This particular park had a huge slide into the water. After blazing up I decided it would be cool to go head first and skip off the water. One of the most painful things I've ever done. I think the impact with the water forced the blood out of my heart. I was commenting that Dien Bein Phu as a military battle was terrible for the French troops. As a result of the seige and the situation of French troops, Eisenhower contemplated using atomic bombs on the Vietnamese forces which of course he did not.
