No it isn't. You can disregard the Roberts decision all you want, but without his 5th vote, ACA was toast. Roberts did not say ACA is a tax. He said the penalty provision of ACA amounted to a tax. In 2014, the penalty is the greater of a flat $95 per adult and $47.50 per child under age 18, up to a maximum of $285 per family, or 1 percent of your family’s modified adjusted gross income that is over the threshold the requires you to file a tax return. That threshold is $10,150 for an individual, $13,050 for a head of household and $20,300 for a married couple filing jointly. Next year the penalty increases to $325 per adult or 2 percent of income, and in 2016 it will be the greater of $695 or 2.5 percent of income. The $95 penalty has gotten a lot of press, but many people will be paying substantially more than that. A single person earning more than $19,650 would not qualify for the $95 penalty ($19,650 - $10,150 = $9,500 x 1% = $95). So the 1 percent penalty is the standard that will apply in most cases, say experts. For example, for a single person whose MAGI is $35,000, the penalty would be $249 ($35,000 - $10,150 = $24,850 x 1% = $249). The penalty is capped at the national average price for a bronze plan, or about $9,800, says Brian Haile, senior vice president for health policy at Jackson Hewitt Tax Service. how is moving this deadline 3 weeks "changing the law?" Did the law have the original deadline in it? As I said, I'd take the whining about imperial oversight a bit more seriously if the GOP would participate in ACA lawmaking in any manner beyond trying to repeal it. I believe the changes to this law keep coming in an attempt to put lipstick on a pig. Let's be honest - this complaint is really about him and not the ACA which you find unacceptable regardless of new data. When the goal is to get enrollment, rather than find reasons to penalize people, extensions are a quite reasonable response to a surge at the deadline. You wouldn't announce extend it 6 months ago - people naturally delay their response to the same 11th hour. And yet, if your capacity to handle all the late callers is inadequate, it's not appropriate to say, tough shit. Last year's on tax day, California's electronic system basically melted down. Accepting their responsibility, the web site flashed an acknowledgement along with a statement that payments/filings submitted in the day after the deadline would still be considered timely. If it was only that simple. This is playing politics with ACA once again and simply changing the law because it doesn't suit him. A common problem. I have no advice other than to say relax. It's all good. I know it looks low to you but it really isn't that low. If you get out at 4 grand you'll have nearly 10 seconds before you're down to 3 grand so there's plenty of time. Problems come in when you are so tight that you screw up the exit so again, use whatever technique you use to relax. Go over it in your mind...count to 10...see how much time that is? You'll be fine. I know, probably doesn't help much but there it is.

Tesla is putting in a proprietary charger network that will give you most of a full charge within about 30 minutes. You can currently drive across the country and up and down the east and west coasts charging only from this network. You can also use standard EV chargers, and you can use adapters to use regular outlets (for slow charging) or outlets at RV parks (for faster charging.) Umm..you can do that if you want to stop for 30 minutes every 4 hours. Hope there's an open spot at the supercharger or you could be in for an even longer wait. Frankly, I think the range number is a myth with the a/c blowing on a 90 degree day. And the electricity won't be free forever. Bottom line is this company still doesn't work without the tax credits. I'm sure Elon has the cash to float it for awhile but I don't think the stockholders will be impressed. I know, I know...it's green and that's cool. Please don't dent the planet.
