  1. My point isn't about the accuracy of the weapon. Skinnay seems to think we aren't already involved in an aggressive bombing campaign. I'll submit that we are. Aggressive is subjective. We were in a bombing campaign under Obama for sure, but it was specific. Trump has indicated he's going to be far less specific and more prolific as well. I don't think that's a step in the right direction. So if you're specific it's not being aggressive? The two aren't mutually exclusive. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

  3. Do you think 506 drone strikes by Obama didn't stir up some anger and extremism? Obama’s Embrace of Drone Strikes Will Be a Lasting Legacy http://www.nytimes.com/roomfordebate/2016/01/12/reflecting-on-obamas-presidency/obamas-embrace-of-drone-strikes-will-be-a-lasting-legacy Bolding mine. 4. Not really. I read where they had to be model inmates, undergone all kinds of reform programs. I'm OK with it. Just having a tail is making it awfully difficult for ex-cons to find meaningful employment. No wonder they go back to doing what they know best. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

  6. I have a book I would suggest you read. "Guns, Germs, and Steel" by Jared Diamond. It has a hypothesis about why people live where they do. It also was valuable enough of a hypothesis for the CIA to give him a medal for his work on helping them understand certain things. Perhaps after reading it you'll understand it's not simply liberals and progressives who live in cities and why. It's almost never that simple however, more democrats than republicans live in the cities. The EC map makes that quite clear. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

  9. It's not even half the population. There are roughly 319 million people in the US. Clinton got 65,844,954 votes 20% of the population Trump got 62,979,879 votes 20% of the population I don't trust either 20% to make that decision. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

    RIP Gene Cernan

Watched it today. I was most struck by the toll it took on his family. Sad. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  11. Every time you drive you're being surveilled by law enforcement. I'd wager when you're out and about you're being recorded more than you even know. It flies in the face of reason to expect LEOs to remember to turn on a body cam. They have dash cams on at all times. No one is complaining about that. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  12. Good. The police shouldn't be videoing law abiding citizens exercising their Constitutional rights. That smacks of intimidation and is inappropriate. You guys amaze me. Seriously. You wanted body cameras on all police then you only want them turned on at times when it suits your needs. Next you'll be having kittens because somebody forgot to turn on their camera. In my mind the camera is there to protect the police from bullshit claims of police brutality and to make sure the LEO isn't out of line. It's a win/win. We live in a country that is loaded with surveillance equipment. Is that impinging on your rights as well? Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

    RIP Gene Cernan

Not one of the most recognizable names. Veteran of the Gemini and Apollo missions and the last man to walk on the moon. Sail on Gene. https://www.nasa.gov/astronautprofiles/cernan Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  14. #1 - I just want to trim the fat. You know, all that stuff I don't need.* (* - wasteful things like infrastructure cathodic protection. Let the Pope deal with them.) Last I heard catholics are OK with birth control. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  15. New designs can use depleted uranium. We have enough of it to power the US for 750 years. There are 100 reactors already running here. I think that statement is a bit overly dramatic. New designs don't use water. The nuke accidents always come back to using water to cool the rods. Here's a hint; if you people are as concerned about climate change as you say you are we won't be able to have a worldwide impact without nuclear power. Wind and solar won't do it. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  16. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/tech/the-nuclear-option.html Fascinating doc on the new nuclear reactors being developed. Even without admitting that climate change is real we're going to need this power in the future so you can drive your Teslas. It's also a stark reminder of the time wasted by the liberals in the 70's and 80's. Hollywood, the Democrats, and over-regulation strangled nuke power. Hard to imagine where we'd be now had we not wasted the last 2 decades. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  17. I think the problem is we've all been force fed carfully scripted bullshit from the politicians for a long time. What we're getting now is off the cuff. It's gonna be interesting. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  18. About 5 miles. www.technologyreview.com/s/602494/bad-math-props-up-trumps-border-wall/ Who pays for the other 995 miles. US Taxpayers (a set that excludes the PEOTUS) You must have missed his tweet about invading south of the border about down to Vercruz. Wall will be a lot cheaper then. Please don't dent the planet. 21. http://us-foreign-aid.insidegov.com/q/112/1590/How-much-money-does-the-U-S-give-to-Mexico According to this site we gave Mexico $209 million in foreign aid in 2012. I'm thinking that will pay for part of it. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

  23. I'm thinking most of the progressives on here are concerned about the dismantling of the EPA. While they've done good in areas they've screwed the pooch in others. The problem I've always had with the EPA is they operate outside of the rule of law. There's no checks and balances. They simply dictate policy, or worse use shoddy science to cover their asses. Where was the EPA in Flint, MI? Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  24. I agree that it's difficult to know. I didn't like voting for Trump but I disliked Hillary even more, and I felt as if my not voting for Trump was the same as voting for HRC. I think a lot of white, middle-aged, middle-class folks felt the same. ETA Obama played no part in my decision. Now I'm interested to see what happens when you go off script as we are now.
