Let's reserve the term "fake news" for stories which are actually fake. The headline wasn't "fake," just poorly written. I don't think so. Using terms like "gutted" is unnecessary. Why? In September 2016, Harmon wrote in the Portland Press Herald how he opposed a ballot initiative, Question 3, that would have required all gun sales to go through a federally licensed dealer who would perform a background check of the buyer. He continued: "But perhaps the worst of the bunch is LD 1240, which would on the plus side allow police to take guns away from people admitted to a psychiatric hospital on an emergency basis, but would also increase the minimum age for a concealed carry permit from 18 to 21 (we let 18-year-olds handle machine guns for the military, but something keeps them from qualifying to carry a .38?) and require background checks for all private gun sales except to family members. But the absolute worst part of the bill is that it would require all gun buyers to take a firearm safety course." We do know he opposed the requirement to take a course and we don't know if his position has changed almost 4 years after he wrote it. I would venture a guess to say a former military officer has probably been a pro-gun advocate a bit longer than 4 years, but you want to make that sound as if it's a bad thing. That sentiment is exactly what got us into this mess. How about a little reality. If you can't afford to go to college don't take out massive student loans. Go to a trade school...enlist in the military. Find some other way to learn a trade that will take you through life. I'm working on a project right now. There's nothing wrong with the concept. Where it breaks down is when the interests of the school (profit) conflict with the interests of the student (being properly prepared to do the job.) At that point it becomes an assembly line with a poor quality product. I think there are some state schools that might fit that description as well. Please don't dent the planet.
