"Dear journalists: Stop taking Trump literally" -- Brad Todd
airdvr replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
Right. But we've known that for several years now. Words (promises, vows, claims) don't mean specific things to him any politician in DC; they are mere tools used to accomplish a given goal. FIFY Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne -
Trump refusing his daily intelligence briefings
airdvr replied to jclalor's topic in Speakers Corner
So by "qualified" you mean anyone of the DC elite? The US I see today is a direct reflection of 30 years of being sold out by those same folks. I'll pass on them, TYVM. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne -
And to you all as well. I enjoy the spirited debates here but I would gladly offer you a hand if you were down and out. I hope you feel the same. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

All good points. I have to say when your debt exceeds your income you have real problems that perhaps only someone with business experience can solve. As for the rest of it; you guys seem to be conjuring up fears that even the Hillary camp couldn't. Here's your fiddle. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

Further than he and the Republican party divided the nation by pushing it to the forefront of the national conversation for two years? Your statement reminds me of a joke I heard once. A politician dies and goes to the pearly gates. Peter says there is a new rule. Before you can go to heaven you must experience both places and then decide. So the man goes to heaven. There's harps playing and everyone is sitting on a cloud. Very peaceful. Then he goes to hell. What a party! Open bar, food everywhere, hookers and blow all for the asking. He goes back to St. Peter. St. peter asks him "Have you decided?" The politician tells St. peter that while heaven looks wonderful he's decided to go to Hell. Poof! When he opens his eyes there is fire and brimstone everywhere. People dressed in rags. He asks the first person he sees what happened. "Yesterday it was such a party here. now this?" The guy looks at him and smiles. "Yesterday was the campaign. Today you voted." Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

If I'm understanding this correctly the home must either be re-financed (with the funds being used to buy out your half) or sold with the equity being split. Unfortunately I don't see a way to force their hand without getting an attorney involved. Appraisals mean everything when there is a lender involved. Please don't dent the planet. Perhaps he felt it would only further divide the nation. I have no problem with it...her political career is over. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

I don't see it as having a problem when I don't help define the standard. I can however, observe the standard and comment on how far out of the realm it is versus the rest of the country. And, I suppose I have a problem with what I see as a blatant attempt to disenfranchise the middle class (not to mention a colossal gathering of over priveleged douchebags). SNL pokes fun at the very real desires of many to not be forced to live in a country governed by those with whom they don't agree. I've experienced their Utopian society. It's closer to reality than many are aware. While I understand you've been many places where you don't get to help define the standards I doubt you've been anywhere that you felt you weren't able to judge. Please don't dent the planet. No it isn't the same. There are areas of the country who've already been able to get as close to the Bubble as possible. Spend some time in Silicon Valley. I've been saying for 3 years that this place wasn't a part of the United States, and not because of the population being mostly from India or the Far East. They've been able to cut themselves off from the rest of the country simply by maintaining an economic wall that prevents most people from being able to afford to live there. Take a look at this sweet 1,350 sq ft. ranch home for a mere $1,680,000.00. https://click.mail.zillow.com/f/a/TUeYd1Yi-fv4U0FUpi_T0w~~/AAAAAQA~/RgRaFcFyP0EIAGwW5hfzdtJXBnppbGxvd1gEAAAAAEgPc2VuZHRvZnJpZW5kaGRwQgoAAXI8M1i3GcxvUhRzLnNjaG5hYmVsQHlhaG9vLmNvbQlRBAAAAABFFGVtby1zZW5kdG9mcmllbmQtaGRwRLhodHRwOi8vd3d3LnppbGxvdy5jb20vaG9tZWRldGFpbHMvMTk1MzM1NDRfenBpZC8_dXRtX3NvdXJjZT1lbWFpbCZ1dG1fbWVkaXVtPWVtYWlsJnV0bV9jYW1wYWlnbj1lbW8tc2VuZHRvZnJpZW5kLWhkcCZydG9rZW49Zjg4OGQ1NjUtZWM1OS00NmZiLWFhMjktYTYyZDE4NThmZDIxflgxLVpVeWNwbGdwdnBnb2kxXzR2bDJxR1N7ImlkIjoiMTAyMDUzOTIxNyIsInZlcnNpb24iOiIyIiwic2VudF90aW1lIjoiMTQ3OTc1MjgxOCIsImhvc3QiOiJseW4tZGVsLXplbC0wMDEifQ~~ BTW...there is no housing crisis there...unless you'd like to live there. I've only been able to glimpse at this area due to my step daughter being an orthopedic surgeon and her husband's Masters in code monkeyism. It's truly shocking to see. If you aren't tooling around in a Tesla, Audi, Mercedes, or Volvo you will probably be mistaken for some of the help that migrates daily because they can't afford to live nearby. I've traveled to foreign countries and felt more welcome. This is waaaaay different than some of the flyover states you're referencing. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

And how many people who claim "we need more vetting", actually know how the vetting is being done currently??? http://time.com/4116619/syrian-refugees-screening-process/ That's just for Syria. Plenty of other countries in the area that similar measures may be needed. I guess my concern about the vetting process from the ME is one of whom to believe. I'm pretty certain that if you call INS in Aleppo today the only sound you'll get is one of bombs exploding. And a call to the Saudis might get some sort of non sensical response on whether Haji was a good person while he was in Ryad. To me it's the same as when the distraught mother of the gunman says "he was such a good boy". Back in the 80's Castro shit all of his prisons on us. I'll bet if you had called City Hall in Havana they might not have mentioned Raul's penchant for knives. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

Launched a 4-way out of a Beech 18 at 2,300 ft on a cloudy day. Tracking away from a formation and followed a friend into clouds. When he reappeared we were both getting line stretch about 20 feet apart. Fortunately he was facing away from me. I bounced off his container and flew away. Sea Breezes Floater on a pull out Racer...messed around too long trying to find it. That was followed by a weak launch of my reserve PC resulting in a hesitation. In the saddle at 600ft. I could go on... Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

Porkulous...ACA. These radically different directions were shoved down the throat of Republicans and a lot of the american people. Obama was elected on Hope and Change, not porkulous or the ACA. He could have reached across the aisle early on instead of the famous quote. In DC they have long memories. I would love to see a smooth transition and not too much radicalism but we only have 2 years to undo some stuff we don't like and never agreed to. In reality DC doesn't work the way the Donald is used to functioning (thankfully). He can't just bark out an order and have his minions dispatched. With the exception of the XO the checks and balances will keep him down to a low roar. And he has the same problem BHO had. Just because we have the majority doesn't mean the majority will agree on where to have lunch, much less any meaningful legislation. I understand and empathize with how you feel. I've felt like you do for 8 years. Only time will tell. And...sorry if you felt insulted for being liberal. Were you out last night burning the flag and protesting too? Please don't dent the planet. I believe Trump is president because so many people couldn't stand the thought of another Clinton in the White House. That includes blacks and women. OTOH, your wish for a more aligned population sounds Orwellian to me. I have no doubt that this will be the conservatives' last party for a while. Too many are dead and dying. It won't be this way again until the 20 something's have net worth and don't want to drive Chinese cars. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

The electoral college is in place to ensure fair representation of all the states. If it was a popular vote system candidates would concentrate on NYC, CHI, LA and all the high population states, leaving the less populated out of the mix. It's nothing new...it only bothers some because it didn't work in their favor. Also, the youtube video you posted is wrong in how the number of electors is figured in each state. The Constitution assigns each state a number of electors equal to the combined total of the state’s Senate and House of Representatives delegations; at present, the number of electors per state ranges from three to 54, for a total of 538.
