This is my idea of how a GoPro mount should look. It s a rather thin piece of bent aluminum sheet metal that is mounted with two screws in elongated holes at the top. The sheet metal is bent down to the inner side of the helmet and attached with a third screw in the middle. The elongated holes allow some change of the angle, so it can be tilted down- or upwards. Attached to the flat front is the GoPro back plate of the non waterproof housing, the regular case just gets attached to that. The whole thing is set a bit lower than it would normally need to be so i still have room for my DSLR. The bungee serves no purpose. If it does not cost anything you are the product.

Cutaways (How did you find them)
FrancoR replied to Patterson's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I have used a paramotor to find a canopy before. Still took 45min or so to find freebag and canopy in the wheat field. If it does not cost anything you are the product. -
I have been jumping a spectre 170 for about 1000 jumps and thats also how old it was. Now i am on a Pilot 168 and i feel and i am slower than with the old maybe worn out spectre. My GPS tells me i have about 10km/h less on my Pilot. Quote If it does not cost anything you are the product.

If you want to get a USPA License there are USPA DZs in Germany that may help you. One of them is http://www.skydive-nuggets.de very far south in Germany. If you actually live in Germany it could be an issue if you only have a USPA license and not the german License, to make sure if that could be an issue you may want to contact the German parachute federation http://www.dfv.aero/Verband/Kontakt. If it does not cost anything you are the product.

Nothing beats the reliability of the mirror on my alti. It also does not distract the others with me on the load when i need to ask "is it on?" If it does not cost anything you are the product. -
If safety is paramount WS Base is not an option. That like beeing all for safety and riding a motorcycle on the track without a helmet. If it does not cost anything you are the product.

Canon EOS 700D / Rebel T5i folding Display
FrancoR replied to FrancoR's topic in Photography and Video
Hello, i just upgraded to a Canon 700D from the 350D, now the new camera has a folding display. Does it stay shut in freefall or does it need extra fixation like a strap or something? What do you guys use? If it does not cost anything you are the product. -
New GoPro Hero 3 - Mounting suggestion - question
FrancoR replied to GogglesnTeeth's topic in Photography and Video
Neither one is a good idea in my opinion. Any camera mount should have as little possibilty to snag a line or bridle as possible. That is hard to do with a GoPro, but there are special mounts available that are good (and some that are noot so good). What helmet do you have? Check out this Video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsEI_6cErbM If it does not cost anything you are the product. -
English is taught in all types of schools in Germany from 6th grade on. So in everybody should know enough to talk with you at the bonfire. A lot of Germans however travel to other countries a lot more, especially skydivers. Usually there should be no issue, but i would recommend that you talk to your future instructors and see how it works out. At the DZ in Illertissen for example i don't know too many people but at least 3 of the AFF instructors have very good english. Franco If it does not cost anything you are the product.

Gopro 3 black, exposure lock problem in 0.5 sec
FrancoR replied to spencer's topic in Photography and Video
I asked GoPro about that and they that there will be a firmware update giving you the option of turning off exposure lock. If it does not cost anything you are the product. -
I have the same issue. GoPro recomende to format the memory card, i did that. So far every time i tried it does not have this issue. Seems strange thought that reformating the memory card solves a problem so many people have. If it does not cost anything you are the product.

any recommendations for freefly coaches at i fly seattle
FrancoR replied to jtfreefly's topic in Wind Tunnels
Every couple months i am also in Seattle so i would be interested as well. Are there any freefly coaches at iFly Seattle? If it does not cost anything you are the product. -
Actually very good questions. 2.) I prefer analog wrist. Analog is faster for me to read, reads better at an angle. Wrist because i can tilt it easier to be able to read it. 3.) Audible is more or less a backup, usually i know pretty good when it is going to beep any second. If it does not cost anything you are the product.

If your Cypres fires at 225m and you are doing 500km/h then i believe your Reserve might me undamaged. Simply because it only has 1,6 seconds to inflate. I am not sure it is going to inflate enough to get damaged. If it does not cost anything you are the product.

Pete Luther used to jump a Stiletto with his wingsuit, i believe it was a 150. On his last jump he never recovered from linetwists and did not cut away. You can read more about in it the incident reports. Franco If it does not cost anything you are the product.

Higher wingload = greater chance of line twists?
FrancoR replied to -SK-'s topic in Gear and Rigging
yes. Less mass means there is less energy required to get something to twist. Smaller canopy means higher wingloading, higher wingloading means more speed. If one side of your canopy opens a little faster on opening than the other it will start moving forward faster leaving the other one behind --> Twist. I am sure there are more technical reasons and i am sure you know there are ohter downsides associated with a higher wingloading. If it does not cost anything you are the product. -
Cabo sounds like a good option. Anybody have any info on DZs in Africa? If it does not cost anything you are the product.

Hello Everyone, i am looking for a place/DZ to spend a nice winter vacation. I am not looking for a typical vacation in Eloy, California or Florida, i am looking for something more exotic. I have come up with the Puerto Rico boogie, but i can't seem to find anything on the Nicaragua boogie. Is it happening this winter? I have also looked into Morocco i was there last winter but not to skydive. Anybody else have any ideas what to look into? I would not mind a small DZ, but i would need to have a good plane and jumping during the week. Franco If it does not cost anything you are the product.

Should you steer the opening?
FrancoR replied to lookoutbelow's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That sounds like a fun situation to find yourself in. Maybe too fun. Happened to a guy at my DZ years ago. Hand got stuck in the risers some how, he could not get it out, canopy started to spin, he gut away and luckily his hand was released. Don't put your hands on your risers!
