Hi Evelyn.....I am just about to leave LA after a brief spell at Perris....( very nice DZ !!!) Just wanted to say I did a jump with another Brit who was wearing a full face and visor.....and the visor sheared off in a two way sit, without doing anything radical at all..( it was a Z1 ) That said I have seen some other full face wearers who seem to have a 'modification'...either tape the visor down....or get some metal covers over the ratchet mechanism ( this is where the plastic lenses break I think) Open faced helmets are cooler anyways......ya get to actually smile at the multiple cameras that freefliers have on every dive ( ...apparantly)

Nice canopy...lovely fast, on heading openings (without being aggresive ) and flies very nicely. Perfect for me as a'first' canopy offering the balance of reasonable performance with reliability. A known issue with this canopy is a fast descent rate , which is noticable but does not affect performance too badly.....even on a couple of deep spots it can still 'float' quite well if you know how . Lovely landings, very stable. And the coating on top of the ZP also saves you alot of grief when packing. Dunno about the smaller canopies ort higher wingloadings...but for a 'first' canopy off student gear this 215 is a whole heap of 'safe' fun . And as for the customer service issues...I had two queries answered perefectly within 12 hours.....so farI have no cause to di the canopy or the company... Edited 10/04 to add...I recently had a premature deployment in a stand ......this canopy opened fine and after ground inspection there was not a thing wrong with it at all.....I weigh 215lbs and the deployment was at a speed in excess of 180mph....no canopy damage at all= one really really tough parachute !!!

riiiiiiiight... Care to put an explanation on that one....cause I didnt understand it

You mean BASE jumpers pay staff packers for a pack job...??? Now thats a whole different ball game of paying for a pack job
-
If you have a contact in Central London....then consider asking him to take a walk down Tottenham Court Road. I'm looking for my first cam and with a bit gabble got the price of a brand new Sony PC109 down to £415........and thats better than any online price I have seen Hit em in the morning and late in the day as a follow up......tell 'em you are walking up and down the street and are gonna buy that day....and you will get a good deal.
-
And I am only willing to pay the same as the next guy, despite having a bigger canopy......If they dont like that, I would just move on to someone who does.... Whats next.....extra couple of $ for a pack job on a brightly coloured canopy....because its a 'strain on the eyes'..?? A pack jobs a pack job......
-
Charge more for a tandem canopy??.....sure I can understand that. Charge more for a 'bigger' solo canopy.... Thats not right......a pack jobs a pack job . Following that rule they should also charge sub 100sq ft packjobs more because they have to take the time to be really really careful with it. Choose another packer.....or learn to pack yourself !!

Got any advice for the Perris Tunnel? I am there next week ( kinda a last min thing so no specific 'camp' organised) I'm a freeflyer and heavy at that....210 in my shorts. Was hoping for some ad hoc headown stuff in the tunnel....but not sure thats gonna be possible As the Nationals are happening I am figuring there will prob be some 'spare time' in the tunnel But I absolutely refuse to work 'on my belly' in the tunnel...no matter how much it might teach me....
-
I hear ya... I followed advice given to me....when I was buying my first rig I bought a canopy that was right for me 'now' ( or then...if you get me) Well I did....and got a ZP 215 9 cell.... Its taught me plenty......and whenver I get the slight feeling that Its a bit big....I try and learn to do something new.....and realise everything that everyone has been saying.......learn to wring every ounce of performance outta your canopy before going smaller... On a big canopy you can probably get away with alot more....without having to sweat it having to do it right EVERY time on a canopy thats a tad too small for you ( and shittin yrself in the process) + big canopies and trash pack jobs....well I'll put it this way...I have never worried about it......it always opens

Whilst Fuga's post was technically more in depth......That one hits it right on the head for sheer visual simplicity... Sheeeeerrrrr....wing lol

I disagree....as JumpMunki has already said in the UK when we 'flightline check' each other....if we dont know what they are doing,we ask....any doubts about suitability of equipment can be raised at this point.......and if they are still insistant, as said....they will have to get someone else to sign them off. People have to then go through a couple of stages of ignorance...ie not knowing about the suitability of their equipment......ignoring advice from other jumpers or the person who is 'checking them' on the flightline.... If they still dont listen after all that....you are correct....the only probable way they will learn is a prem.deployment......all's I know is If i am on the same load as them......I'll be a long long way away from them...

I am not mocking your English translation ( my Spanish is non existent).....but thats one of the funniest misquotes I have heard for a while..... Just take a minute to picture this 'land' Thanks for the chuckle....

Probably because most of the freshers I have seen these days look even funnier ( or weirder) when they are NOT in fancy dress....but just wearing usual clothes......lol

Anyone want to see the true nature of our enemies?
Zoter replied to skycop's topic in Speakers Corner
Not quite.......its a show of 'power' one human and another. Whilst some have said that America's 'Shock and Awe' campiagn is being mirrored in a smaller but none the less impacting ' shock and saw' campaign by Iraqui militants......I dont see too many answers to some specific questins. I have seen these beheading videos.....Rhino...has said...its because you should 'know your enemy' Im not sure thats it for me....... I'm used to seeing some pretty shocking scenes.....but i cannot comprehend how one human being can physically hack off ( and thats what it is ladies and gentlemen ...its not quick) another humans head. Ok Ok I know that one bomb dropped can kill alot of people in a horrible way......but please reflect for a minute.....that pilot, thinks he is doing his job and is distanced from the actual killing ....maybe they rationalise it themselves in other ways. To hack off another bound humans head is alot more personal and alot more 'involved' in killing than the 'pilot'....and personally all I wanted to see was the murderers face to try and see, try and understand what a human must feel to do that to another... I still dont understand.....but I can see its completely and utterly wrong and cannot be justified for ANY reason......
