  1. But what if..... and probably most likely at a DZ....they have all that AND are in cardiac arrest.... Would you hold back from applying CPR based on the fact they may end up with a broken neck as you put them on their back ? I appreciate the differences in liability between here and the US....but damn....if its my life on the line ....and the EMS unavailability vs ' third party with BLS training' availability is the issue....I know what I would want.......and would only offer thanks for the effort irrespective of the outcome
  2. No no no no no....please tell me thats not the way it is ... The reverse, when it comes to Basic Life Support is so much more important
  3. Whether you are packing chutes or blowin' up stuff in Iraq......you ARE a soldier....you are supporting your countries Military and serving the US people........ As already stated...it sup to you to decide what that role entails......but dont be thinking that you are not doing enough as a soldier by being in the rear echelon supporting......its just as important, you just are not going to be in the headlines as doing it right or being dead.. My hat's off to ya'
  4. I use Prem.Pro 1.5....with no prior 6.5 experience.....this may work in 6.5 , not sure.. Hers the path to set the defaults to NTSC Open Premiere.....'EDIT'.....'PREFERENCES'....'DEVICE CONTROL'.....'VIDEO STANDARD' ....then choose NTSC and then 're' save the project Hope it works.....file incompatibility probs when editing suck...
  5. Dunno about the States....but over here....you dont have to be a Medic or have any other 'Medical training' beyond being a first aider to learn how to use an AED ( automatic defib)....takes about half a day to train you....and its pretty much foolproof. They are common now in public places....
  6. And you still bailing ??? Damn.........ride it out baby
  7. You are using Premiere and Encore right? No problem.....just create a new project in premiere ( setting up with NTSC settings) and import your completed project as a 'new sequence'....you may or may not ahve to fiddle around with the frame rate settings to get it 'viewable'....but thats easy enough and even easier if you use After Effects Like wise just create an NTSC setup for Encore and import your completed setups that you created in the 'NTSC' premier project. Should be fine....and cheaper than a repro house
  8. I guess we are just gonna have to buy the book......
  9. Just for the record ...Im sure you mean DEfibrillator We use 'fibrillators' to STOP the heart during heart surgery. There is an increasing trend for 'AED's' (automatic defibrillators) to be placed in all sorts of public places ( airports. rails stations, corporate offices). These devices require a minimum of training and actually analyse the heart rhythm automatically ....and will defibrillate if the heart rhythm is suitable. Theres's no reason that they shouldnt eventually be part of any permanant established 'emergency medical kit' Defibs are fine anywhere as long as there is a 'need' and somone is trained to use them. And its no secret that the most important thing in positive outcomes of cardiac arrests that require defibrillation....is EARLY defibrillation. Should they be on a DZ? well AED's should be everywhere that has a large public population ....no problem there....but specifically there to assist because of skydiving related events....is debateable. ..Correct me if I am wrong....but from what I see most serious acute traumas at DZ's are usually high speed events....and although the heart rhythm may require defibrillation I'll be willing to bet thats as a result to acute cardiac trauma ( bust ribs puncturing the heart......the heart pedacle being torn causing aortic rupture...etc) .....when the cardiac rhythm is secondary to such acute traumas....the importance of a defibrillator is 'on par' in importance to access of qualified acute emergency medical services ( Medevac etc) I'm all for Defibs in public places though....for sure....although... manual defibs will provide much more entertainment on weather holds ....(I jest)
  10. Sounds like full suspension with a decent bit of travel might help with that singletrack.... Ahhh full suspension....gettin' mountain bikers out of gnarly trail trouble since 1982....
  11. Please stick one up here with anything 'different' or unique that YOU do before/at/during/after deployment.........with either sidemounted or top mounted camera setups.....
  12. Nice post Brian....I hear ya Brian has also made a very relevant comment in another thread "resisting reality is how bad things happen' I hear that too......in alot of other sports I have done this has been proven to me to be so so true....in those bad times right at the moment of accidents where time just slows right down...my thoughts could write a book but basically consist of 'what can I do to get out of this in the best possible shape'......sometimes theres nothing you can do....but in my experience, one of the things you can do best of all when there is no other solution....is relax your body......you'll get hurt alot less ! example.....heading towards a car on a bike at 50mph (sideways)...totally without control....Ok...I AM going to hit that thing in the rear windsheild.......what can I do to make it hurt the least........??....relax .....and let my shoulder go through......and my body be limp.... ( I ended up in the back seat with not a single scratch)
  13. Relax....... Easier said than done granted....but relax.... Maybe ask your instructor if you can 'lock on' a little bit higher to give you some extra secs in freefall with your hand on the handle and your left arm in front of you to get used to the feeling of 'pull time' Worked for me.... Thats my experience talking.....not an 'Instructors' advice
  14. You might want to consider the ZP.Exe range from Chute Shops.... Its a Sabre copy very well made and has at least , the same flight characteristics. Its also very very strong......check out my post in the Incidents Forum for an example. Comes in at >200sq ft sizes of 215 and 235 Best news of all its about 4-5 hundred pounds sterling ( read 680 US) cheaper than a Sabre 2! (No I am not a dealer....just a satisfied customer)
  15. ditto....a drop of everything but mixed to perfection ! Vids that are edited well to the music track.....and especially where the music track 'fits' the content.
  16. Does not sound like a 'toggle' getting buried ....he got hold of that but couldnt extract the rest of the PC ( please correct me if I am wrong) Sounds to me and my limited experience like a poorly packed PC. Sam ...its a good idea if you dont alreday pack for yourself to .....get round to learning ....but when something like that happens (doesnt have to be a full on mal) getting an instructor / DZ Safety Officer / Rigger / Very experienced jumper to take a look over the equipment before altering anything ( like pulling out the PC yourself).......just so's they can see with a trained eye whats wrong. If they could have inspected the PC 'in situ' they might have been able to determine if it was a PC packing error or something else........
  17. Well done....probably not very nice seeing the group before you going 'upwards' whilst you are still fiddling around with your right hand...!! What equipment were you using? Did you pack it yourself? Did you/do you check the PC to see if it moves in the Pocket when you were on the ground? If you checked the PC on the ground afterwards.....what was the cause of the hard pull.....PC packing error or other?
  18. yeah .....kinda.....I just seem to bounce off 'em Not tried tracking into one yet !! Just cant help pulling at the last second when the groundrush hits .....
  19. I agree a nice game /simulation would be nice ! You have pretty much full control of the canopy in this game....no reserve....but hey most of the jumps you can do are BASE Glad y'all like the movie.......so much to explore in the map....I'm on the lookout for other suitable 'exit points '
  20. " You're gonna need a bigger boat.........." Chief Brodie....Jaws (His first words after his first face to face encounter with said shark)

    Sittin's Hard

About 9 for me to get the position stable....and prob another 20 or so to help dial in turns and movement ( some coached jumps in there) Headown ...much harder for me....but after 'getting it' Im finding the happier you are in a position the more you see you need to learn.....so staying head up for a while is worth it I reckon.
