  1. The "Chicago Code" Tuesday, FOX-TV. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  2. Thanks for the confirmation. There is a review of this weapon in the American Rifleman, Dec 2010, MSRP $569. I found less expensive deals online. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  3. As the article mentioned further down, why do this now when the federal budget, jobs and the economy are the top issues? Watch what BHO's other hand is doing. 4. Just be aware, no one starts out using mood altering substances believing that they will have a problem. The first step to solving a personal problem is recognizing that a problem exists. That step is immensely difficult. I don't entirely agree with you here. Personally, I can't speak for "everyone" and what they know when they start out using mood-altering substances, and I don't believe that you can either. Same with personal problems. Some people might recognize that a problem exists right away; others may take a while. And some people might find a solution right away, while others may not. I have seen a number of people give up illegal drugs and then continue to drink alcohol in moderation, while I have seen others give up one drug only to become addicted to another (including alcohol). And many of the people I know who have been "clean" for years still abuse caffeine and/or nicotine, while some are able to use those drugs in moderation or not at all. People are all different. I don't think we are in disagreement as I pretty much agree with what you have seen. Not everyone who uses then abuses. Not everyone who abuses becomes addicted. Mood altering chemicals are cunning, baffling and mysterious. If the use of them coincides with a problem in personal well-being, interpersonal relationships, employment or, social environment there is a high probability that the substance is a major factor of the problem. 5. I know exactly what you mean. I wish for the same thing. Maybe just not reading what I don't like will work. That would be taking personal responsibility instead of projecting the cause of my negative feelings on someone else. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. 8. I always thought that the object of recovery was to be able to enjoy life without the need for drugs or alcohol. You know, trudging that road of happy destiny. Clean time is one measure, but not the only one, or even the most accurate one. I agree. In my experience the longer I am clean the easier it is to stay clean. The first year is the most difficult. Some rule of thumb benchmarks are 30 days, 90 days, 6 months, 1 year, 3 years, 5 years, 10 years and so on. We just take it one day at a time. Today, with God's help, I choose not to use. 10. That'll work. I believe in work therapy. What is the difference between "work" and "work therapy"? Work therapy is a term I used when relating to clients in treatment programs. It refers to focusing on a job with enough intensity to keep cravings and boredom at bay. The object is to gain clean time. Work is having a job. 11. That'll work. I believe in work therapy. Why do you think he needs therapy if he doesn't drink? Is everyone an alcoholic, and just waiting for a drink to help them along the process? I know quite a few "therapists" that believe this. ALL the ones that do are on the program too. Every one of them. I don't know where you are going. I offered encouragement and exhortation, that's all. He did admit to a substance abuse problem. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. 12. When I applied for my SS two years ago, I was not asked any questions concerning my two ex-wives. It is my understanding, if you were married ten years or more, your ex-wife can claim her SS on your income if she is single. Another interesting SS quirk, assuming the ten year stipulation, if a woman retires and is married to a subsequent spouse, she draws on her income. If her husband dies or they are divorced she can draw on his income or her previous husband's income if it is a greater amount. Here is the game play, woman divorces subsequent husband and files on previous husband for SS increase. Once approved, she can then remarry subsequent husband and retain the higher rate. 13. I haven't heard that one in a long time. Here's a challenge. If you drink regularly but do not consider yourself as having a problem, try going without alcohol for one year. You are saying that regular use equates to addiction. There are sex addicts. There are people who regularly enjoy sex. If you have had sex regularly this month, then you should quit for a year, to prove that you are not a sex addict. Thank you for playing the illogic game. I did not say that at all. Thank you for playing the assumption of contention prior to investigation game. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. 15. If it is something you enjoy, but don't have a problem, why do without? It is simply a personal exercise to evaluate cravings. It is a type of self-help evaluation. 17. You gave me the same response about 10 years ago on rec.skydiving. The only thing that has changed is that I have 10 more years of sobriety. How true. 19. 55-grainers are only good out to about 300 yards. At the shooting matches I attend, they're not even allowed past 300 yards because they are deemed "unsafe" to the target pullers down in the pits. Too much of a chance to blow off target, hit the wood frame, and send splinters flying. Thank you. Good to know. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. 21. Ephesians 5:18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, (Holy) Proverbs 23: 29Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaining? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes? 30Those who linger long over wine, Those who go to taste mixed wine. 31Do not look on the wine when it is red, When it sparkles in the cup, When it goes down smoothly; 32At the last it bites like a serpent And stings like a viper. 33Your eyes will see strange things And your mind will utter perverse things. 34And you will be like one who lies down in the middle of the sea, Or like one who lies down on the top of a mast. 35"They struck me, but I did not become ill; They beat me, but I did not know it When shall I awake? I will seek another drink." Jesus Christ delivered me from this bondage and set me free. He will do it for others. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. 23. HOW dare you to interject facts into a good ole boy anti-Obama rant I know, I hate it when I do that. It freaked me out to find validation and confirmation to my fantasy trip in post #17. 24. Holy Crap! I just checked out the contract PDF. Low and behold it is my boys, SOCOM and/or CENTCOM, right here at MacDill AFB. It is to be used against the enemy not patriotic Americans.
