True Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream

This is not my getting out of line twist technique, on my velocity I'd be on the risers and kicking, I'm just saying there is some grey area in the debate about immediately chopping every mal. Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream

This was in the context of a reply to a few previous posts about cutting away immediately vs. doing something corrective. It is certainly not my go to procedure. Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream

Why would I be wearing a gopro on a tandem? Did you read my post? I did comment on this thread with the intention of starting a bit of a discussion, I'm pointing out that there are grey areas between standard EPs and the full spectrum of possible solutions to an imperfect parachute. Should those solutions be pursued, it depends on the scenario I think. Grey Area: You are near deployment on a tandem jump and your camera flyer suddenly flies into your drogue and their helmet is entangled. Have you ever considered what you would do? What would be the outcome of deploying or using standard EPs? Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream

I didn't say anything about the canopy being stable. The two techniques I outlined have allowed me to avoid cutting away with plenty of altitude to spare. As I said, I used the toggle technique in a tandem situation where my passenger's size prevented me from kicking out of line twists. It was successful in a matter of seconds. I have also resolved a minor lineover near the end of the wing using an aggressive stall. By the way, the guy who suggested the toggle turn to clear twists had over 30,000 jumps. I've absorbed it, but I'm not going to change my skydiving procedures based on internet chat room discussion. You replied WTF to my post but have you ever had line twists with a tandem passenger who was too fat for you to kick out of the twist? Would you rather chop or try pulling a toggle first if you had the altitude? Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream

I'm going to chime in here too, I have 7 reserve rides in 3500 jumps, I will fight to the hard deck, not for financial consideration but because the reserve is a last line of defense, I have resolved a number of mals without cutting away. Do I trust the reserve, yes, but I would rather keep its use to a minimum. Got a lineover near a wing tip, stall your canopy if you have the altitude to spare. Mad line twists? Maybe pulling the correct toggle will stop that spin. Play safe people. Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream

If you are hell bent on swooping that canopy on every jump I hope you are doing hop and pops so you don't take some other poor bastard with you in your blaze of glory. Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream

There are two essential parts of being a good pilot, one part is flying skill and the other is judgement. You may be ahead of the curve in skill but you are way behind in judgement. That is why people are giving you a hard time. Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream

I'm no expert as I only have 2400 tandems but I swooped just about every one and didn't have any issues. Level of difficulty can be very subjective. I honestly believe the added speed is a margin of safety. I'm not talking about vicious hooks here, but doing what amounts to a toggle carve where you can flare and flatten out at any point if necessary. When you are plained out with a tandem if they put feet down you can just flare a bit or scoop their legs. Without the added speed I think you are more vulnerable to turbulence and getting dropped out of the sky, which is when people really get hurt. Speed is life in aviation. This may not be right for everyone but its the only way I will do tandems. Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream

It looks like you still have quite a bit of roll angle in the wing very low. Flatten up that wing higher up and everthing gets better. Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream

Just do your rating in NZ or AU, transfer is a big hassle, 3 weeks and a couple hundred dollars minimum. Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream

Arguably that point is the transition to a highly loaded xbrace when your sight picture is calibrated for the last canopy. Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream

Better to get ground level then level out with rears or brakes than be on the brakes above ground level IMO ... I repeat, high wind let her rip! Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream

On your high wind - straight in approach the inertia of your body is less than in a swoop. Variations in wind speed during the approach probably resulted in your canopy falling below its stall speed and losing line tension and pressure. There was a video on iloveskydiving with a similar incident. I always let it rip on my velocity when the wind is high. Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream

Todd talked me into working a summer in Houston. I had mentionned to him I was coming to check the place out on a Saturday. I showed up at the old SDH building around 1am after driving across Texas to find a bunch of people partying. Todd says something like "Hey here's our new Tm, you're late dude!". I also think back to ride-on mowing the runway in 100 degrees with Todd, Chris and a couple of bud lights. Can't believe you are gone pal. Another one from Auckland, New Zealand (where to do AFF?)
AdD replied to bobsmith's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I haven't jumped at Skydive Auckland but I used to work for the owner in Taupo and know some of the staff, good people. You will pay a lot for AFF in NZ compared to the USA anywhere you go. Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream -

There are a lot of good swoopers who do not compete at all. The fact is the CP circuit is not the easiest to access for people who reside north of Florida. PD can obviously do whatever they want with their products, maybe it is a sign of progress, the times etc, but I am not sure that limiting access to this wing is going to have any material effect on canopy related fatalities/injuries.
