How much experience does he have?

this is a copy of http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=914679;#914679 please see... Edit: This is about whether we should be involved in the X-Games or not... PS: Moderators permitting, I will bump this once per day for the next week. I think it's quite important... (Mod's please PM me if this is not allowed)

OK... after reading numerous threads about skydiving involvement in the X-games, I think it's worth another go... After watching some programmes on the X-games tonight, I think skydiving should be involved. What I need to know is; Should we be involved? Have you got any experience of this sort of thing before? What can you offer the X-games? (Swooping / FF / FS etc ) What would be the best way of presenting skydiving to the masses? I think we all realise that freefall is boring to the whuffo masses... how can we alter this? (all opinions are welcome) I'm going to cross post this to Talk Back, and if I get enough interest, I'll contact the organisers of the X-games, stating our case. If anyone has already done this, please let me know by the 21/2/04. This will be when I call the organisers... I've been involved with organising UK-wide events for the BCPA events for the last year and a half. I'd really like to see skydiving become commonplace on TV, but we have to offer the distributors a serious event. Would you be interested? If any very experienced skydivers would like to help, to lend creedance to my case, please post here

boil it then let it cool... not particularly helpful if you want to drink it now though. That should kill anything in it.. but then I did vote that I wouldn't even look at the expiration date...

Blimey.... preassure's on ... umm, next meet after valentines? Scots.. BCPA Scottish Regional Event Dates TBC @ Location TBA (this is in the pipeline - I'll post here as soon as it's been confirmed). BCPA Southerns Regional Event March 20th - 21st @ Netheravon BCPA Foreign Trip 2004 30th March - 15th April @ Perris and Elsinore, California, USA BCPA Northerns Regional Event May 1st - 2nd @ Hibaldstow As for hassles with the uni, feel free to drop me a line or even post here... part of what the BCPA does is try and get uni clubs recognised and improve funding for them. We've got a wealth of knowledge from people who have set up clubs previously, as well as fundraising ideas and how they handle their unions. Hopefully this year will see us being recognised by BUSA, and then the uni's will be unable to deny us funding Fingers crossed. Will

Hi Zoter. For travelling in the UK, it is good to get hold of the CAA's Cypres-exemption letter if your rig has one. Go to BCPA website and click on "Important advice about airports and AAD's. The download is at the bottom of this page. Will

lol! Simple things can make life seem so much better... like finding a jump ticket in your wallet when you thought you'd used them all, or even just waking up and seeing a perfect jumping day when you expected it to be shite. But none of those compare to finding a 3rd(!) Twirl bar I'd be buying lottery tickets right now if I was you... you're obviously 'in the zone' as the yanks would say

Well, looks like there's only one thing for it... mindless post whoring

there must be something to do! You're in the city for gods sake. I'd swap places with you in a heartbeat if you want - I'll wander round there, and you can sit in a tiny villiage in the middle of nowhere. You might see a sheep and on very special days, a bus goes past. Thats it... really....

For a change I've been working today too. Got an e-mail inviting me for final interview next month and I have to prepare a 10 minute presentation to 'sell myself'. I hate doing stuff like this - reminds me of doing all my UCAS forms and shit. "hire me please. I'll work dead hard need the money so that I can go jumping on my weekends off..." Doesn't exactly take up 10 minutes does it?

That'd be fantastic! The only RW formation ever where the cameramen have to hop n pop in order to film the bugger.. -
Aber's got a skydiving club?? Great... get everyone trained up and come along to the next event. Have you been registered with us before? I think there's a reduced rate for new clubs... Will

Why isn't skydiving part of the X-Games?
yoink replied to gerryfuss's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Unfortunately I'd have to agree. whilst I'll happily sit there watching Airspeed, VMax etc, none of my whuffo mates understand just how difficult it is. Comments like: "It's like synchronised swimming" abound. Swooping however... that they don't mind watching, but it is kinda one dimensional unless you're a skydiver. Something like BMXing has variations in each run which can keep the watcher interested. I'm not sure watching skydiving is a long term proposition. Will -
