  5. What are peoples thoughts on watching your canopy as it deploys? A couple of people, more experienced than I, have told me recently that I ought to get out of the habit of watching my canopy deploy. They think that looking up makes you more prone to off heading openings and twists and that it's better to look down and feel the opening through the harness. I like to look up because I like to know what's going on and if I get twists I'd rather they were infront of my head than behind. Thoughts? Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

  8. No! I used to have an Atom 0 with a Spectre 150 in it and that was quite snug enough. A 170 in an 00 is asking alot and even if you shoehorn it in there you're surely risking deforming the container or a whole load of other potential problems. Bottom line is that an 00 is not designed to hold a 170. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
  9. I think Robi and Yuri (and others) are approaching 2.5:1 in their wingsuits. 1:1 tracking implies the same horizontal speed as vertical so even if you dropped your fallrate to 80 mph you still need 80 mph of forward speed to get 1:1 - sounds a bit optimistic to me. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

  11. I think it's a good idea but I see the problems people are pointing out. So why not add a "I jump here" button for each dropzone in the listings which would add you to a visible list of dz.commers that jump there. That way you could add yourself to any number of places.   13. I lent my GTi to a friend and he came back complaining of an involuntary turn. In that case the suit was a little big for him and he thought it was because he couldn't properly tension the wings. I just blamed the pilot! Tonto did you get any video of you in flight? I've found the easiest way is to take the tension off the chest strap by reaching across (with your left hand on a Wings) and pulling the harness together - then use your free hand to open up the chest strap's friction adapter and let it all out.   15. A question inspired by this post where Aubrey says he's using a tandem reserve in his (solo) rig..... I thought a TM had once told me that tandem reserves were designed to open slowly (ie 1000+ ft). Is that the case? If so and if you're using one presumably your hard deck needs to be significantly higher than if your reserve was designed to open in 300 ft. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

  18. This should be outrageously simple but I can't figure out how to remove the headlight bulb on my 1996 Vauxhall Corsa. There's a black plastic 'wiring connector' (as my Haynes manual calls it) that slides over the three metal prongs at the back of the bulb, the manual just says "unhook and release the ends of the bulb retaining clip and release it from the rear of the light unit" but I can't get it off! Am I just being stupid? Any help would be much appreciated. Alternatively does anyone know of any good car maintenance forums? Thanks, Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

  20. How tight is the closing pin? One of the potential problems with what you're doing is that with the lower volume of a smaller canopy there won't be enough tension on the closing pin to keep it securely closed. There may also be problems associated with using a dbag that's too large for the canopy but I don't really know. Anyone? Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

  22. I don't mind hearing it - infact I agree. Any time you let anyone else do something to your rig (be it repack the main, repack the reserve or build the harness) you have to accept the chance that they'll do it wrong. If you can't accept it then do it yourself. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
