Why Pro and Anti-Gun Advocates Are Not Speaking The Same Language
Bolas replied to Dean358's topic in Speakers Corner
It's a partnership. No one person or group can do it all alone effectively. Soldiers need our help. People support the troops in many ways. Police need witnesses to speak up as well as contact them . Doctors need people to tell them their symptoms. Teachers need the parents to be involved. This person's argument reeks of entitlement thought. Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh. -
You forgot two key words... Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.

If a crazed teacher decides to start shooting people, do you really think a "gun free zone" law will stop them from bringing in a gun? However, if in the remote chance one of these legally armed teachers did go crazy and started shooting, one of the other armed teachers and/or school staff would be able to quickly respond and put a stop to it by whatever means necessary.
-
There should be no such thing as a "gun free zone." The laws should be changed requiring x number of armed guards per y occupants if they wish to ban legal gun owners from carrying Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.

Not the same issue? WTF ... A crazed man walked into a school in China with the intention of harming innocent children. A crazed man walked into a school in the US with the intention of harming innocent children. Sure guns are more efficient weapons than knives, but yes these two are the same. Neither the knife nor the gun woke up this morning and decided they wanted to harm children. What is this world coming to? It is the human who has gone over the edge, not the inanimate object. We should start blaming places more. If we ban schools, there can be no more school shootings. Union supporters in michigan have anger issues
Bolas replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
Unions had their place and served a purpose at one point, but didn't change with the times and just tried desperately to cling to their diminishing power. One way unions could become relevant again is to become process and procedure advocates only: get out of compensation, benefits, and employment. We all have stupid, no value, wasteful things our companies make us do. A collective voice that would work with management to provide them better decision making data and alternatives might be something people would be willing to join. -
And, by golly by gee, I'll bet the budget would be balanced. I'm sure that if that happened there would be plenty of cuts that could be made. no, we'll be like Greece, with people rioting in the streets and GDP nosediving due to the paralysis. Except it'll be worldwide... Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.

If the guards take their job and enlistment oath seriously, not a thing would happen, except perhaps the flipper getting bored and moving on. It never ceases to amaze me how some conservatives think so little of our troops as to believe them incapable of handling an uncomfortable situation without resorting to violence. So they would not be within their rights asking her to leave and escorting her from the premises for her own safety? I think these Christians were jealous of all the Islamic extremist countries and wanted one of their own. I suggest you read Frank McCourt's book Angela's Ashes, about growing up in Ireland in the 1930s & 40s. Then read the news story from a few days ago about the Indian woman who died recently after being refused a (possibly medically necessary) abortion at a hospital in Ireland. Christian extremist countries in modern times is not a recent concept. Sorry, but while a country letting someone die because they wouldn't allow them an abortion is messed up, backwards, and tragic, it stills needs to remain in a separate category than a country that is passing a law to execute people for sexual orientation. Perhaps extremism could be defined as withholding lifesaving options and radical extremism as taking lives? Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.

I was referring to other countries and corporations directly. Besides, taxes don't directly pay for the DOD today. That's part of the issue as most taxes go to the general budget and aren't earmarked so there is no correlation. Because Defense (an unpalatable euphemism, as you've pointed out) spending is a huge giveaway and form of corporate welfare to defense contractors! That's why conservatives love it. The irony about the DOD is it could easily become either self sustaining or even a surplus generator if corporations and/or countries that benefited from them actually had to pay for their services.

One commonality in all of these situations are the ones on both sides that negotiated the original deals that caused the issue, pocketed the profits long ago and are gone. Decisions made for short term gain with long term negative future consequences. Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.

I'm impressed they used modern canopies and not rounds. Sliders, pilot chutes and d-bags too.

So according to you the GOP spent billions on a race they could not win? Not really a great example of fiscal prudence. The difference is was their money to spend. A concept most Democrats and many Republicans fail to grasp. Sort of. Too much emphasis on fundraising and not enough on campaigning was the big killer. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/how-race-slipped-away-from-romney.html The GOP now needs to do what the Democratic Party did when they lost to Bush Jr. for the second time.

Having Puerto Rico as the 51st state won't be so bad. Or are you talking about something else that happened last night? Just where is that star going to go on the flag? States will either merge or some may secede... Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.

Great job Don! And don't even think of lighting up at any time in the future! Cuz if you do, I'm gonna blast you in the face with a super soaker filled with icy water. Congratulations Don.

Unless the SCOTUS overturns loads of federal precedent, Oregon will be smacked down like it was in Gonzales v. Oregon. Thanks to "progressive" thinking, there is no such thing as conduct that the federal government cannot regulate as "commerce." And since the federal government is supreme to the states, the states will just have to suck it up. Unless states start barring DEA agents and resisting federal control. The ones with the least debt may be first but states with loads of federal debt may see it as an escape. Wouldn't that be the ultimate irony if the drug war actually led to war. Except for slavery, maybe the confederates were onto something.

Except Cost to much $$$$$ Why could that extra cost not be passed onto the "special needs" passenger? If done properly the extra costs for the time required could be negated versus a "normal" passenger. Factories gain their efficiencies and maintain quality by using identical parts.

We met briefly at Temple a few years back. I've met Sangiro, Skymama, Skybytch, DSE, Billvon, Iandrennan, and tons of posters. I'm guessing you've met AggieDave, so you're my connection to him.

Totally agree. We need to stop the "one process one price for all" mentality. Some passengers are going to need more attention/time to properly accommodate so they should pay more and TI's should be paid more so to compensate for the extra time. I'm not saying to hide it. The video has great value internally as a teaching aid as well as shows the resiliency of the tandem system. Were the gear manufacturer and/or the DZO to take action to discipline or reeducate the TI, maybe show it to the FAA as an example of us self policing..
