Pete, Thank you to all of you Guano guys for putting this event together. I'll have some pics online later this week from some of the jumps on Saturday. Iwan -

Favorite one-liners or routine for tandem interviews.
vdschoor replied to weegegirl's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
After the interview in the plane: "Aright.. are you ready? The next step is the big one.. I'll see YOU..... on the outside.. " ha ha.. Actually that is probably the cheesiest one I've heard.. I just throw different things in there, depending on the customer.. how active they are.. -
Do you know many jumps you have on your Cypres1 batteries
vdschoor replied to Hooknswoop's topic in Gear and Rigging
I didn't know exactly.. but I knew I only replaced the batteries a little over a year ago and they were ready to "go... " And so they did a couple of weeks ago -
"Do you want the extra insurance with this?" Just playing devil's advocate again.. for students, I agree it should be covered by the DZO. For rental gear though.. it's a bit different.. You total a rental car.. unless you have the additional insurance.. you're gonna be paying a nice sum of money.. It should be the same kind of agreement for renting gear from a gear store / DZO. So.. new twist.. Someone is looking to buy their first canopy.. they are looking for a 190 sized canopy, and I happen to jump one. The gear store doesn't have it, and asks me.. "can you let this guy / girl jump your 190 to see if they like it?" Me.. being the dumbass that I am.. say.. "sure.. go ahead" The guy / girl chops.. and loses my canopy.. who's gonna pay for a new one? Me? The Gear store? the guy / girl that cut away? I think as soon as you're off student status and you are renting gear.. you are responsible for returning it.. if you can't.. you pay.. how much? that depends on the agreement you have with the person that rented you the canopy (or any other gear for that matter) I am usually pretty easy with giving people gear to use.. but one of the first things I do say: You break it.. you bought it... I think that's fair.

The mini DV camera will work fine for you, regarding the still camera, you can go either Canon or Nikon (depending on what you already had...) If you already had a Nikon SLR, go Nikon (the D70s is VERY nice) If you already had Canon, stick with that and get the Canon Digital Rebel XT or the 20D (depending on what you want out of your camera) If you're on a budget, look for a used Canon Digital Rebel (the older model) If you're just starting off with flying camera, stick with just video first, before adding stills. Stills is a whole different ballgame. Start of working with just video, you learn about framing, distance to your subject and all that.. after that, add the stills Iwan

Quick question... you bought a DVD camera? or did you mean miniDV camera? Just check if the camera takes a remote control to take pictures, thats a minimum requirement. Personally.. If you can't afford a good camera right now, hold off and save up until you can.. cause you're going to want the better camera anyways.

Just curious... what do u mean? how did things go this year? The trend this year was bigger wings with more weight, to get to the same wingloading.
-
Congrats dude!! That is very cool news.. Iwan
-
yep.. they are two people in front of the video, and one person flying the video.. the three together make it a team. Go ahead and train all season, if you're dialed in flying with each other you should be able to do pretty well for yourself like they said earlier. And you might be competing against me next year.. thinking about going to nationals with a freefly team, even though I would have to compete as a guest. Have fun! Iwan

"I love you" in public is the next level up from calling someone a WHOORE.. that's why I blushed..
