  1. Thank you. I think the static line program is a very good program, it just focusses more on exit body position and canopy flight..
  2. you want me to grow up in the bonfire section have you read some of the shite that gets posted in here? Is it ok to talk shite if you're well known in the bonfire section, but if a newbie comes in who we collectively don't like, we'll chastise him and cry for him to be banned? Nope.. even well known people get banned from here.. And growing up in the bonfire is impossible... I know.. don't worry.. nice you took it personal though
  3. I was kinda wondering what the hell is all this panties-in-a-wad about on this website these days.
  4. Yeah.. i do know those.. I was one of them.. I laughed my ass off when those poor AFF people had to do their hop and pop from 3500ft and shit their pants, cause they were expecting to be under canopy for well over a 1000ft by then.. Grow up, what the hell is all this smack talking about on this website these days.... Signing off....
  5. Yeah dude.. lighten up.. its really not that serious Good advice though.. I hope someone brings a pair of binoculars so we can spot from altitude a bit better too.. From Google Earth Fort Gordon looks huge, and clear.. but I dont know how old those images are.. See you all on Saturday! I can't wait...

    Dublin

Whats this Dublin thing that everyone keeps talking about?
  7. Aright! I hope there's no speed restrictions on final Can't wait
  8. He he.. you gotta love google.. I downloaded Google Earth and checked out the area, anywhere close to Fort Gordon would be absolutely money, cause there is so much landing area it's not even funny. It would be nice to know what the conditions of the terrain is.. but that's asking a bit much probably.. looks like all flat fields.. By the way.. the clearance, was that given by the people there? Did you inform a local S&TA or are these "oops we fell out of the balloon"-kind of jumps? See you on Saturday! Iwan
  9. When I was shopping for my camera helmet I looked at this one.. What are the advantages of this one over the Flat Top Pro from Bonehead?
  10. And what are the updates on landing area / areas? I've been looking on google maps / satelite but I can't get close enough to really see the area. I did find a lot of golf courses though :P he he..
  11. :11:0 No beer owed this weekend!! Worked a little, played a little, drank a little, ate a little.. he he.. i think I gained 10 pounds this weekend And now.. a nice 4 day workweek
  12. The FTP fits whatever you want.. it's just a flat mounting surface. I haven't seen the VX2000 jumped, but I saw the Sony PD170 and VX1000 jumped, as well as the new Sony HD (FX-1) and the Canon XL2
  13. What are your load minimums this year with the King Air? Alana and I jump at the same dz here in NorCal.. I could be tricked into another trip to Cabo
  14. ok.. I'm only an amateur when it comes to dealing with winds, since we hardly have them in Byron but here's my advice.. After you land, let both toggles up and pull down on one side of the risers to steer the canopy into the ground.. walk up to it, and step on your pilot chute bridle.. walk up to the canopy with one foot on your PC bridle.. done! It works in 10-40mph winds.. I've tried it..
  15. WHOOAAAA.. Her excuse better be good.. cause its not going to be good enough!! I almost wasn't able to make it.. my parents are showing up here in March.. BUT my mom always wanted to go to Hawaii.. so guess where they are going the weekend of the Dublin boogie? I'm sending them to Hawaii.. and I'm going to Dublin!!
  16. Happy birthday Beth!! That was a good party last night, we should do that again.. next week? ha ha Iwan
  17. that is a funny comment.. the Flat Top Pro really isn't all that big, it is just a full face helmet with a flat surface on top. The Flat Top Pro really is that much better. The weight of your equipment is distributed really well over your whole head, it fits like a glove, and is overall just the most comfortable camera helmet I have ever tried. I started off with the Bonehead Full Box helmet (predecessor of the FTP) and then upgraded to the Flat Top Pro. These helmets are AMAZING.
  18. ha ha.. for once I have something else to post :P :12:1 I had my cutaway!! A good weekend in Byron, beautiful weather, no Byron winds.. so surf was up!!!! Iwan
  19. For just freefall.. I can't really say there is a big selling point for the 20D. If I look at overall photography, the 20D is much nicer. Due to its weight, it feels more balanced with bigger lenses (on the ground) It's size: it's easier to hold than the XT (personal preference.. I didn't like the smaller form factor of the XT) and there are more custom settings that can be done on the 20D. Overall the 20D is more camera for your money, which is the reason I went for that one instead of the XT... I agree on not switching the filesize / quality to medium. I only do this for tandems, cause our equipment that we use had some problems with the high res. files.. For fun jumps (or jumps that are not for tandems) I use the large setting.. as big as possible, sometimes even RAW. Iwan
  20. If you have the hookup there.. have them start supporting the Mac I'll sign up if they do..
  21. Best advice I can give you is talk to the camera flyers at your home dz.. Look at their helmets.. and ask lots of questions..
  22. do you have a video camera yourself? If not, no problem, i'll bring my laptop and I can burn the footage on DVD for you. Iwan
  23. Nothing ever happens in Byron I'll be there though, I'm sure there will be a nice crew out Yeah, don't you live there? Must be why you smell - no running water. That has nothing to do with water, I'm European, and according to Americans those people smell, and on top of that my diet doesn't help either..
