So I'm looking to get a new laptop, PC is seriously not an option, I'm tired of them and have been using a Mac desktop for a while now and I love it. My desktop is an iMac G4 1Ghz 17", very nice, performs well. What I want to do on my laptop is: email web browsing (postwhoring on this site) video editting photoshop all this is also done on my iMac and it works fine.. that's why I am wondering.. should I just go for an i Book, or get a powerbook.. Sell me on the powerbook? What are the big advantages over an iBook?

Banana!! I think you need a Sabre2 135 that way we can jump the same canopy again. ha ha.. just kidding here.. let me know if you want to try mine, you're more than welcome to in Atlanta, we can just switch out canopies.. The stiletto is very sensitive to body position, I had the same experience on that canopy the first couple of jumps. I loved the canopy though after I figured out what I was doing wrong. I stuck to the Sabre2 in the end though. The Sabre2 is more forgiving when it comes to body position on opening. Have fun trying all the different canopies out there!

Help getting Spectre 230 to "shut down"

Chad, Have an experienced canopy coach / pilot or an instructor watch or video a couple of your landings and give you feedback on what you are doing. Like others said already the Spectre has a pretty long flare stroke, and you might not be finishing your flare... or the brake lines might be a bit too long.. there are many things that could cause these kind of landings for you.. Getting feedback from someone with a lot of experience will help you fix those.. not reading about it Have fun and be safe! -

I don't know what you are trying to get to.. but yes.. Some of the skills you have to show to get your A license, you need to show in order to graduate aff. So if you never graduate from aff, you will never have your license..

So what benefits do I get out of the 580 compared to the 550 in your opinion? I have been thinking about it, but I can't make up my mind.. I shoot my camera in manual mode almost all the time, same thing with my flash.. I set flash exposure compensation to +1 (configured on the flash) and everything else is manual.

I am not shooting with the Digital Rebel anymore, I upgraded to the 20D earlier this year. 560EX? I've never heard of that one, all I know of is the 580EX. I am extremely happy with my 550EX and in fact I am looking into getting a second one and build a stills only setup. Iwan

Here's what I have, it's a custom built mount, with a Stroboframe camera plate attached, so it can be easily added / removed when I don't want it. Regarding the real estate / weight: I put the battery pack on my chest with a belt.

You are very welcome.. And for your reference, I'm closing up on 1400 jumps, and I am still on a Sabre2. Granted mine is loaded up fairly heavily.. that canopy still has much more in it than I am able to get out of it.. Take it easy and be safe!

An intermediate canopy that you can learn to swoop on? You're on a Springo 160 right now, personally, I'd recommend the Sabre2 or Pilot 170. It is still too small for your experience and exit weight, but you sound like a guy that's not going to listen anyways, since you're already yelling at people on here that want to help you out. I can only speak for the Sabre2 as I havent jumped a Pilot yet, but that canopy can teach you all the tricks you need and if flown right, will allow you to outswoop many people that think they need "higher performance canopies" to swoop. First of all.. that Springo (I am not familiar with it) will allow you to do all of that too, look for a coach locally that will teach you and help you progress..

I used to shoot with the 550EX on my 300D, there is no sync port, you need to use the Canon Off Camera Shoe Cord. Regarding keeping up with your camera, the best way to go there is to get a Quantum battery pack, those packs will allow your flash to keep up with your camera, I haven't (personally) seen other battery packs do this. I use the Canon Transistor Pack E, and it really speeds up the recycle time, but it is still not as fast as the camera. I've seen 550EX's keep up with the 20D when connected to the Quantum Turbo 2x2 It's all about how desperately you need the flash... how many jumps do you have without the flash? I personally only take it on jumps where I think I am gonna see what I call "money shots" if it's just another fun jump, I don't bring it. I'm getting very good results both with and without flash. When I use the flash though, it brings out the colors and all that stuff.. It brings the picture more alive.
