Wow, somebody else listens to them. I already mentioned them in this thread though. And to be picky, it's *you* black emperor... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

All this talk about NPS protests/meetings has got me thinking. Terminal wall jumps, specifically with a wingsuit, are one of my distant goals in the parachuting world. I always assumed I would be traveling to Norway for this. All legality issues aside, focusing strictly on geography, does USA have walls that rival the famous European ones, in terms of altitude, and whatever else makes a terminal wall attractive to a wingsuit jumper or tracker? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

has anyone got any video of people tracking feet first?
The111 replied to Newbie's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Was he on his belly or back? Were legs fully extended? Arms? I'm trying to picture the body position here. Thanks. www.WingsuitPhotos.com -
Here is the whole video, complete with first person view. He falls away on his back and gets a perfect shot of the plane with canopy still attached... there is a thread somewhere on here and I'm pretty sure the canopy cleared eventually. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

What sort of body position does he use for that, Chuck? Sounds really hard, since our CG is so far forward we're naturally suited for headfirst flight. I don't doubt what you've said, but I have a real hard time figuring out the logistics of it... www.WingsuitPhotos.com -
Nice job, Tom. I could be misreading it, but the first sentence in the next to last section ("What We Seek") seems poorly, if not incorrectly, worded. Just something I felt I'd point out. Let us all know how the Parks and Recreation people react to this meeting. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Good one... I was thinking of that myself but on my "borrowed" version of the album that song is split up into separate tracks, even though it is clearly one song. Hell, the whole album is one song as far as I'm concerned, as is their first, Deloused in the Comatorium. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

2 minutes, 7.234 seconds. In all actuality, we won't know until we try. I'm curious myself, and am a bit skeptical it would result in HUGE gains, but I guess every bit of forward progress is a good thing. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Scott, I think he is asking about the Phi. The "first suit" i.e. the other new suit. It has a "cowlicked leg wing" and "rear arm wents" (inlets on the back). As far as I know, GB, the rear arm inlets are for inflation on your back. I don't know why the leg wing is shaped like it is, but I'm sure there's a reason.

Brian Eno rules, and I would say that counts. When I get home and have access to my full music collection I'm gonna run a better search. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Interesting Although another report I found of the same song described it as only 26 hours. Not sure you could find that one on a CD though. EDIT: Gotta love being Google-beaten by a few seconds. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

There's a metal band I listen to called "Edge of Sanity", and they have an album called Crimson with exactly one track on it - 40 minutes long. I think it's semantics though to some extent. Dark Side of the Moon is practically one song as far as I'm concerned... EDIT: A search of my HDD revealed another 23.5 minute Floyd track - Atom Heart Mother. A post-rock band called Godspeed You Black Emperor! regularly puts out 23 minute tracks... and I'd imagine there are other post-rock bands that have this topped. Tubular Bells is a great album too. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I think it will go away with time, and as more suits and companies emerge. You never hear this kind of stuff in the canopy or container world. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I'm also curious to hear impressions. Also, for that BASE jump (or the skyjumps) do they just use BOC? No pouch? It's amazing from the pics how far away from the edge of the wings the hackey is... it looks like one could never reach it, but I know looks can be deceiving - even on my S3, it looks like a far reach, and on the ground when I practice pull I always grab wing, but in the air the wing moves aside and the hack is there. I personally prefer BOC, but having heard horror stories about BOC use with the V1 (Cancer Chris), I wonder how you manange to use BOC on this monster of a wingsuit. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

How about have 150 jumpers show up and offer to pay a reasonable sum of money to have rights to jump NPS land (or even just a specific exit point) for a year? Maybe I'm way off here, I have no handle on these kind of things, that money may be very attractive to NPS, or they may laugh at it (it may be nothing compared to the cost of a rescue). Before trying a protest jump, make sure you have tried everything else. How many BASE jumpers are in the US? How many have written letters to the proper people asking permission, or for a change in the laws? Hell, I don't BASE (yet), but I'd write a letter if I knew where and how. How about all BASE jumpers do this, and get a few skydiver friends to do it too (triple your numbers - they don't know the difference between sky and BASE)! And do it every week for the next 8 years! (ever seen Shawshank Redemption?) Tom, is it a bad idea to have a sticky thread in this forum with simple instructions (for political idiots like me) on where and how to write a polite letter asking for permission to jump, or for a change in the laws? How about you start off just asking for access to one exit point? (this way they have less environmental concerns) www.WingsuitPhotos.com

My S3 grippers don't flap if I let them go. This weekend I took a solid 20+ second dock with a new flyer in a GTI. We turned and accelerated while holding the dock with very little tension. One of the coolest wingsuit experiences I've had yet... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Nope, as I said, the cables are still good just before exit. Without a doubt, it's happening during flight or on deployment. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Or more interesting. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Congrats man, now try to explain chasing cars and flying through cloud tunnels to a whuffo (or even a non-wingsuit jumper for that matter!) Welcome to the flock! www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Here's a post I made yesterday about a site I accidentally found (through Google) for "Scary Perry"... although it's not the Scary Perry we know and love from skydiving. As far as my name, I'm a captain, fullback, and underwater photographer apparently, among other things. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Hehe, I talked to Perry last night and asked him if he saw this post. First thing he says: "yeh, did you see the girls on that guy's page?!" www.WingsuitPhotos.com

That's the weird part... I am also sure I have the "perfect skip". When standing up straight, the laterals rest lightly against the tabs underneath them, while there is a small gap above them. This gap allows the rig to move up slightly (when I am suspended from the harness), but even when I pull the rig up all the way, the laterals don't quite touch the tabs above them (which is good). The weirdest part about all of this is it never happened in 100 jumps with the same tab skips... I could try skipping two tabs just for the hell of it. But first I am going to see if it even happens again next jumping session. Part of me thinks the problem will strangely disappear the same way it strangely appeared. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Looking at the picture somebody posted... is that really a "span"? It seems like more of an overhanging platform to me... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

"...and you're boring." Probably won't accomplish your objective of keeping the conversation going though. There's no easy way... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

This is what I have heard about it... that the visuals are amazing if you have clear water and good reefs to go over. People who have done it in good conditions say between the flow of the water over your body, and the visuals you get, it feels much "faster" than surfing on top of the water. Obviously it's not faster (compared to riding the break sideways on a board), but the feeling definitely sounds cool. It's true people have been doing similar things forever, and this name may not stick... but it is being brought to a very new level today, and the variant of it I am referring to is done entirely submerged (including your head) which is where freediving (apnea) skills come into play. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
