  1. I think a new law has been passed since so many folks do a lot of international travel for the gov't on short notice for long durations. I think the law exempt's these folks from a penalty for breaking their rental lease among othe long term commitments If you got the look how about you got to got called up to play in the sand.
  2. lets look at the advantages and disadvantges of letting your boss/coworkers know what you do on your own time. some people will think your "cool" because your a skydiver and it's somethng they aslways wanted to do. Some people will think your useing poor judgement, and have a high probability of getting hurt. Or because your having so much fun on the weekends your work is less than 110% during the week. If your in the middle of a big project or have a key position in the company (making the boss look good) and you have a accident then the boss is going to have to hustle & project/schedule will suffer. I found that the less people at know about your private life the better off you are. Boss asks What you doing this weekend? Bible study, Work out, Choir practice, volunteer work, take care of sick parents etc. Boss thinks your a real responsiable person. R.I.P.
  3. Hi File the police report. Get estimates, beware of any signs of physical discomfort, you body may be like your car, injuries may take some time to show up. Rental car? do you need it? If so get one after finding out cost to fix car, & duration. It's also a incentive for the insurance company to get the insurance co to act on your claim since their paying for the rental car. Check your auto insurance policy. Since the lady that hit you isn't a mechanic how does she know the cost of repairs will be minor, or how long they are going to take.? Beware R.I.P.
  4. Check with Z-hill for latest price a couple years ago 22,000 ft, price two lift tickets $40. R.I.P.
  5. Notice the position of the right foot and the arms. My guess their either going down or something is coming up. Maybe the just droped their cell phone?
  6. We jumped in Kansas so we were a little behind the times, and backing up a lot of times. We did see a visiting jumper hook his PC in during high winds to get penertration for a nice standup. His timing was perfect. Never had the gut's to try it on rounds and or even squares when I was still jumping. A person can really hurt themselves doing that stuff if they screw up The grapevine back in the day was a little slower and the winds would blow the smoke signals away befor they got to far, but don't remember hearing/reading about any bad accidents. Just folks saying don't do that. So we would just land backing up with minor injuries. The barb wire fences were useful for stopping you from getting dragged to far in case you got knocked out on landing. R.I.P.
  7. Your list leave's out all the poor choices we made thru the CIA (sp)? through their unoffical support of unpopuler leaders, (Shaw of Iran) etc or the CIA's policy of encouraging the overthrow of leader's of countries that did not agree with our national or economic interests. Suger cane, coffeee beansetc. R.I.P.
  8. Warning Lable ! if those bags fail to deflate after impact there is a potential for injury from lack of air supply. Useful life of the bags is only X number years after that they will have to be replaced. During useful operating life they are high maintenance $$$$. R.I.P.
  9. I plan to talk to my insurance agent and, if this argument of theirs comes up, offer a different perspective: main canopy cutaway due to life-threatening emergency. IMO the less said to the insurance co is better. Do not lie to your insurance company this is fraud. However as we found out with President Clinton the proper use of the english language is a powerful tool (That wasn't sex). Why can't you find your canopy? How do you know it wasn't stolen by a nylon freek after the cutaway? "someone stole my canopy" Where was it? on the DZ or next to the DZ etc If the insurance compaany asks more specific questions don't lie answer them with the proper use of the english language. IMO the insurance company may decide your inabilty to find your canopy "due to a life threatening emergency" is not covered by your policy. Read the fine print! and write down what you want to tell them before you call your agent to report the theft if thats what may have happened. Of course if you recover your main at a later date either cancel your claim if soon enough or give them the recoverd canopy. R.I.P.
  10. Hi Folks The guy (tom) who got hurt at spaceland is entering a very critical phase in his potential recovery. (see incident forum) However since this is the forum for best wish's, good vibes, etc this guy needs it now! lets all pull together for the guy. Seriouse vibes best wish's to tom and family. R.I.P.
  11. Beware of where your standing during the dirt dive or camping. Some DZ's are infested with fire ants. And other nasty bugs and snakes. Skydivers, booze and campfires can make people do stupid things. Like fall into the fire. R.I.P.
  12. Some fear is good, it will keep you sharp and keep you from screwing up. To much fear (total brain lock) is bad. It will slow down your reaction time. R.I.P.
  13. What he said! When you read the accident reports learn from them tell yourself don't do that. Your chance of dieing in the sport can be reduced by 50% by simply flying a properly sized canopy and learning how to fly it. Keep your head on a swivel under canopy for other folks that aren't paying attention. Keep looking until your safely back in the packing area. Don't get on loads that you don't think your ready for even if invited. Same with high winds or last load of the day (ends up as a night jump). Practice your emerency procedures so you will react automatically, you can have a mal on any jump. R.I.P. Who says skydivers are stupid we invented a whole new ways to kill ourselves.
  14. Trying covering the toilet with saran wrap and then put the toilet seat down. The folks who do a back in at the toilet and sit down will be pissed off/on. Don't do this at home, a drunken party works and they will never figure out who did it. If you can keep a straight face. R.I.P.
  15. We've got plenty of gun laws on the books already. The problem isn't that the laws don't work it's the lack of enforcement. Use a gun commiting a crime first strike your out (sentence for 30-40 yr's no time off) no plead deals. You do the crime you do the time. Mandatory minimum. Federal prison system has increased population by 300% over the last 10-15 years the placed is filled with street level drug dealers. First offense street level drug dealers spend more time in jail than armed criminals. A bad person can only break a gun law once if he never gets out of jail. R.I.P.
  16. Way over priced! Missle silo's complexe's were sold in Kansas. All the equipment is very old hard to get parts hasn't been turned on in X years .Elevator breaks, take a hike. Asbestos, and PCP's would need to be removed prior to remodel. The weather in Central WA. is terriable in the summer and winter. Undeveloped property in that area is probably way cheap. There's a reason that stuff is located in the boonie's.If it ever got hit by the dirty commies nukes loss of life would be minimal. Wonder what the Gov't is selling that stuff for on the military surplus market. Might work for an importor of goods from south america or the golden triangle. They got plenty of money to spend. Discount for cash! R.I.P.
  17. What's with all this light, noise and slapping my butt. I want to go back into my nice warm quite womb. R.I.P.
  18. >>The guy is Lebanese and just came home from a 3 month trip there. He's retired (at age 35, no physical ailments, gotta love the welfare system here) so he usually takes his retirement check and then goes off to Lebanon. Anyway, he showed me some of the souvenirs he had picked up. >> Looks like the uneducated red necks are not restricted to the US. The guy's 35 so he's been listening to 3 decades of hate. I wouldn't be surprised if a US business person doesn't import that stuff for sale on E-bay. Me thinks there would be a market here for it's red neck BS. Great gag value, the collector's here would snap it up, in 30 years it might be worth something. Be sure and keep the box!
  19. Look up the 800 number under dropzones on the websight and give them a call R.I.P.
  20. You've got 55 jumps so you know what's going on safety wise. Go to the DZ and check it out. Do you think their operating in a safe manner, are the following the BSR's etc. Most DZO's like any small business person are independent by nature. DZ's are not required to join USPA. How may DZ's applications for GM status has has USPA turned down. Read previous posts about USPA visiting GM DZ's to insure the BSR's are being followed. Does anyoneone know If Ted Mayfields DZ in oregon was a USPA GM. If it was when or if did USPA take action to remove his GM status. Was it prior to or in response to the state taking legal action against Mr Mayfield after the last accident at his DZ. Why doesn't THE GM DZO's have their own trade organization rather than belonging to a skydiver organization paid for by skydivers. What is the total amount of annual dues paid by GM DZO's to USPA vs the dues paid by USPA jumpers? How many DZO's or their employee's are also ST&A's How many DZO's are on the USPA board of director's? How many fatalities per year occur at non USPA DZ's. Why are some USPA GM DZ's allowed to bar all USPA members (except their staff and students) from jumping at their DZ's. R.I.P. BTW I was a USPA member for approx 15-20 yr's The sport has always been evolving but with the addition of AFF & Tandems the DZO income has significantly increased and the benifit's of the USPA Stamp of approval is significant however financial support of USPA GM due has not increased at the same rate. Politic's? monopoly? Don't know or care I'm no longer a member! Guess why!
  21. Some jobs have a history of being high risk, night shift is even worse. Except for certain ethnic goups the owners don't work there so crime is just the cost of doing business. Ever been robbed? Sort of grew up in NYC didn't have anything but did wake up with people walking thru my apartment, or would wake up and find a open window that had been locked. Funny story:Was staying at my Bro's frat house in the summer. Someone knocked on the door to his room in the middle of the day I was in bed and didn't answer the door. Bad move. The door and door frame "fell" into the room. Big foot and his buddy started to enter, Surprise! I was motivated and they left. I proped the door in the hole and went back to bed. Bro came home WTF happened to my door? Well.... What did the cops say? Say what didn't call the cops this is NYC. LMAO We've been broken into in K.C & Seattle but the folks were real nice visited when we weren't home. Now I have insurance to cover my loss's and don't lock my door live in the country. Got 250 lbs of dog, two mouth's and eight feet. There inside dogs and bark before anyone even see's our house. R.I.P.
  22. The insurance companies are real nice folks and as long as you pay your premiums they will provide you with great customer service. However BEWARE if your a DZ employee and use your rig for work the insurance company may not be able to pay your claim because it's a item you use for work. Found out the hard way when the wifes carpentry tools were stolen and the insurance company noticed her occupation was carpenter. This can be avoided by adding a rider to your policy or being a plain jane/jim skydiver. Talk to your agent to get it clarified if your concerned. The cost of the rider may be minimal. R.I.P. R.I.P.
  23. That's the party line, wonder how the non USPA DZ's handle that problem. R.I.P.
  24. WMD's can be expensive to dispose of properly. In the US we built multi billion dollar incinerator's to burn that crap at the correct temperature and monitor the smoke stack to verify the process is working. We're still burning and may be still building the incinerator's at some stockpile locations because we do not want to transport those jewels. I'm not a IT type of a person but there's was a AP article in this weekends paper entitled "Pentagon auditors "fixed" files report says." The article goes on to say that the I.G. found the auditors spent 1100 hr's altering their files to pass a internal review. The auditor's defense was they were just upgrading their files. which included deleteing electronic files. This is the same agency that is tasked to audit Haliburten's gasoline contract where there's some confusion about $61,000,000 in overcharges. I'm not saying the files that were deleted or upgraded were haliburton files. Bur the agency's ability to conduct themselve's in a independent manner is questionable. Tsk tsk can we believe the 3 star that announced no overcharges were found by these auditor's. Will we find WMD's in Iraq that are useable I don't know it's a big place. Do i care? Hell no. R.I.P.
