  1. You say that like it's a bad thing. lol! You know, I used to say that, too. Then my boyfriend said the same thing you said and I realized, wtf, i'm a cock sucker! lol!! I have since changed it to COCK BITER! So, there you have it, the story of how cock sucker was stricken from my "bad word" list. -A
  2. As it should be. I certainly wouldn't argue that point. But, I still respect a person's decision to always wear a cypres. They have saved lives, and it is good to have everything you can on your side. add the 'r' and I don't think that's a terrible thing. No, they won't make you "safe", but you never know when they might make you a bit _safer_, you just never know when someone might take you out in freefall, etc. You can jump with people you trust all day long, but shit happens. -A
  3. Guess I just don't see why you replied to my post to begin with. Do you disagree? Agree? I didn't really get your war analogy. (down with the war! btw, but that belongs in another forum) And, fwiw, I use a cypres, too, but like I said, i've gone w/o, and if I didn't have one i'd likely still jump but i'd work to get one for sure. I think that it is important to have everything you can on your side, and I have nothing against those who won't do a jump w/o their cypres because you just never know when you might need it and that is why it's there. I don't see any reason in telling someone they shouldn't jump just because they won't jump w/o cypres. Would you jump w/o your reserve? Me, hell no! Not with my main I wouldn't. Maybe for a planned base jump with a ginormous square canopy. You know what, tho, I drive w/o a seatbelt all the time. Guess I just haven't been in a bad accident and needed it so I don't bother. They used to make me nauseous as a kid, now I just rarely bother with it. Is that smart, hell no! Do I think those who won't drive in a car w/o a seatbelt shouldn't drive at all? Nope. I think this is the same analogy. You wear a cypres just in case. You wear a seatbelt just in case. Sure, you should practice your emergency procedures sooner, swirve to avoid a collision, should have paid more attention to begin with... and you plan to do that. But, no harm in wearing the seatbelt because you just never know. -A
  4. thats why i said earlier that i was surprised that Mel wasnt added to the list.......no one else from here has sent me a christmas card and a get well card (from my surgery)...she is truely HOT.....inside and out! I got a card, too! If everyone were a sweet as Mel the world would be a much better place!
  5. cypres generation? I think that`s the general attitude overseas. Fighting with fears and nightmares and urge to be safe. Do you have an opinion about cypres'? Sounds to me like you're talking about war or some other unrelated topic. -A
  6. A type of tree;) Seriously, tho... I think that it is very difficult to tell someone that they shouldn't jump if they aren't comfortable doing so w/o a cypres. Personally, I went without a cypres for 150 jumps, just because I didn't feel the need to get one. Eventually I did, but more for my boyfriend than for me. Eventually, after talking with others, I realize that this is the 'cypres generation', and those who have been in a sport for a long while may not understand that just because some people refuse to jump w/o a cypres doesn't mean they shouldn't jump... it just means that they are part of the cypres generation and want to have everything possible on their side should something go wrong. Hell, if I could have a jumpsuit that would inflate to incredible size and cushion the blow should I come within 100 feet of the ground while going terminal, i'd wear it! No shame in that:) I'm sure that there were jumpers jumping from planes at some point without reserve parachutes. I bet those people don't think that because we won't jump w/o a reserve we shouldn't be jumping at all. -A
  7. Or, how about ... "I do hook turns on my canopy, have 100+ jumps on it, and see no need to downsize at this point. And, when I do feel the need to downsize, the incident reports are not going to affect my decision to do so." !! Honestly, tho, an option just saying that "the incident reports have had and will have no bearing on my choice of canopy or my decisiont to swoop." would have been a good one to add. Looking at the poll it feels like someone is persuading the reader to choose the "YES" box. How about this poll... it has the same type of options: a) You care about your life so you use a Cypres. b) You don't use a cypres because you have a death wish. or, a) You chose a small canopy because you are a wannabe follower who thinks he's cool. b) You chose a large canopy because it was the safest thing to do. -A

  12. Why don't you pm Brian since he'd know better than anyone here would. briansgermain is his dz.com name. I had a Jedei and now have a Samurai, but since they are drastically different in size I can't do a good comparison of them. I love my Sam, tho:) -A
  13. This could be something to look into for sure. I also tested into and was in Gifted classes all my life. I was also later diagnosed with ADHD, but I don't really remember being all that hyper or flaky, I just get bored and my mind drifts. Still happens to this day. That is why I need to take the difficult courses in college, I tend to perform poorly in the easier classes for sheer lack of interest. I ended up dropping out of school because I felt I had better things to do with my time, even the so-called "gifted" classes were boring after elementary school. I finally went back to college later, on my own terms, and got to take the classes I wanted. If they could do this for kids I think it'd make a lot of difference. Anyhow, Congrats, Boinky! I hope your son will do very well in the gifted program, and if you don't feel that he does, you might want to look into other Magnet schools/programs later on. Try to give him access to a lot of fun and challenging things, like mind puzzles, models and legos (especially the ones with motors!), check out the Discovery Store, I think i'd have liked that place as a kid! :D Angela.
  14. You got it! My boyfriend's company also sells POS units, so i'm lucky to have someone at hom who knows a little bit about these things, too! -A
  15. So I hope it has wireless capabilities and a web browser? Yes, well, it has a little switch on the back to turn off wireless, maybe I can put tape over it! -A
  16. I'm trying to resist the urge to install games as that would distract me from studying. Also, it isn't really a gaming pc, a good laptop would be better suited. -A
  17. lol!! Yeah, it is! My new baby is going to be by my side for a long time, seeing me through chemical engineering studies, so I think it was worth every penny (especially since I got such a deal!) thx:) -A
  18. How the hell did my thread about my tablet pc turn into a thread about yeti porn? -A
  19. Betcha can't use that baby for 8+ hours straight, though, huh?! Plus, who needs to take pictures, I have firewire and can d/l from a good camera, not a low-res cellphone cam -A
  20. Gonna save me from my disorganization and the constant, ... WHERE ARE MY NOTES?!/WHERE IS MY HOMEWORK?! crap I go through. I am a disaster, this will help for sure! I will report back after the semester is done to let you all know how i've adapted to life with the tablet. I didn't want a keyboard because I don't intend to really use one at school, and I can plug one in at home if I need to. I am using to take notes, do homework on, etc, at school for 8+ hrs a day starting next Fall. But, if you like the idea of a tablet, but want a keyboard... check out some of the convertibles:) -A
  21. New Fujitsu Tablet! : http://store.shopfujitsu.com/fpc/Ecommerce/buildseriesbean.do?series=O3&ptype=TB This thing is so damn cool! Ok, just had to brag Oh, and, as a bonus, I saved 750$ by buying a refurbished unit that, might I add, is in perfect condition! I even was able to extend the warranty! -A
  22. Is the main lift web too long? I thought I had that problem with my old container and then realized that the gap between my shoulders and my risers was large, and it reduced when the legstraps were tightened more. So, i'm thinking maybe if the mlw was too long you might not be able to tighten enough? My new custom container I have no problems. I am 5'4" and use 21" risers. Angela.
  23. Who cares?! Wear what you want to wear, if some people don't like it.. . fuck them! -A
