I don't feel bound to this country for the sake of it being my birthplace, that wasn't my choice. I definitely want to visit other places, and if I like one more I may move:) -A

Yes, I am quite familiar with the case as is most everyone i'm sure. I still don't find said blog amusing in the least. And, it isn't just that it's in poor taste, (which, of course, it is and i've laughed at many things in poor taste before), it's just that it really isn't funny. -A

I don't get it? Did I go to the wrong clicky? I didn't see anything funny or gross or tasteless or anything...just really boring. Where's the funny part? Or the bad part? There is nothing but ngmmmng blah blah over and over. That's what I was thinking. I wasn't disturbed by it, humored by it, etc.. seemed pretty boring to me. At least now I know i'm not w/o a sense of humor, it just really is stupid. -A

I guess i'm one of the few who fails to find humor in that. -A

"I'm not offering "free tunnel time"" that was a typo on my part, but I meant coaching. I am sure you fly very well, and i'm sure that many people would love to take advantage of your offer. But, as far as you saying you have nothing to gain I beg to differ, but that is beside the point. The point is, you state you are not advertising, and as i've stated the fact is that you are indeed advertising. Do I care? Not really. But, it just seems to me like you are trying to imply that people who want to share time are in the wrong, where your advertisement is ok. And, that is hypocritical, imo. Obviously, due to the fact that you aren't charging they don't see it a problem, but the fact is you are gaining experience with coaching that will allow you to charge in the future. No one buys tunnel time to make money off of it. People buy it and then come on here and ask if others want to share, sometimes so that they have people to play with, sometimes so they can take a break, whatever. But, I highly doubt they are really posting to make $$ off of their tunnel time, and since that isn't the case they have nothing to gain but friends to play with or share time with in the tunnel. Anyhow, i'm not going to continue to argue what advertising is and isn't with you. I guess what I really wanted to say was "lighten up." Take care and best of luck to you with your coaching ventures. -A

Not that I often look for tunnel time, but I think this seems fair. Why be anal about it? Honestly, if I were to want to share time, this would seem the logical place (to me and obviously many others) to post to ask someone if they have time to share. There are pointless threads in EVERY forum... I think this would be one of the more constructive threads, I mean, how many "how much time do I need in the tunnel?" threads have their been? No one complains about those, do they? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=search_results&search_forum=all&search_string=how+much+time+tunnel&search_type=AND&search_fields=sb&search_time=&search_user_username=&sb=score&mh=25 Of course, the threads would need to be locked and restarted now and then. -A ** Oh, and Paige, I think that offering "free tunnel coaching" is still an advertisement. I mean, lets be honest, you are getting to fly in the tunnel with the person, and get more experience with coaching, so doesn't that somehow benefit you, too? Of course, I think it's great that you and someone else can both gain, but it is still advertisement any way you slice it. [Dictionary says : Advertisement: 2 : a public notice; especially : one published in the press or broadcast over the air ] edit for typo.

Out of those two, i'd choose Mirage j/k Seriously, I don't like pop tops personally, so I wouldn't choose either myself. I definitely like the up-tucking main flap much better than Javelin's tuck flap. However, I think the Javelin is better looking than the Wings (except the wings ext, which looks less fat and more normal.) So, tough decision, i'd say neither I got a Voodoo, It was between that, the Vector Micron or the Mirage G4 for me. -A

It's Valium And, if her mother won't let her drive, i'm assuming driving on drugs is out Heal fast, Andrea! Broken stuff is no fun. Follow doctors orders, and if they say take Valium, well, so be it Angela.

And I thought you wanted my recipe for super yummy meatloaf. Guess I should've noted the capital M, huh? -A

Have you been engaged or married before and aren't now??
SkydiveNFlorida replied to girlygirl's topic in The Bonfire
lol! I had to stop going into Speaker's Corner, too. I also stopped reading W/L debates, and all of the "should I be swooping at xx jumps" debates as well -A -

Well, for the sake of the thread, lets agree to disagree, then:) Not going to start an argument up here. -A -

SkydiveNFlorida replied to girlygirl's topic in The Bonfire
My grandmother probably only ever had sex with one man, and was likely brought up to believe that she was meant to make babies and cook, like good women do. Birth control was considered a sin to them, likely the reason I have 8 aunts and uncles. I think that the loss of "moral fiber" from our nation has given us many more choices than our ancestors had. Who cares if the Catholic Church thinks birth control is a sin? Not I, and i'm proud of the fact that I don't abide by their dictatorial rules. I'm proud to work, go to school, and have the ultimate say in what direction my life takes. So, I guess what i'm trying to say is that i'd definitely argue that they were repressed. jmo. Angela. -

I'd say your problem lies more with picking a faithful partner, than with picking better friends. I think that it is terribly screwed up that a friend would have sex with your wife, but I think it is a lot more screwed up that your wife would have sex with your friend. jmo. Angela. -

SkydiveNFlorida replied to girlygirl's topic in The Bonfire
Engaged at 17, broke it off at 20. What have I learned? About myself or about relationships? I have learned, since then, a great deal about myself. And in hindsight I was very foolish to think that I knew me well enough to pick a partner for life at that time. About relationships, I think that regardless of whether you are engaged, married, or just in a long term relationship, you will learn a lot about yourself and how you deal with others (and, how you 'should' deal with others.) And, even if you don't walk away knowing what you want in a person, you at least walk away knowing a little more about what you don't want. I think i'll agree that getting married much before 25, for most people, is probably poor decision making. I'm not saying it can't work, because my grandmother was 16 when she married (my grandfather much older) and they lasted until death parted them. But, I think that it takes more time than we may think to understand ourselves. I'm still figuring me out and i'll be 24 in a few months. -A -
The cheapest i've found for 89octane is 2.15/g, normal is upward of 2.20/g here in the Fort Lauderdale area:( Sure glad I don't have your car/truck, though. I get nearly 30mpg, wish I got more. I still fill up every 4-5 days, tho. -A

Started researching really early on, started looking at 29 jumps, found first gear at 40 jumps. You didn't ask, but thought i'd mention that although I changed mains several times, I didn't get a new container/reserve for another 200 jumps. Tip: Try to buy things used, I bought everything used to begin with. But, if you buy nothing else used, at the very least buy your first main used! -A

I was hesitant to order a pullout because many don't seem to like them (or maybe just don't like the idea of them, as many of those who knock them haven't tried them!) Personally, I LOVE the pullout system! It is hard to explain, but it makes me feel more conscious of pulling. I think about it more, you have to hold it out for longer before letting it go, too, so I really think it helps as far as gaining stability again after pulling (at least for me it does!) I think I was a little lazy about it with the BOC. Not to mention, it just looks better than BOC, imo. So, there you have it, one woman's opinion on the pull-out. There are downsides to both systems, though: With a boc, it would seem more possible to have a premature deployment. With a pullout, a floating pud could be a potential problem one day. :) -A

Good point! I need to identify what my actual needs are and not go overboard. I will have access to countless desktops in the library, plus at home, so why carry one around all day?! I think I might be leaning toward just getting a tablet, and some neat accessories like the scanning tool, etc. Rock! I am really glad to hear that. I want to go around to stores this weekend to check them out and discuss features with store personnel. I plan to buy online, though, to avoid sales tax. thx!! -A
-
hmm. I am trying to figure out what I really need. I will be at school all day long, but will be home with our desktop at night, and there are desktops in the library as well. So, i'm thinking, maybe what I need is a tablet for notetaking and diagram drawing in class, something that also records lectures and even translates them to type would also be nice. One of those scanning devices to scan stuff from books, with the capability to plug into and save the data on the tablet would be great. Would I be able to hook up a tablet to my desktop at home via a usb connection? That way I could take advantage of the cd-rom, printer, etc, on the desktop. I'm trying to be as frugal as possible, but not be too limited, either. Do you think I need a convertible, or could I go with just a good tablet, w/ a portable keyboard and other accessories? thx! -A
-
I'm in the market for a notebook. I only recently found out about tablet pcs. So, now i'm wondering if it would be worth it to get a convertible, tablet/notebook. So, here are my expectations, please inform me of where the tablet pc really falls short. I was thinking that this would be a good tool to write class notes on, store them in different folders and not have to deal with paper. Keep in mind that I have terrible handwriting. So, does it store notes as a picture file of some sort? What can I expect? Like I said, I have poor handwriting, and also as a Chem Engineering student I will likely draw pictures of many things while taking notes (graphs, molecules, equations, etc.) Will the tablet be capable of meeting my needs? Thoughts? thx. -A

How far would you go for a relationship?
SkydiveNFlorida replied to Conundrum's topic in The Bonfire
I would not be in a long distance relationship unless the distance was temporary (ie, the plan was to move soon.) If you love someone, go the distance, plan it out and move. -A -
I have to disagree for this case. If she is sure he is seeing others, yet he flat out lied to her about it, I think he is slime and I wouldn't pursue anything more with him. As far as a "moral" dilemma, I don't see one. As long as the other person knows, and it is a mutual agreement I see no problem with it. I would not personally be able to deal with that, but many are and that is fine by me. jmo. -A

I think you meant "100" Anyhow, jump #29 I seriously started freeflying (sitfly). -A
