Sounds like a fun trip! Too bad I won't see you cuz I don't jump Monday's :( But, maybe next time. I hope you enjoy SoBe. I'd call and see how busy they are during the weekdays, i'm not sure cuz I am not there on weedays. The sunset is amazing! The sunset at Sebastian is nice, too, but I think that the sunsets i've seen here are the most amazing ever! It is so wonderful looking west over lake okeechobee to see the sun setting and the sky in oranges and pinks. Just stunning! Have fun! Angela.

Thanks, Kevin! I would appreciate that:) I was referred for Phys Therapy, and i'll call, but I fear I won't be able to afford it for a few weeks, and if I could do it on my own, even better! Tink, I only had the one injection, and it was today. So, the only results thusfar are pain and inflammation. lol! I'll update, tho! Angela.

My orthopedic dr charges 100$ per injection. It is supposed to take 6 weeks for healing to occur, then another injection may be done if needed. I think Missy is on a different plan because they were injecting her weekly, and at 1cc, and I got 3cc and was told every 6 weeks until better. Talk to your orthopedic dr. Experiencing chronic pain is bad for you. There is an article in January's Scientific American called "Aching Atrophy", a study was done involving a game of selecting cards... long story short, those who had lived with chronic pain continually made poorer choices, while those who hadn't were able to optimize their choices. "Chronic pain, such as that from a bad back, not only saps the joy of living, but also shrivels neurons." ... Anyhow, prolo may be worth it. :) Angela.

thx, Missy! I actually did get a treatment done today. It is all swollen and annoying now, makes it hard to walk. But, what i'm thinking, is why not do it for non-injured areas? Like, my other ankle? Or, my knees that bother me often and seem weak. Am I going overboard, or could this really be a good idea? I'll pm you anyhow, cuz I haven't heard from ya in a while:) Damn, I didn't realize you tore your ACL, that sux! Are you doing better since treatments? Angela.

Aren't there lots of people afraid of clowns? You might scare someone, lol! angela.

Has anyone had prolotherapy? I sprained my ankle quite some time back and instead of resting or going to the doctor, I decided to ignore it. Partially because I didn't want to pay $$ to the doctor that I could spend jumping... and partly because I didn't want to hear "don't play sports". Well, i've finally seen an orthapedic dr, and decided to give prolotherapy a go. It is supposed to strengthen ligaments & tendons, increasing overall size up to like 40%. I have read about people doing this for pain, or just to have increased strength in joints... So, this gets me thinking, why not do it in my other ankle? And, my knees frequently bother me, why not treat them, too? ... Is there any downfall to this? Your thoughts/experiences. ? Angela.

Biospot is over the counter. I have heard bad things about the product, also. I had my dogs on Advantage, then switched to Frontline (flea/tick) until I decided to use Revolution (flea & heartworm & other parasites), great product!. Angela.

I was expecting a baby... That is one adorable pup! What breed is that? Wolf? :D Angela.

Oh, man, I need to check into massage schools around here! ! I agree, the world would definitely be better. I got a hot stone massage for 1.5hrs a couple years ago... I was so happy for a whole week. Then I just couldn't wait to get back! Still don't have the $$, damn hobbies! (eating, skydiving, ) Angela.

I am in a weight training class at my school for wellness credit. We had to input 3 days worth of what we ate into this Dine programs, and it gave us a score. Mine was 12.5% out of 100% :( So, in order to get all of the points for this, I have to create a diet that will get 90-100%. It basically totals everything, carbs, vitamins, calories, different fats, sugar, etc, etc, etc, etc. I can't get past 85%! This doesn't have to be edible (to me), it just has to work! Anyone know where I can find a well balanced meal plan? I am SO frusterated! thx! Angela.

That is SO not true! lol! I tried that trick for many packjobs, and finally, when I stopped cursing at it, it started to work for me. lol! Actually, now that I think about it.... my cursing did pay off since people felt so bad that they helped me Angela.

Me, too. I weighed about 125 and wore like 10-15lbs of weight once I did my release dives. It is funny cuz one of the tandem masters made fun of the aff instructor, , told him he should learn to fly. I was under a 190sf canopy at the time. Hey, now I can blame my botched student landings on lead. j/k Angela.

Yes. I would get more schoolwork done if I weren't on this site all the time. But, it is... so... addicting! Angela.

Yes! And, so, I have no doubt that Tecumseh ROCKS! I have met lots of people from there who have come to SoBe to get some jumps in this winter... everyone i've met has been cool. Ron, the owner, is an awesome guy, too! Angela.

Maybe I wasn't clear. I was talking pre-freefly. I thought I mentioned that, but sometimes I forget the important stuff, hehe. Of course during a freefly jump, if you get unstable, you want to get into a sit. But, if someone goes out on a solo to try to freefly, then get unstable and freak out and lose a bunch of altitude, then need to be able to get to their bellies. I would never go on a freefly jump and go to belly if unstable. I didn't mean to make it sound as if that was the thing to do. OTOH, If I were new, and got really unstable, and never had a sit to begin with, then I couldn't very well recover to it from serious instability, could I? Like I said, i'm not an instructor. The only person I have experience with is me. And, I got sitfly pretty quickly. But, if I had gotten out of control, I like to think that i'd have been able to get to belly. It doesn't hurt to go out and get unstable, it builds confidence that it won't hurt you and there is always a recovery.... plus, it's fun. I still do it sometimes:) Absolutely! Angela.

I am not sure I can answer this with any certainty. But, here are my thoughts... it is probably a good idea to maybe jump out in a ball, tumble around, open one leg, one arm up, see what happens. You're probably gonna keep rolling, but sideways. I can't tell you what positions to get into. These are not front loops, back loops, we're talking flailing here. go out and try to do a split, touch your toes, I dunno, go wild. haha. Get on your back, figure out how to spin, get into a fast spin, then try to stop it and flip and arch. Like I said, I really don't know what the most difficult position to recover to belly from is. But, I think the really IMPORTANT thing is that if you're out of control, you can gain it. So, do what you can to get yourself out of control (see above), then, try to recover. Of course, do this high. Have fun! Flailing is a blast! :D Angela. edit to add : Anyone reading this: TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK! If you cannot immediately recover from a front/back loop, or from a spinning barrel roll... you should not be going farther until you can. Always a good idea to ask your instructor for their thoughts, too! I am not an instructor.

If your pilot chute has not been thrown, then your pin should still be in place, right? Why cutaway? I am not sure I understand, someone please fill me in. Angela.

you don't have to be an instructor to have an OPINION. You have as much right to your opinion as the next guy. If the opinion you have formed in this case is that people should not try to sit fly until xxx # of jumps because your friend so-and-so could not get stable, than I think it is a valid opinion. As long as you relay that you have no actual experience with it, there is not reason not to express your opinion. I'm sure your friend's problem is not uncommon. Everyone learns at a different pace. Some newer jumpers can likely keep a cool head in a scary situation, then there will be others that will flail and freak. Precisely why I think spending some time flailing isn't such a bad idea... but, what would I know, i'm not an instructor or anything Angela.

Hi, Kelly! I have read the replies on here, and it seems to be an argument over what you should do. I think you need to do what YOU want to do! Seriously. If you don't feel comfortable enough on your belly yet, then go play with belly flying. That said, I don't think you should be required to turn a 16pt 4-way or get on a 20-way rw jump in order to start freeflying. Can you flail and get back to your belly? That is the most important thing, because with freeflying you will spend some time flailing, and some time on your back. So, go do a solo, and maybe just practice flailing and then getting back to belly. Until you can do it with minimum recovery time. Tumble, try to sit, etc. Until you know you can get back to belly, cut out all the fun shit at 6-7k and work to get back to belly and stay there stable until pull time. Once you have mastered returning to your belly from flailing, I think you're ready to try freefly! These are just my opinions and thoughts. Just a little background, I started freeflying at -30 jumps. So, no, I probably can't get a slot and turn points on a 12 way, but that's not what my goals are, so IDGAF! Kramer wrote : And, he's right. You should have everything signed off and have your licence by now. If you are having trouble under canopy, make that a focus. Get some canopy coaching. I can't even begin to tell you how important it is! Freeflying and turning points aren't likely to save your life one day.... canopy coaching may! And, don't think that because you don't have your license, you can't try other dzs. I went to 3 dzs in Florida before I got my license in z-hills at 23 jumps. Take care, and have fun! There's probably no reason you can't play around with ff a bit in the sky. I'm not sure you're actually allowed to ff b4 getting you a-license, though. There may be some techincalities there. Either way... there's no rules against flailing! Angela.

Yes. It is much easier to learn to push your legs down when you don't have a lot of drag on them. Generally, move bag up top and less on the bottom is recommended for learning sitfly. Have fun! Angela.
