I'm not a rigger but I'll pack it, a rigger only has to pack it the first time. ??? I thought that you had to be supervised by a rigger, signed off, and sealed by a rigger... I don't think you can just pack your own reserve without supervision or a ticket. Angela.

\omg, sounds like you all had quite a party after I left on Saturday!! Damnittt!! I hope you all visit SoBe soon:D Angela.

This is the safestest scarzey sport der iz! I am so glad that there is no chance I could die doing this since I do everything right! I broke my ( ), should I downsize to a smaller parachute so that the 80mph breeze can flare it for me? My reserve parachute is 80 years old... can someone please pack it for me? How does this three ring system work, anyhow? I only have 50 jumps, how should I know? Can I bring my 7 screaming infants and 8 dogs to the dz and leave them on the ground to be watched by my fellow jumpers while I jump? later:D Angela.

Just remember...keep your hands up, keep your feet moving, and when it gets really bad....beg for mercy and then kick her in the kidney when she turns around to leave. LMAO!! ! WTF??? ! Angela.

A wife, or a credit card? haha. angela.

Is this directed at me? I am in Florida my friend, and there is no f'in way you're gonna get me to pack a 370sf parachute, lol! You're gonna need a tandem packer to pack that mother. I bet it'll cost ya 8-10$ to get that bad boy packed. If I were you, i'd get to practicing, cuz it'll get expensive quick if you skydive a lot. Oh, and, no, I do not flat or roll pack. I only pro-pack, and I might remember how to psycho pack, is that a roll pack? Me, i'd have to be mighty out of employment to take up packing for $$... that is hard work! Angela.

I thought it was just my computer, i'm so glad it isn't. I'll try again later then:) Angela.

Not to mention people like me with canopies that are too large for their containers/dbags. I don't know what the policies are there, cuz I pack my own... but, you gotta be ready for that, too, i'd suppose. When I first learned to pack it was on Jumpnkramers 2nd rig (not the one he jumps) which probably fits a 170 or 190sf parachute and I was putting a 150 in it with problems. I thought it was the hardest thing ever! By the time I finally got decent at it (read 25 minute pack jobs), I got my own container and parachute and then I was stuffing a 150sf zp with 200 jumps in a dbag for a 135sf canopy and a jav tjn. Talk about a pita! It still takes me 15-20 mins to pack depending on if i'm in a rush. You'll need lots of practice. But, determination will get you there i'd think. Good luck! Angela.

Going to FLorida in March . . . which DZ?
SkydiveNFlorida replied to sdgregory's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I agree. Since SoBe is out of the question, my next choice would be z-hills. I love Deland, too, but it is hard to find people to jump with as a newbie, ime. You should have no trouble getting on skydives in z-hills. See what Oren is organizing, maybe you can get on a small group rw dive or two... and i'm sure you can find others to jump with as well:) Also, the student/low timers landing area ( -
What a waste of space and time... why would anyone post whore? ! sheesh, people these days Angela.

Dunno, I mean, on one hand, she's here saying don't buy her anything. But, on the other hand, when your friends and family are all getting gifts, flowers, cards, chocolates, it sucks to feel left out. While I do think that it's a ridiculous holiday that is meant to eat away at the consumers xtra cash.... it is always nice to get something so that when your girlfriends ask you what you got for valentine's day.. you can say "My wonderful boyfriend/husband brought me this, or took me here ... " . :) I say get her a card, or take her to dinner. Let her know you care. This way, you're not really ignoring her request that you don't get anything for her... yet still you are letting her know how special she is to you:) Angela.

If I were you, and i'm not, i'd rather the camera. At this point in my skydiving career, i'm not ready for a camera... but when I am, i'd rather have a cam then the same $$ in coach jumps. Besides, like another poster mentioned, getting a camera & equip requires a chunk of change... getting coach jumps is $$, but it is $$ you can spread out if need be. (3 jumps here, a couple more there). My vote is camera. Angela.

I hope not Angela.

Glad you got your jumps in, sweety:) I won't be back to Sebastian, but i'm sure i'll see you elsewhere, maybe in Titusville at the end of Feb:) Angela.

How was the weather for you guys on Sunday? We came out on Saturday, but got there in the afternoon and the only jumping to be done was h&ps in the freezing rain. No thanks! Decided not to stay the night, because the forecast wasn't looking good for Sunday and it was just too damn cold for my wimpy ass! It was nice meeting Mel*, I didn't get to meet everyone, but there will be other boogies:) At least I got jumps down here on Sunday:) I felt bad that that the boogie was rained out after the pm girls and others came from so far:( It was just gorgeous the weekend b4. Angela.

haha! I wish I could dock.. soon, maybe! I think that crw would be fun, too! You guys do that often? I know microline is supposed to be bad for crw, right? (can easily cut your foot or something? ) Looks like fun, tho! Angela.

I just wanna add that I am told a cypres will not save you after a main deployment. That is what Brian Germain said. I'm not sure if it really won't save you, or if it just should not be expected to, but either way... i'd not be counting on it after pulling my main. Matter of fact, i'd be hesitant to think about it at all. It pulls your reserve very low. You could still get into trouble if your cypres fires your reserve. Try to forget that it is there. Also, I understand about losing so much altitude. But, now you know, and so, 2 trys then emergency procedures. Also, you should constantly check your altitude. Pull... nothing, check altitude, try again... pull nothing... check altitude... execute emergency procedures accordingly. I got into my own situation a while back. Instead of not knowing my altitude, I reasoned that I had enough. I got out of line twists at 900 feet. Need I say more? Keep altitude aware. Know your emergency procedures. Before jumping, know the altitude at which you will execute them regardless of situation (hard deck). Stick to the plan. Angela.

Ooooh no you don't. lol! I am absolutely NOT saying that you should be at a 1.6 w/l. I did say that you may well be ahead of the learning curve, but that does not translate into you're ok at 1.6 w/l. I have never flown a 1.6 w/l, and I dare not presume what that is like, or when one is ready for such a thing. All I was saying is that it sounds like you're not listening, so this is going nowhere because there is nothing you can possibly say to make these people believe that you're ready to handle that canopy so highly loaded with your experience. Please don't take this post as an insult in any way. I am just trying to clarify what I said before, because it seems to have been taken out of context. Please do be careful, no one wants to see you get hurt

You're really not helping the situation by replying like that, either. No one is going to accept that you are some top canopy pilot at 80 jumps, so you're wasting your breath by attempting to convince them. You may be well on top of those with the same jump #s, but that is still a dangerous w/l for a good pilot, so you have to understand why they are trying to talk you into upsizing. I am not going to say what you should do one way or the other... I know that I would not be comfortable jumping that w/l with my experience level personally, but I am not you. I am just letting you know that this conversation is going nowhere unless it is convincing you to upsize, because you're certainly not going to convince these guys that at 80 jumps you should be at 1.6w/l. Take care and best of luck to you. I've heard awesome things about the Samurai. angela

I have never flown my reserve, but I don't think you're wrong to be nervous. Don't worry about what people will think if you chop. I can't say that I don't... I know i'd hear shit, but you can't worry about that when your life is at stake! If you're nervous about not having enough time, or not using your time as wisely as you think you should... maybe pulling a bit high until you feel more comfortable would help. Take care, and try not to worry so much. You did the right thing the first time... chances are you'll do the right thing the second time, too:) Edit to add: Also, practice your emergency procedures before every jump and on the plane. I always practice my emergency procedures on the plane. I think it will help if I get into a situation. Angela.

A couple of experienced jumpers at out dz have hurt themselves jumping barefoot. Just thought i'd throw that out there. I did a few jumps barefoot, but decided after seeing people get hurt that i'd rather not have to worry about that. It's all about your comfort level of course. . . It does feel good to jump w/o shoes:) Angela.
