  1. i know, that's why i put some smiles in my messages. but even sabre-2s have sometimes spanking problem. as we can see by this post. i don't anything special packing. never had hard opening in 669 jumps. i jumped pd 9 cell, sabre (original :)), safire2, crossfire2. maybe i'm less sensitive about openings, i like fast openings actually. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 2. because it's a sabre ? i guess some people like being spanked since they keep going for sabres j/k, sabre is a good canopy .. but i love my crossfire more -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... Speed Skydiving Forum
  3. it's realistic. i got low 80-ies tracking in tight nylon suit. there is always a question about pro-track/neptune placement and how speed readings are effected by changing body position. stan -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... I'm furious

i think now everybody should be paranoid. because something happened to somebody don't consider this as a personal attack, but we got 2 pages of ambiguity, nobody knows what's going on and what you warn us about. to be careful about your identity ? it's common sence, everybody should ! but without any details, this warning is useless. some things are not as big of a deal as some people might think. would we skydive if were that concern about everything ? not every little thing in life deserves a drama. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 8. i would expect that canopy fabric will give up first on high speed deployment. and maybe couple of lines. Craig Poxon (cpoxon) has a slide show about speed skydiving and one of the slides is the pcitures of the rig after premature deployment during speed skydiving. it didin't look very good. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 11. you forgot option "i don't give a damn". watching sports for me is boring. the most appealing part of watching sports is drinking beer, but i can drink beer without watching tv :) for me there are always two sides - sport and athlets and watching and fans. what side do you really want to be on ? stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... Circumcision

we should have baby's fingers chopped as well. this way there will be no potential to have dirt under the nails which can cause potential health problems :) circumcision has religious roots and it's very strong in this country. trying to argue about this topic with people who are for it is like arguing about religion with religious fanatics - it's useless. no matter what you say that would keep saying the same old things and they will never listen. it's hard to come out of your believes, when you were brought that way, because you don't know different and can't open your mind to accept that there are might be other ways different from what you believed all you life. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 13. i am. if you think about quiting maybe you don't want to jump as much and you might want us to beleive. don't look for a reason to quit or excuses, find the way to make as many jumps as you want. suck it up. work hard, be the best. stop whining. so many people share "their drama" and get 100 times more posts then they have jumps. if they redirect their post power into jumping maybe they won't have reason to make posts like that. for the record, i live in North East. and weather here sucks big time sometime. but i doesn't stop me from jumping. i jumped when it rained, i jumped when it snowed, i jumped when it was -25. stan. p.s. sorry for a little harsh post. p.p.s. i'm glad to see number of jumps in the profiles instead of number of posts. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 14. hell yes, i take care of my rigger !! i have almost blind faith in my rigger and i couldn't wish for better one. i had one cutaway and i bought a huge bottle of his favorite vodka for him :) stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 15. what are the feauters ? i'm very interested to know. my rig doesn't have anything special for speed, except that i put a velcro on my pilot chute freefly handle and on the bottom of the container. to keep it as secure as possible. i saw pictures of the rig prematurely opened at 250+. not pretty. aside from that my rig is pretty standard. i have javelin j1k. i keep everything small, short and tight. sometimes i have my riser covers open and they try to beat me to death. but the worse is to jump without a shirt under the jumpsuit. fabric on my hands (triceps area) is a bit loose and it's enough to leave me with black bruises and i don't bruise easily :) and it also gets really hot because of all the friction :) stan p.s. oh yeah, i also have D-ring for my cutaway handle :) better grip and i'm not really concerned with mid air collisions :) -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 16. at what altitude do you go flat ? the speed zone ends around 5500 ft so there is no need to go fast after that. i have my dytters set at 5000ft and i go flat as soon as i hear it. it takes me about 10-12 (i think) seconds to slow down and i'm in full track at that time. at the end i pitch up a tad to bleed of horizontal speed if any and throw my pilot chute. usually i'm below 110-120 mph at deployment, but sometimes it's 130-140, but it's an excpetion. i had some openings above 150 before though :) try not to blow up your main every time. it does sound expensive :) stan -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 17. ...and altitude Paul, mustn't forget altitude... Temperature only: Sound Speed in Gases. preassure is function of the altitude, so he is correct. Amazon, if your deployment speed is that low (50-ish) and the speed graph is smooth, then most likely your pro-track is not where it should be. i guess it's in your helmet. smooth curves indicate that pro-track was going from low preassure shadow to high preassure and had "to catch up" on speed reading. This is a good example of the pro-track in the helmet. and this is fake reading. This one is how it should look like and this is a reading from the harness mounted pro-track. (this is not the same dive). when i was competing, i had to place my own pro-track in my helmet. from two harness pro-tracks i would get reading like 260-ish and the one from pro-track would be 310+. in extreme cases helmet pro-track can show negative speeds on the deployment (going up) and negatvie deployment altitude. when pro-tracks were placed on the ankles before, some speeders got reading as high as 600 mph dude to excessive kicking :) stan. Edited: But to get 310 mph in your helmet you have to go pretty damn fast ! :) so i guees you'll show some good competition in august in jumptown. see you there :) and if anyone is interested, there will be speed skydiving world cup meet in jumptown august this year. i'll post more when time comes ... -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 18. i found that if i deploy at higher speed, my canopy opens slower. it snivels more and slider stays up longer. sometimes i open at speeds as high as 150 mph, and i never had hard opening. i used to jump icarus safire2 and now i jump crossfire2 and icarus canopies are known for slow openings, that might be a factor as well. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 21. i jump without one. and i also jump without visual altimeter. but with three audible altimeters :) i do speed dives and i can't have anything loose or asymmetrical. i used to have a very light spin while i was doing speed divers some time ago. i discovered that altimeter on my left hand was causing it. since i can't really look at it anyway during freefall i opted to jump without one. the same reason i jump without a hook knife. maybe it wouldn't be a big deal, but who knows it could be a 1 mph that would make all the difference on competition :) stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 22. Most line overs are brake lines. It's not that hard to find them, they have those bright yellow handles on the end. i know that :) sorry if i worded it wrong way. it's hard to get a hold on offensive line, even if you know it's a brake line. they all close together, maybe twisted, you're spinning, your protrack is screaming, you're trying to get a hold of it and cut it, bad move and here goes your riser. i'm not trying to say that having a hook knife is a bad idea. just wanted to point that getting rid of the line over using a hook knife is not as easy as one can think. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... Speed Skydiving Forum
  23. i don't think it's as simple with reserve line over. if you have a line over, chances are you'll be spinning. under stress choosing right lline and cutting it is not easy. and under tension, hook nife will easily go thru all the lines instead of one. so it's easier to make situation worse. this scenario was discussed many times here and i think there is no definite answer. but i guess it doesn't hurt to have a hook knife for other situations. stan -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 25. i use z1 for speed skydiving and i have transitions from the full dive (up to 300 mph) to flat and never had any problem with my visor. i bumped the open visor once against door frame of the plane when i was getting into the plane. after that it would become loose where it's connected to the hard sheell, but even thought i never had opened in freefall. recenlty i replaced the orignall plastic screews with regular metal bolts but i didn't have a chance to jump it yet. stan -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ...
