  1. i used to jump safire2-149 loaded at about 1.4. i'm 6'2" and have pretty long arms but it was not enough to stall the canopy. icarus canopies have very long input range in general. i can't stall my crossfire2-139 either. the purpose of stalling your canopy is to know when it happens and how it feels like, so you could recognize it and prevent it from hapenning at the wrong moment. since it doesn't really happen on your canopy, then why bother ? i might be wrong, but i don't see other reasons to stall your canopy. well maybe for fun :) stan -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 7. i currently use netscape 7.1. there are very few sites that will not be correctly displayed in netscape, but it's pretty rare. i find IE very annoying. but it's my preference. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... Speed Skydiving Forum
  8. netscape and mozilla totally block all the popups. you can also restrict scripts from doing funky stuff like opening new widnows, resizing windows, etc. and they also have tabbed browsing without which can't surf web anymore :) -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 9. Javelins don't come with a sewn stopper because, IIRC, of the webbing thickness in relation to the buckle. that's true, but it's a different story when the end of the strap it at the buckle. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 10. that actually might bite you in ass :) on one jump i pulled, got canopy over my head, collapsed my slider, open my visor, loosened chest strap and then pulled my brakes. in a second i discovered that the loop on the brake line got all the way down the gromet on one toggle and it tightened itself down there pretty good. that put my crossfire in the nice spiral, which i compensated with another brake. well, it's hard to deal with the knots when it's freezing in the air (it was witner in MA) and having double gloves, so after spending some time i cut away. i let go my left hand of the reserve since i had troubles with cutaway and then after i cut away i found my reserve almost on my back because my chest strap was very loose and my harness shifted around. ironically i have javelin odyssey and it originally came without a stopper (fold) on the chest strap and i fixed it myself couple of weeks before my cutaway. since i spent some time looking for my reserve i went pretty much to terminal again when i pull the silver. without that little stopper that i fixed myself i could've possibly fallen out of the harness which would be pretty bad, so now i pull, collapse my slider, open my visor, unstow my brakes, pull them down and compress my harness together to ease some preassure from the chest strap and only then lossen my chest strap. but i agree with you that there is no need to unstown the brakes before canopy starts flying. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 13. well, it is simple. not very easy, but simple. i was super skinny before with very high metabolism. i'm 6'2" and i was under 150. it took me about a year to get over 180. weight lifting + weight gainers and protein does all the trick. the problem is it's hard to keep it up. i was 185 lbs and then i injured my ankle. i could not go to the gym for a month and i lost 12-14 lbs right away. two month later i'm almost back to normal. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 16. i got dolphin as my first rig. it was complete rig with PD-190, Tempo-170 and Cypress. $1700 for the whole thing. Jumped it for a year, was very happy with it and then sold it. 17. i got custom cutaway handle which is standard D-ring with two yellow cutaway cables and it costed me $45. directly from SunPath. and it took a week to get. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... Speed Skydiving Forum
  18. many people have d-ring for their reserves and are not that concerned about it getting caught on something. accidentally pulled cutaway is not as bad as reserve. so why do we have some many d-ring reserve handles ? in other words if i don't mind d-ring for my reserve, why should i mind it for my cutaway ? i opeted for better grip and quicker punch. on my mal i had i spent too much time trying to pull cutaway without peeling while spinning. now my emergency procedures are extremely simple. pillow for cutaway was intended to provide different feel and make come in handy if someone have few jumps. at this point i'm pretty sure i will try to pull right first, so there is no strong need for different feel. and also, majoriy of my jumps are speed skydiving jumps, so there is nobody around me in the air for 98% :) stan -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 22. I'm sure some others share your view, but this has nothing to do with "software" patches (which there havent been any for some time, although there have been some feature releases). I've seen a screen crack because of a riser slap. I know plenty of people who've had screens on their protracks crack after dropping them. It's an LCD screen, they are easy to break if they get enough of an impact regardless of who manufactures the unit. Blues, Ian i'm not referring to cracks or any other physical damage (by the way, many pro-tracks survived free fall drops). i'm talking about " the temperature was showing -189 degrees " kind of stuff. it just seems to be too raw to be released to general public. otherwise why would you have some many updates in such a short time ? to introduce new features ? or more likely to fix bugs ? and i'm not starting neptune vs pro-track topic, i have my preference and reasons to stick to them. i rather speak in general about neptune. just seems to be too glitchy :) and i know you're happy with yours :) -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 23. i never jumped a neptune, but from all the feedback i read at the dz.com, am i the only one who thinks they released it too fast ? patches for windows come in at slower pace ! stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ...
