hey, i have some nice bridge jumping pics :) too bad that the beam is not horizontal and it's hard to make a clean launch, otherwise i'd go for head first :) the bridge is 154 ft tall and one can static line from it ;) stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... looks like my ankle :) it's not that swollen any more, but at some point it was all black from my toes to my knee :) nothing torn, just a crack in one of the foot bones and major brusing. i'm still limping and it was 2 weeks now. i say, stay on the ground for now ... stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... heavy weight gainer + weight lifting will do the job. heavy weight gainer is a protein/calories shake. come in variety of calories loads. chose one that you can tolerate in a long run taste-wise. i prefer champion nutrition: http://www.bodybuild.com/ans/cn_heavy_wgt.htm it doesn't have the max of calories you can find in others, but it tastes good. i tried another one and i could not drink it at all stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... it's been beleived so for some time and then the best location was changed to the lateral webbing. the inaccuracy of speed reading will affect only momentary speed, but it will not affect warning altitudes much. as long as you dont do speed skydiving, all the differences will be negligible, and it shouldn't matter much where your pro-track is placed. for speed skydiving pro-tracks were places on the ankles before , but people figured that extensive kicking will change speed reading and improve results. some results were as high as 600+ mph. after that location was changed to lateral couple of years ago, everything went back to normal. the difference in speed between helmet and lateral location readings for jumps over 250 mph might be as high as 50 mph. stan -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... I was doing that too until it started killing my lower back from hopping around so much. Be careful and don't forget to ice it a lot. Here's another hint...to get around the kitchen and cook, I put a rolling desk chair in there and I would kneel on it with my bad leg and roll around. It worked pretty good! hey, that's waht i do !! i have an office chair and i rae around. too bad i have to levels in my studio so i have to hop on my right foot to go down. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... i actually have to, but i didn't want to, so i'm kinda hoping on another leg. the way doc in ER sounded it looks like the could put me in a cast :( -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... Speed Skydiving Forum

it's all nice and black now :) i did't get to the orthopedist yet, but going today. suprisingly it doesn't hurt at all unless i'm trying to "walk". but it looks pretty scary. we'll see what doc says. it blows ... stan. thanks for the good wishes everyone. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... hey. just wanna share what a jackass i was today. not really a jackass, but i could've avoided it. jump N 679. 5 grand, some proximity canopy flying with my friend, set up for 90 hook, hooked up high, overshot landing zone a tad (turned out i was going slightly downwind and we land predefined direction), stepped down too hard and too fast on some hard surface. ankle swelled twice it's size in seconds. after 30 mins in the ice, went to ER. they took a lot of x-rays and it turned i didn't break anything (i guess drinking milk and going to gym paid off), but soft tissues took all the force. going to orthopedist tomorrow to check if i tore any ligaments. ER Doc said it was most likely. suck big time ... no jumping for a month i guess. fly your wing people, all the way to the ground ! Stan. canopy - icarus crossfire2, 139. wing load - 1.45-1.5. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... Speed Skydiving Forum

i have nothing on my computer :) in old MS-DOS era it was hard to survive without anti-virus, now it's it's not that hard. majority of viruses are run by user him/herself, opening attachments. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... i beleive icarus has 30 days guarantee - you can buy a canopy, jump it for a month and return it. i had about 250-ish (?) jumps on safire2 and i was very happy about that canopy. from my experience it will have a bit higher forward speed then the same size sabre2, but i could be subjective. if you can, try both and see which one you like more. my vote would go to safire. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... i wouldn't say that safire 2 has a weak flare. i'd rather say it has a very good flare, but the thing is that all icarus canopies has longer input range then PD canopies and many people used to PD flare consider Icarus flare "weak" or weird. i personally preffer longer input range that give me more precise control. i flew original sabre and then switched to safire 2 and can't say anything bug good about it. very solid canopy. now i'm flying cf2 and can't be happier with it. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... Just use the Mozilla browser. You can just turn popups off. No added stupid software needed. Mozilla is free second that. i use netscape 7.1. no pop-ups. and tabbed browsing - can't browse without it now. stan -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... i managed to get some hydrofluoric acid in my eye many years ago. but it was really dilluted otherwise i woulnd't have an eye now. hydrofluoric acid is the one that eats pretty much everything, including glass and you wanna stay as far from it as possible :) i rinsed my eye like crazy and managed to keep my vision intact. hope you're ok. stan -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... yes, it does :) it matter for skydiviver since they get to altitude faster. and it matters for DZ since because they want to have faster turn around time. and for an-28 is pretty much the same as for otter. i know i would :) i'm going back home for the whole september but i don't feel like brining my rig across half of the globe :) stan -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... i jumped an-28 while i was in sweden for competion. very nice plane, noisy like hell, but climbs very fast. it was design for short take offs and landings, has a lot of wing. due to the same reason that it can climb fast, it can not dive fast :) so turn around time is pretty much the same as otter. but it's fun to jump. funny, i'm russian myself, but i never jumped in russia :) stan -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... Skytronic FX in different Body Positions....
Staso replied to packerboy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
i can tell about pro-track but i'm pretty sure they all work similiar. the higher speed you have in freefall and the more radical transition you make the more speed reading will be affected. average speed will be more or less accurate since if it goes in transition from one preassure area to another, it most likely will get a spike of false higher speed and the opposite spike of false lower speed as well and they will cancel each other. the max speed could be affected more since it might register it on high speed spike. stan -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... read my post about my smiles. and i had about 150-180 jumps on sabres, so i kinda do know what i'm talking about. for the record - never had a hard opening on first sabre. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... Speed Skydiving Forum
