  1. safire-2 is the softest :) i requested smaller slider because it used to open too slow and too soft for me. as for elipticals, i'd go with crossfire2. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... Speed Skydiving Forum

  3. you're right about the reason why the handles have different shape. especially it's important for someone with low number of jumps, who can get confused and pull the wrong handle. i personally go for better grip, i'm pretty sure i'm gonna pull the right handles since i've already done it. i prefer "one hand on a hanlde" procedure and having two d-rings ensure that i'm not gonna slip on cutaway and pull reserver sonner then i should. i had a hard cutaway once and let go left hand to hel to pull cutaway. since my chest strap was loosened at that moment, whne i came back for reserve handle it was almost on my back. if i had my current system installed at that time, i wouildn't have that problem. now i don't care. when time comes - one hand on one handle, another on another one, pull right, pull left. no peeling, no thinking :) and since i'm mostly do only speed dives for my competition training, which are always solos, mid air collision and accidental pulls are not really my concerned. so this system works for me perfect and that's why i chose it. stan -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 7. where did you have your pro-track for 320 mph dive ? did you have 2 ? it's very easy to get false reading from one Pro-Track. you can check your graph using JumpTrack if you have it and see if the curve is very smooth around the peak. if it is, most likely it's a fluke. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 8. i beleive none. let go brakes slowly if you over-flare, keep your wing leveled and over your head. i don't beleive that there is any preferable way out of two wrong ones. falling on you back is dangerous, insticts will tell you to put your arms behind you and that might make things much worse. i know that becasue i fell down flat on my back from 20+ feet on hard ground. i put my right arm behind me and i literaly crashed it. i was lucky to get to the good doc who fixed me up pretty nice. it wasn't skydiving related, though. so i can see some advantages falling forward, but again, best way is to avoid it. it's the case when you have to choose either falling backwards or forawrd. in this case you have an option not to fall. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 9. when canopy is stalled it will pull jumper backwards exposing him/her to possible back injuries. one of the jumpers on my dz stalled her canopy probably 15 feet up high and fell backwards on her back. she cracked a vertebrate. so i don't think stalling is a very good option. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 10. i jumped in sweden once and i got into pretty heavy rain. i sucked it down lower then usual trying to minimize canopy time but it didn't really help - in few seconds under the canopy i was soaked completely. i had to pour water out of canopy's cells on the ground, otherwise it was fine. canopy flew as usuall, i didn't really noticed any difference. since it was competition, i had to pack and jump again (rain was gone in 5 minutes after i landed !) and my rig was super heavy. which i think helped me to get my best result on that jump, since weight is good for speed skydiving :) stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 13. some PCs have IR ports, but the question is would they understand the protocol. you need software that would work with that device using IR port or RS-232 port. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... Speed Skydiving Forum
  14. that speed is not mentioned in the manula. they say that deployment altitude is when your decent is slowed down considerably, that's as far as they go in explanation. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... Speed Skydiving Forum
  15. there are ways to get it for less then $500. i got my for "free" (see pic attached) :) is price quote for a logo really 2 grand ?? that's a lot of money. but i was really surprised how nicely logo was done. my canopy is yellow with black logo and even small tabs on the bottom skin of the canopy are black where they happen to be on the logo. and it looks very nice in the air. didn't see it from the ground yet though. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 19. i noticed that slider groumets on my crossfire are smaller then the ones on safire i used to own. before i would collapse the slider and pull it thru toggles with one motion, now i have to collapse it and then slowly thread it over toggles, i otherwise it fires on of th toggles and i end up with one toggle above the slider and one below. sucks .. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... fastest stand?

inaccuracy of PT in helmet will increase greatly with speed. if you see very smooth curve in jumptrack software, it means that results are fake. some people get negative speed sometimes or even negative deployment altitude. but we're talking about speed approaching 300 mph in first place. even in track, going about 100 mph, if you turn your head you can get spikes up to 200 mph. so far best place is considered laterals. and one should have 2 PTs on both sides and speed should be averaged and if difference is too high, it's fake again. the easiest way to put PT on lateral is to use zip ties and secure PR cradle on the webbing. it doesn't hurt to put elastic around cradle before you attach it and secure PT with that elastic. after all you don't want to lose $300 worth piece of equipment :) if you need more info on how to secure PT on lateral, let me know. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... Marianne Cotrin is one of the speed skydivers who competes in a stand. As far as I know, she is the only one who does that. Currently she holds the Brazilian record at 368 km/h which is about 230 mph. note, that it's average over 1 km, the max could be around 240-250 mph. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ...
