That just isn't true. The problem with heroin and all opioids is that the body develops a dependence on it. You have to detox to stop taking it. Many drugs develop no physical dependance only mental dependances. To say that doing any drug that your body develops a physical dependence on has no adverse effects is just insane. Also, the needles that go along with doing heroin can end up giving you a whole lot of problems if you end up with an injection site infection. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. I know someone as far back as last October not getting his lense at all. I feel bad cause I made the recomendation to use Royal. I have one and it is a nice lense. I know none of my money will ever go that direction again. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Good attitude to have. Fuck the guys who have died, been maimed, or permenantly disabled and caused that "recommendation" to be put on the books in the first place. Thier lives were meaningless. Everyone these days is better than them guys so thier deaths are not relevant. The great thing about skydiving is when you think you know so much and are so much better than everyone else that you forget that 99% of the rules we have are because a bunch of people already died finding out that isn't the way to do something. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. I thought the workmanship of this movie was great. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to be feeling towards the end, but I was feeling a lot of something. My comment to the friends who saw it with me was "That is a lot to wrap your head around." The soundtrack selection and audio work was awesome, seeing this movie outside of a theatre wouldn't really do it justice. The ending was abrupt, but I think they could have gone on forever. It was a good way to have a "clean" break. Go see it if you can handle a good look at the fraility of humanity. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Not at my DZ you wont and I do have the power to keep you on the ground, so don't ever bother coming to where I jump. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Swooping is taking one last poke at the bear before escaping it's cave - davelepka

It would be a hell of a bold move to say they support the porn industry, but they could come out and say that they are not restricting the content that is put on the discs. I mean, they would have to word it right, but somehow they could. It would be a smart move on thier part. I just don't understand the stupidity of HD-DVD because from everything that I have read, its not half of what BD can be. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. I want to. The cost of burners and discs is a limiting factor. I don't want to get too much into recording in a format that I can only play with the camera. Last time I took a jump like that too early I ended up with a camcorder that was very hard to get video into a computer with. So I'm holding out to know more about where the bigger industry wants to go. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Soft links do they have a jump # limitation
Fast replied to airborne82nd's topic in Gear and Rigging
I never heard of that. Where did you hear about such rule for risers? is there some kind of a statement from any of the manufacturers? I have been using my risers for well over 1500 jumps... Meh, I am in the same boat. My risers and slinks both have like 1500 jumps on them. Neither are showing much wear. Maybe its a function of jumping in a place that doesn't have a constant problem with sand and/or dirt. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. If you think that wont bother your IT department you are wrong or your IT department sucks. A high amount of encrypted traffic going out from one of my client machines would be a big problem to me. None of my users have any legitamate use for SSH. It may be "Legal" but it is most certainly against the AUP. If it isn't, it will be when they find out about it, and you are STILL risking your job. Also, using any of the "anonymous" proxy sites to get around your web content filtering system is going to get you in trouble eventually. I don't know why people seem to think that it is ever ok to break policies. I am not saying I haven't or don't. I just don't bother trying to hide it. Either my boss will or will not tolerate what I do with my time at work. For what it is worth, properly configured group policy for a domain will restrict 99% of users from any access to the network configuration pages and proxy settings in IE and if you are using the Frontmotion MSI for firefox autodeployment you can use group policy now to configure that as well. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. I guess there is a guy in my area that spent about 2 years practicing and around $7k to get to what they call "national" level in 3D flying. Alan Sazbo Jr. is like, an airspeed member or better in terms of skill level, just to use as a comparison. I have an electric that I am learning to fly, but I really want a nitro heli. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Yeah, I know what you mean but I doubt it is worth the trouble. Find a cute pilot with his own cessna, promiss him some "fun" and *presto* a free bandit jump!

Yep, learn to pack for cash! haha That said, I moved out of my rent free room in my parent's house because I wanted to continue to skydive and was told that I wouldn't be allowed to do so while living at home. I don't regret that decision at all, not one bit. I could never have afforded to get where I am today as fast as I did w/o living at home for free. My mom didn't wise up to the idea of kicking me out till I was able to join the DZ staff, which is how I pay for my jumps now. In the long run, skydiving as taught me a whole lot about life - and death. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. I recently bought a blade cp pro.... Having read quite a bit about the stuff on the net I know I should have just pony'd up and bought a bigger helicopter like a T-rex or a nitro cause they are much easier to fly. Regardless of that, I have owned the thing about a week, have replaced 2 parts, added a heading hold gyro, and need to replace the tail boom. I also put plastic blades on it so im not burning through the wood ones so fast. On the positive side, I am getting better at hovering. I can keep it in a 10ft box and can almost do full battery hovers. Its getting a bit fucked up but im just going to buy one of these in the spring anyways. (Clicky) or something similar provided I am learning at a good pace with the electric. I have been flying every day 2-4 batteries worth. I have been told if you can fly the Blade CP you can fly just about anything. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Meh, it doesn't last long though. A person can only sink so much money into something before they have to balance it out. We operate the same way in East Troy, at a no profit level - except we fly a turbine. You better belive people will get bumped for students in an emergency though. It's just something that you have to deal with when it happens, which isn't often. Our manifest just holds slots for them in the first place cause we know when we are going to have students. It is rare that something gets sprung on us. The thing is that a business that doesn't run at break even wont last. No matter how much a person wants it to, someone has to bail it out. Most of the time that doesn't hold out forever - maybe it seems that way to many jumpers because they burn out of the sport too fast. I don't think the atmospher of a dz has to revolve around if it is a club or a large for profit operation. If people want to have a good vibe they just need to make it happen and then DZO/staff whoever need to create distinctions and operation procedures that are win-win. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me.
