OK, here is a very very very dull - Dim Aurora.. First understand I am 40 miles from NYC, so obviously there is a boatload of light pollution. Anyway, you can see the green streak across the middle of the image. In the bottom right corner is a Plane flying into JFK. In Image Aurora18.. I was lucky enough to catch a meteor flying in from the left side dead center. Same plane on the bottom right. You have to look damn close for the meteor. I actually have the info on the shorts skyvan..... First built: 1963 Capasity 19 Cruising speed 200mph Range 690mi Length 40.0ft Wingspan 64.9 ft Although adapted to commuter transport the skyvan's origional incarnation was a light freighter. A rigged aircraft with good performance from short runways, and total of 150 had been built when production ceased in 1987. So, there were 150 built between 1963-1987. source: Guide to Airport Airplanes 2nd edition by William and Frank Berk ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty

I hadn't jumped one until last september... I think I have only 7 or 8 jumps out of them now... There is nothing like it!!!!!! Jump run speed is Faster than what i am used to. Usually in the Twin Otters i am used to JR speed is about 80-90knts. In the Skyvan I think it was closer to 110-120knots. That is just a guess though. Skyvan holds about 20 passengers. I can't compare to a CASA since I have never been in one. All I know is there is nothing like diving out of the tailgate into a void for about 1 sec until you fall into the airflow under the plane. If your legs aren't tucked to your ass... you'll get flipped around... Chris ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty

Well, I am conservative, but if gays are truly an oppressed people that apparently have to have their own place to live because of fear, then yes I agree I would argue for gay rights. I don't really like the idea of homosexuality, but that really doesn't matter here. There are a lot of things I don't agree with. However, if people are infact gay by no choice of there own, then yes I believe as a group they should be equally represented and protected under the law. That is only fair. And, taking that a step further, they should not be given preferencial treatment. Well, I don't know that we have the time for it, and maybe I am wrong. Maybe you were just playing devils advocate in those threads who knows... But i remember what came across in what you said. Heck you pissed me off on a couple of occasions, but that is what discussion is for... helps you to see both sides. Chris ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
-
Well, I have in that past and the tread get hijacked into Democrats vs. Republicans.... Bush vs. Clinton. I am so sick of those threads. But hey, I didn't ask you post here. If you don't like the thread that is fine. It doesn't need your stamp of approval. My point wasn't to bring light to all the worlds problems, my point was bring something which was in the news to the table to have a discussion... What's the problem??? Does this one hit too close to home for you or what? ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty

I mean, you are trying to change my mind about my experience. DIsagreeing for the sake of disagreeing. It is like me saying I like apples but orages suck, and you are trying to tell me that you like oranges, and joe likes oranges, and mike likes apples and oranges.... So whats the point? I still haven't experienced enough good oranges to go buy a bag. Chris ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
-
OK, so that is your experience.... I am stereotyping here because of the experiences I have had. That is the way I feel. Maybe in 10yrs that will change when I have more experience, but in the bubble I live in, that is what i have seen. Narc, Through other threads I have argued with you in... ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty

Luckily I don't live in Cali, because if I did, I certainly would want to be paying for this home. See, this is the issue, it is not like they just allocated some money from no where and are building it. They are using taxpayers money, and this home does not provide much exept for a few old gay people. I would pose the same arguement if it was a Black Retirement home. That is not right, and, IMO the state does not have the right to build discrimitory housing on my buck!!! So, your right people aren't lining looking for the straight retirement home, But I haven't heard of any discrimintory crime toward the gay elderly by the straight elderly...Have you? Is this such a problem? So instead of intermingling with the rest of the elderly population, we can pu them in one spot. That way when the straight elderly people want to mock them, they know where to go to do it!!!! That is a brilliant idea... shit I wish I saw it that way in the begininng would have saved me all this time. I agree to disagree. Through my experience I have found Liberal people to be more emotional involved in their ideology than conservative people. Is that a broad brush ... YES, but that is what I have found to be true in my life. Liberals are typically more sympathetic, and that is why their ideology revolves around helping out the less fortunate for the greater good. Conservatives not nearly as much. Just my experience. Chris ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty

Well Andy thanks for your support. Maybe I shouldn't have gotten engaged to my Fiancee', maybe I should go talk to a shrink and find out what these thought and feeling really mean. That is a sad tactic that everyone like to use. I am glad you said that. If in public you speak out about problems in black communities and say anything negative, you are labled a Racist. Even if what you say is true. If you speak out again gays well then logically I must be secretly gay.... Yup that's it. Dude, I am sorry but I am loosing respect for you here. So, what is my problem? My problem is State sponsored discrimination. Because you know what... it never works. Someone always looses, and it costs all of us time and money. Everyone thinks discrimination against minority groups (gay, black etc...) is bad, but you know what... reverse discrimination is just as bad. You don't right a wrong with another wrong. If you can't understand that, then I am sorry. ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty

Like I said in a different thread... That same education you spent $100K on, you could have gotten for $1.50 in late fees at your local library. Chris ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty

Well, the reason why is because deep down inside I don't want to like him. He and I differ so greatly in ideology I find it difficult to comprehend his beliefs as I am sure he finds it difficult to comprehend mine. So, i wish i didn't agree with him or respect him. But I have to. He is a very rational person. This goes against all of my know sterotypes of Liberal thinkers. Liberals tend to be more emotioal based people. Somewhere deep inside of me I view him as the enemy. That may not be nice or a good thing to say, but that is how I feel. So, it is difficult for me to say I respect him. But, in this case atleast, he recognized that even though his ideology is one way, the arguement which the court ruled on was somewhat bogus. It takes a big man to agree with something which you have strong convictions against. I know I would have a tough time doing it. Hope that clears it up. That is just the way I feel right or wrong. OK, so where in the CONSTITUTION does it give the judges the power to scrutinize in this fasion??? This seems unconstitutuioal to me. I am going to call the ACLU and see if they would take my case. HA HA HA... that would never happen. However, can the state open a STRAIGHT ONLY retirement home under the same scrutiny??? ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty

I have to say Narc... I am slowing gaining more respect of you. Damn, I wish it weeren't so. Having read your posts and the court brief, I find it difficult not to agree with Thomas. What he says is exactly correct. He expresses his opinion about the silliness of the law but clearly states his job is just to copare the constitutioality of said law and apply it. I am not quite sure how this wasn't unanimous...I think it is pretty clear cut. There is nothing unconstitional about this, and as the title of the post reads... IT IS CORRECT. In escence the other judges ignored their responsibility as judges and instead ruled on the morality of the law, not the law itself. I can see some truth in that!!!! Dem's use minorities Repub's use corporations.. That is why I try not to listen to what they say most of the time because both sides spin so freakin much. It is tough though... Chris ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
