    Sure, you cited one case of a nutter with a gun. Wrong again. Lots more than one. No evidence of psych eval consistent with GCA 68 barring, search not limited to yesterday ("99+% of gun owners didn't shoot anyone YESTERDAY) and no exclusion of multiple reports of the same incident in the search. So, yes...you're wrong again. 99+% yes, but he had a bit too many 9's in there, which would imply that less than two gun owners in the US shot someone yesterday. Pretty sure that is off by a factor of 150 or so.

    I know that U.S. voter turnout is always low, and especially in a caucus like these, but I'm amazed at a voter turn out in the very low single digits.

    Yep, like it was rooting for my high school football team. They are yours, and you'd like them to show some competence and ability and smarts, but it gets discouraging.

    I've never had that situation regarding health coverage being taxed, since I never covered a domestic partner. I haven't looked at other peoples taxes burden w.r.t. marriage, but last time I did, the taxes were higher for married, even with pretty low income of one spouse vs. the other (these are engineers living in the bay area, so the lower one isn't exactly low, though).

    The U.S. market response today was partly a result of the European market earlier today, which was up more that ours.

    And if you both have income, the IRS is excited that your tax bill will be going up. Since I recently got married, the tax return process gets more complicated (as well as more expensive). First it is calculated as married filing separate, so that we can figure out who would really owes what (I'm generally quite underpaid on estimated taxes, she's overpaid), then we file joint to save a couple of thousand vs. separate, and divvy up that difference. Single was about $6-8k less federal income tax. Paying more taxes just because we got married is my most despised feature of the tax code.

    I don't have a problem with that, taken in context. I think that it is a somewhat inept statement, but ineptitude isn't limited to him, or to politicians -- they just get the exposure. Any brouhaha created is blown out of proportion. He's not concerned about the rich, because they have his back. He's not concerned about the very poor, since they have no power. He's concerned about those in the middle.
