I don't think there is a rush on that. I will be happily surprised if a sustained upward trend starts by the end of 2020 (or 2021 for that matter). When I sold stocks in late Feb, I mostly sold those in retirement accounts, so that I wouldn't have to pay taxes (for now) and wouldn't have my Medicare premiums go up. I ignored the lesson I've learned a couple of times in the past -- when it is time to sell, sell. Don't wait for short term gain to become long term capital gain, lest it be a loss. Don't let tax consequences be considered more than market consequences.

At the present rate of increase, in two weeks there will be more cases in the US than in China.

I'm not sure that you can totally believe the data coming out of China. Only 21 new cases today, with 80,000 total to date seems incredibly low. I expect that we will be seeing that many per day a year or more from now. US had an increase, just today, of 25% of the total cases to date, and 31% increase in total deaths to date.

With the Bay Area shelter in place order that came out today, to last 3 weeks, I think that the market is in for another 20% drop. My wife happened to stop by the grocery store on the way back from a doctor appt, and it was a madhouse. She sent a photo -- no garlic/onions/whatever, line 2/3 of the way across the store. After that, she went to CVS (pharmacy), but nowhere to park in the entire lot. And panic ensues We were planning to go to her ski condo (to snowshoe -- lifts are closed) tomorrow, but may try to get out before the midnight cutoff tonight. Maybe shopping will be better up there.

We are still above where we were last Thursday, and climbing, but I don't expect that to last long.

Glad we have bidet seats. My TP use for the past 3 days has been two squares, used to squash spiders. At that rate, I have a 20 year supply in stock.

It is late in the season. Few people will be skiing, especially given the virus concerns, and those that do ski will be season pass holders. So, good excuse to shut down and save money. Since Vail bought Kirkwood, they close about 4 weeks earlier than they used to. Great snow right now for the next 2-3 days (about 4 feet of new expected), so we are heading up anyway when it lets up, to hang and to snowshoe.

For some reason, that site has errors today. It is showing less confirmed cases in the US than yesterday. When you look at the province/state breakdown, it is missing California, Florida, Colorado, Louisiana and others in the tally.

For some reason, the other link https://www.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6 shows a lower number of confirmed cases in the US than yesterday, when it was 16xx. It is also showing the UK as 3 confirmed cases to date.
