Good one. I'm going to have trouble not using that line when warranted.

I didn't miss his point at all. I doubt that an iron cross has any slower fall rate than a well executed track. The iron cross will not generate the required lift to match the flat glide of a decent track.

Swooping banned at SD Arizona

It did break the new "no greater than 180" rule. -
Feet together or close to it, arms close to the sides and hands pushing slightly forward of your hips. You need those shoulders rolled in, either just do it, or use the palms up method mentioned above. Legs straight, toes pointed. With booties, ease the feet out over the first 1-2 seconds, so you don't start in a steep dive. It takes a while, especially with booties, to get the correct position without going to head down. Once you build up speed, the lift from your upper body (curled shoulders, etc.) will help flatten out the trajectory. Forget that iron cross track -- I can blow by a guy with 11k jumps that tracks that way.

Skydiving fuel consumption?
headoverheels replied to TurboChrist's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Because the DZO doesn't want to discourage his friends by charging more. Read the link I inserted above, which details most costs of operation of the aircraft. Adjust that upward for present fuel prices. Adjust for financing the aircraft. Add on any hanger/airport space rental, electricity, income for staff/DZO, etc. and you will see that the tandems are paying for the rest of us to jump cheap. Very cheap at my home dz ($15, cheaper in blocks, get about 13.2k altitude on the average). If jump tickets had gone up as much as starting engineer's pay has, since the time that I was one, the tickets would be about $36. -
Secondary lower performance canopy?
headoverheels replied to PhreeZone's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I bought a Pilot for big ways, the 400 in particular. My other canopies are not as reliable for opening on heading. I've used the Katana on 120 ways, but will use the Pilot on anything larger than 40 in the future, even though it doesn't flare so well. -

In differential equations class, a fellow student answered a question "find x" by circling "x" and writing "here it is!" The teacher gave him credit, and said that the next time he would say "solve for x."

Hey, my receding hair line isn't so noticeable when I push my shades up. Like that critic guy on TV...he's totally cue ball, and those shades look great on his head. Don't they? Don't they?

Ask her about jumping El Cap. -
Yes, if I could choose it to be my ex-wife to shoot.

Tell them they can collect on my jump from Perris. Perris owed me a jump refund years back, and I could never get them to make good.
-
That would be funny, were it not just pathetic.
-
Actually, that would be "barefaced."
