I have a friend who had a similar mistake in an adjustable mortgage, which he noticed at closing, but he kept his mouth shut. In that case, they documented the maximum adjustment as 0.01% per year rather than 1%. He started with a low "teaser" rate. After the first year, the mortgage company tried to raise by 1%, but he made them back off to 0.01%, as required in the documents that they had signed. Lucky for him, a no-neg-amortization loan. It worked out to his benefit for about 15 years, until rates dropped and he re-financed.

Evolution - Satan's biggest brilliant and magnificent plan !!
headoverheels replied to skysaintj's topic in Speakers Corner
Substitute "religion" for "evolution" and you might be onto something. Falsify, "Evidence," Diabolical Plot. -
They aren't banned, you just need to use lard or other non-transfat to do the frying. Or are you on a different news item?

Yeah, Shawn, but not everyone wants to blow a cop.

Any idea whether you might have a PFO (patent foramen ovale) or ASA (atrial septal defect)? If so, bubbles can get from your vein side to your artery side, without passing through the lungs. More likely to happen (if you have one) when you cough or clear your ears by valsalva, which causes the differential pressure in the atria to be in the direction to move the bubbles in the direction that bypasses the lungs. About 20% of the population has PFOs. Studies have show higher incidence of decompression illness for that 20% (maybe 3x as high as the overall average), as well as an increased number of brain lesions (doesn't that sound dandy!).

That probably happens to Britney Spears' friends all the time.

I'm getting my Katana 107 relined with 675. The drag difference will not make a difference to me, but the lifetime might.

What would you tell your 18 year old self now?

One word....plastics. -
This is why I made a bit of coin shorting (via buying puts) TASR stock a while back. They used to advertise their product as "non-lethal." IIRC, they changed a while back to "less lethal," which is certainly more accurate, considering the number of recipients who died after being Tased. There was also a 9 year old tasered, in AZ if I recall, but I don't remember that kid's offense. There is a place for Tasers, but it is when the alternative is a gun. If a billy stick is a viable alternative (deemed to be effective without unduly endangering the wielder), then that should be used before tasing.

headoverheels replied to ntrprnr's topic in The Bonfire
Well, post later with a synopsis. My TV is an O'Reilly-free zone. -
Only when they are mine.

Write down this date. I agree with John, and it's not one of his hiking posts.

First 4 on round canopies: RR#1 Mae West on Paracommander RR#2 Cone lock/total on B4 RR#3 Pilot chute caught on someone else's foot, I broke away and glanced off 3rd person's canopy in freefall, tearing out 2 panels. 3rd person cutaway and nearly hit my reserve in freefall. I don't do formation pullouts any more RR#4 Pilot chute fell through a modification slot on opening, causing partial. Hand deployed reserve, landed with both out. RR#5 Floating pilot chute handle on borrowed gear. RR#6 Tension knot from trash packing Raven. Changed to elliptical canopies -- no more malfunctions in last 1600 jumps.

I just measured some microlines on my Katana. The center A lines have shrunk by 2 inches, the outer A lines by 3.75 inches, with just over 100 jumps total. I know it didn't come that way from the factory -- I measured every line when new.

About $245 or $265 installed if I recall. $195 for just the set, IIRC. It is on their web site under Repairs or some such.

Ditto.
