  1. Not news though and not a "new" find. We have known about this since GW1 and located the grave site years ago. It's just that they started digging this week. Makes me wonder about the timing. illegible usually
  2. these guys had one in stock last time I was in teh store Give 'em a call Sony Only Northwest Contact Info: (503) 224-9400 Location Info: 1610 Northwest Glisan Street, Portland, OR 97209 illegible usually
  3. Hey that's a typo... But still pretty funny considering the context.
  4. here http://mathaba.net/x.htm?http://mathaba.net/0_index.shtml?x=76506 is a great example of the fine people who bring us this information... Just adding to the fray-maybe they will have a documentary on "perverted sex practices in a german car" (would probably get better ratings) illegible usually
  5. OK I live in WA but the state next door has this issue on their ballot. THis: http://www.sos.state.or.us/elections/nov22004/guide/meas/m36_fav.html is from the voters pamphlet as an argument FOR banning gay marriage. I thought it was the funniest thing I have read in a while. (I'm also quite sure many paople really don't understand satire. Here is what it says...(I really like the last line!) illegible usually
  6. I had this happen on one of my PC's. No clue as to why, but I replaced the PC, and no more twists. Since it's new, can you send it back for a replacement? illegible usually
  7. What camcorder are you using? Many DV cams will allow limited in camera editing including overlaying of sound from an external source. The manual for my PC 330 has instructions on how to do this, using the a/v in port. Seems pretty straight forward. never tried it though so I can't how easy or effective it is. illegible usually
  8. Looking at the photo I'd say it's a good chance he was wearing a kevlar vest. One that didn't fir very well. illegible usually
  9. Me? No. I think that it is often justifiable to remove someone from existance. I also do not believe that the Bible is the "word of God". I think it is the compilation of what many individuals humans (mostly ignorant humans) thought that God's words were. Most of them really did think they were doing god's will. Some of them were probably just going along to gain power in a rough world. Same as today in many respects, it's just that we ought to be a bit more discerning now. illegible usually
  10. And I agree with you however our government is in the business of promoting the production of citizens. Grows the economy ya know... illegible usually
  11. Guns not required: illegible usually
  12. It's blind faith John. They want their Messiah to lead US to the promised land. Don't bother 'em with facts, you need to rely on FEAR-PATRIOTISM-GOD. It works-reason is just too dull for the mob. I think he knows what Rome is. Rome is the mob. Conjure magic for them and they'll be distracted. Take away their freedom and still they'll roar. The beating heart of Rome is not the marble of the senate, it's the sand of the coliseum. He'll bring them death - and they will love him for it. Gracchus (Gladiator, 2000) illegible usually
  13. Cool: How 'bout if I want to hunt people? There seem to be a lot of them around!! Actually I love to hunt, but only if the weather is too crappy to jump. illegible usually
  14. However, in reference to the commandment “You shall not “kill”, the Hebrew meaning of the word translated as "kill" actually means "murder" or "to slay someone in a violent manner unjustly." smart ass on/ So if you take a life with good reason, and do it in a non-violent way (eg: narcotic overdose) it's OK? /smart ass off illegible usually
  15. No, that's because while it would work just fine if there are actually decent private schools, there aren't any in most areas of the country. There isn'ta simple answer but the bottom line to me is that you don't abandon a system that mostly work because it has a few problems. The answer is to fix the problems. It might surprise you that most of the poor performing schools are in areas that are poor and have little tax base to work off of, and that most areas that are wealthy do actually have public schools that excel. Money does have something to do with it. Not everything mind you, but it definately has an effect. It would be great to say that the inner city kids could go to any school they want but how do you get them there? What would you propose for a poor rural area that has a "failing" public school? Most of these areas don't have options without long bus rides. Do you propose paying for transportation for all students to the private school of their choice as a part of your voucher system? illegible usually
  16. Now that we have the power to subdue the great creatures of the world (and drive them to extinction even) can we quit listening illegible usually
  17. Since you give them a choice, why feel bad about it? No different in my mind then charging additional for a DVD vs VHS on video. illegible usually
  18. Getting the "real" flu will not do any better at protecting you from a shift in the virus than the vaccine. A shift is a shift. Get your shot. illegible usually
  19. The power of a zoom lens. I'm really about 30 miles out. I recall the first trip back into the "red zone" after the May 18th eruption. It was truely and totally awesome. Make you realize just how small and insignificant we really are. Hurricanes/tornados/earthquakes are one thing but blasting several thousand feet off of the top of a mountain is something else. I've got a great photo (film of course) of the 1st eruption- -I'll have to scan it in someday I guess and share illegible usually
  20. And I've got front row seats... the view from my deck is below illegible usually
  21. The US took their share of Nazi immigrants, they went unpunished as well, hell they even paid them lots of money to make your crappy ICBMs. Yeah, I had one for my German teacher in Jr High. He used to tell us stories about his days in the Hitler Youth. Kinda weird old guy then. I guess he wasn't bright enough to be a rocket scientist... illegible usually
  22. With a typical skydive video *tandem* file size is not important since the DVD is big enough to take it. For DVD you are stuck with MPEG 2. MPEG 4 is basically a varaible bit rate compression scheme that is supposed to be more efficient than MPEG 2 (less artifacts at higher compression ratios) I haven't done anything in MPEG 4 so I'm just going off of http://a320.g.akamai.net/7/320/51/cad38f4a7f9b46/www.apple.com/mpeg4/pdf/MPEG4_v3.pdf A great comparison of digital video standards and bit rates is here: http://www.videohelp.com/comparison.htm There's also a couple of links in this page to free MPEG2 converters and reviews. illegible usually
  23. You still lose resolution, just not as much. There is a VISIBLE difference on a quality TV between vids recorded on DVD vai firewire and through analog sources. It just doesn't make sense to be cheap on this. (would you use a vid cam without firewire?) Most of the recorders I've seen recently have it anyway. illegible usually
  24. It already does. If you break your neck, you call 911. You get treated. If you have insurance, it pays. If not, you pay. What? you can't pay a couple of hundred thousand dollars when you can't work because your neck is broken? Fine. The "system" eats the costs. Which then get paid by "society" at large. illegible usually
  25. You really want firewire. You do. You lose resolution if you use rca jacks. illegible usually
