  3. Sorry... Long day... My bad.
  4. "my boss makes me do work." -> "put rotting food in her car." Did I miss a step, or a story, or something along the way, or have I pretty much got the jist of the "problem" at hand?
  5. alternatively, you could join a team in the middle of a HOLY CRAP phase... that's certainly always fun...
  6. I had the iincreditble machine too, unfortunately two problems now... 1) I lost the manual and the security thing does that random "go to paragraph 3 blah blah blah" 2) the game apparently doesn't have any speed control and it was designed to run on a 80386, so when I run a level on my computer now the entire process runs instantly
  7. I've only done the Lancaster to Perris drive once and it really wasn't all that bad, it doesn't take that much longer than it does for me to get there from the south bay area. haha, yeah it is a ways out into the desert, but I guess they really just wanted that runway to line up nicely with a dry lake.
  8. reload the page, hit the plus button at the bottom and type in the password for the last level you were working on. this problem comes up on the later levels for some reason.
  9. it's a somewhat large progressive jpg so it may take a few seconds to load. you can pretty clearly see the guy I'm talking about, and it's not the guy falling off the pier
  10. I'm going way out on a limb here but I'd wager the fact that I can't see these has something do with this...
  11. hey I got something along these lines too. See if you can tell me who in this picture is having the worst day.
  12. okay I beat level 25 (god those bombs are annoying) and now I'm level 26, and it starts out with the lasers pointing at bombs... so as soon as I place a piece I die (passcode is "boss" if you don't believe me) /edited: whoa, some bugs in this game, no wonder I couldn't beat level 26, enter the passcode "boss" then click the minus button to select level 25, press go, then click plus, then click go... it doesn't remove some of the pieces and ends up creating an impossible level...
  13. if anyone's interested the passcode to level 25 is "firewire" that's where I got stuck back when I first played this game a couple years ago, couldn't figure it out then, don't have time to do it at work right now
  14. 11 is tricky but not too bad, I'm stuck on 25
  15. Me First and the Gimme Gimmes did a cover of "Crazy", that might be the one you're thinking of
  16. I'm an occasional smoker and have been for a couple years now (the fastest I've ever gone through a pack of cigarettes was prolly a week and a half) it was mostly a college thing and I'd do it to take a break when I'd be up for days straight doing school work. If you see me smoking now, it's probably because I've had a couple drinks, am around a whole bunch of people I don't know all that well, and am feeling awkward, so feel free to come jerk the cigarette out of my mouth and suggest something else to do
  17. also I've played with some numbers since I made that post, here's my spreadsheet. /edited to add: you'll notice if you input an altitude lower than geosynchronous (~22,284 miles) , you'll get negative tension in the tether (meaning it'll start falling to earth) and if you put in an altitude of zero and a mass of 1kg, the tension is -2.2lbs (which makes sense, cause one kg weighs about 2.2 lbs on the surface of the earth) sorry, I'm just doing "sanity checks" on my calculations
  18. Wartime. Yeah, "Tactical to Practical" is a show that definately has a lot of material to work with.
  19. I think I see what lawrocket is trying to say... pretend you're in a craft tethered to the planet. at these altitudes there's no atmosphere to speak of so the only thing that's going to keep you there is a) the carbon structure is going to hold you up there (not likely) or b) your orbital momentum is going to be sufficient that you just stay at the same altitude. But there's another constraint, since you're attached to the surface, you have to be high enough up such that your oribtal velocity and the pull of gravity work out in your favor. this happens at about 22,241 miles. The article says this thing is going to be at almost 70000 miles, so if it's staying over the same spot on earth it should more than enough speed to stay in orbit. In fact, it should be trying to leave orbit, being whipped around by the tether like the poor kid on the end playing crack the whip at the ice rink. so if you could slowly raise something up to the top of the structure, and then let it go, it should be flung off into space. now I'll sit back and wait for kallend to give me an intellectual beat down.
  20. when are politics and funding not the major obsticle for new technologies?
  21. Aren't you fogetting, we're in a dream... you can get shot all you want and you won't feel a thing. Just don't tell her it didn't hurt afterwords, it'll make the rest of the dream more fun.

  24. She has to be able to pull off at least one really cool card trick.
  25. I figure I'm at least in the top 10 "most boring skydivers" if not top 5.
