  1. In before journal printouts! Happy Birthday!
  2. For some reason this reminds me of the Simpson's episode where Mr Burns is having a bunch of medical tests done. He's being put in an MRI machine, and suddenly it says "body jam", and they pull the side panel off and he's stuck in a bunch of rollers.
  3. I was hopeful, but as soon as I saw "stare intently at this peaceful image" and it was a flash movie for no reason whatsoever... I just hit mute and waited to see what image was going to pop out at me. I have to admit, these things remind me of the first flash movie I made... when I was in high school... it was about 5 years ago now... http://media.chaz720.net/sailing.swf
  4. I'm off Sun/Mon as well, I'll still be at work for another couple hours... ...grr, itching to jump tomorrow...

  6. thanks Tomas, Rosa, Tracy... What can I say, Cali's been a bit of alright. The novelty of having a beach a few minutes away still hasn't worn off (and as far as I can tell, never will) And my work schedule affords me a great deal of daylight with which I can be a useless bum. Oh, and the couch is a reality now Tomas, just try and give me a few days notice...
  7. I've all but completely given up on the pub, the last dozen times or so I've checked in there it's just the bots and souleh (who I'm pretty certain is also a bot)
  8. thanks ACME and it doesn't really matter when you say it, I've been working kinda weird hours lately, so I'm not entirely sure what day it is anymore. btw, are you going to be at Chicks Rock in October?
  9. sorry but if I got a call like that it wouldn't be quite as amusing. "hang up and call 911." I wouldn't be cought dead trying to help someone over the phone with a medical problem.
  10. why would you want to be politically correct if you're not a politician?
  11. Family Guy. classic episode that. Dear MacGyver, Enclosed is a paper clip, a rubber band, and a drinking straw.. please save my dog

I think the only time I've ever actually left my chair and yelled "holy shit!" while playing a video game was at the end of episode 1 of wolfenstein when you wander around in that arena like room for 10 minutes seeing no one, then finally open the door at then end and are greated wi- GUTEN TAG!
  14. well, on the flyers it reads "chicks rock", and then in a really small, almost illegible font it said "and guys rock too" My best estimate is around 90% of "total rocking" (by weight, not volume) will be by chicks, and around 8% by guys. The remaining 2% coming from, as we all know, the various bastard vermin digging burrows around the landing area. This leaves guys with 92% of their time free to skydive, drink, and grow eyes on the backs of our heads to avoid being forcibly removed from the premises or thrown into the pool.
  15. does your company use liquid nitrogen for anything? and do you have access to any labs where said liquid can be dispensed? get yourself a small fan and a styrofoam cup...
  16. that entire episode made my brain press against the inside of my skull.
  17. "Hurry up and get on the plane everyone I have to take a shit!"
  18. The trail along the Garden Wall near the Logan Pass Visitor Center has some spactacular views. another good trail from that visitor center leads up to hidden lake and has some pretty cool views and some natives tend to hang out around there as well. /edit only about half those links worked the first time
  19. Allow me to assure you my comment about inflation, taxes, and world suffering was in jest. This whole thread was supposed to be in good fun, then you made me get all socratic up in here.
  20. that is actually a good explaination of why to round up... ...provided you have prior knowledge that your instrument of measure performs simple truncation as opposed to any kind of rounding itself (such as a digital clock, or a clock that tics instead of sweeps) but then again, maybe the clock tics to the next second exactly half way between the last second and the current one, and then tics again exactly half way between this second and the next. In this case the clock would actually be rounding to the nearest second, and for any given reading, you'd have an equal chance of the actual time being just before or just after your measurement.
  21. someone already pmed me the "answer" that's on that site, but I still think it's balderdash. if you're talking about rounding numbers between 70.0 and 71.0 to the nearest ones place, you can't say, "70.0, 70.1, 70.2, 70.3, and 70.4 get rounded down and 70.5, 70.6, 70.7, 70.8, and 70.9 that's five in each direction, yay everyone wins." well, you can't say that without being horribly horribly wrong anyway. I'm sorry, 70.0 doesn't count, it was a stellar attempt at a valid explaination, but you're not rounding it anywhere, it's already there. the truth is, there are four numbers going down, and five numbers going up. And while it's fine that it's a standard to round ".5" up even though it's exactly in the middle, it was a completely arbitrary decision that made it that way. I think this is why we have inflation, increasing taxing, and world suffering.
  22. I just had that graphic flash in my head of the dart boards demostrating the difference between accuracy and precision... ...you know the one...
  23. Oxford? f$%k that, I'm not wasting my time then... alright alright, serious thread, I'm sorry. My little life reminder is that at the end of the day, you'll be happier if you laugh at the stupidity you encounter rather than yell at it. for example, if you're driving and the person in front of you has their turn signal on, and keeps slowing down and almost turning but then deciding that's not the street they want, don't honk and curse at them. instead, try making up an inner monolgue to go along with this person's actions as they wander aimlessly around and share it with the people in your car.
