How to properly check chest straps
BlueEyedMonster replied to AggieDave's topic in Safety and Training
I just hook my thumb behind the middle of my chest-strap and pull out. If its not there, or comes out of the buckle... There is a problem. I do this every time I check my handles on the ground and in the plane. -
ha ha ha Thanks! If it wasn't for you Europeans sending all your religious fanatics to the colonies, we might not have these crazy laws.
-
I've bought tickets there several times, but I never signed up to be a user. Never had the problem.

I'm blue... does that make me a beast or human?

I have respect for the extremely devout people. I just do not share their beliefs. Yes, sometimes in the back of my head I am guilty of a "how pathetic" thought or two--as I am sure a deeply religious person is toward me. That is all fine and dandy... The issue here is, enforcing ones morals on people that do not share them. That is why it is becoming taboo. I have been treated very kindly by people that morally do not agree with me, and I am happy to return that respect. Unfortunately, not everyone is capable of that.

General admission is one jump ticket.

Obviously you care, you replied; and you have been quite the mainstay of this thread... got any more stats for me? I love stats and bible quotes.
-
Why the choice? Neither is more important. We have freedom of religion to prevent one religious group from imposing their morals on another. A moral is something that is a guide to what you believe is right. Not a law to be enforced on everyone else. Once you fail to respect other people's beliefs and try to enforce your morals on other people, you have crossed the line into discrimination.

He read the facts.... YOU misread them. There is a big difference between current infections (some have been around for 10, 15+ years) and NEW infections. But, keep trying to twist the facts to make a bad point. You might get someone to believe you.

Well Sue, I skipped jumping this weekend. Then it came down to cleaning my room, or going to pride... I finally got my room clean!
-
Now why can't more guys have this type of attitude? It would make life sooooo much simpler for the bottom types.

He may be blessed... but he better get a haircut and shave the facial hair. I like short hair and I'm not really into long goatees.

Are you tall? I prefer tall guys... and I guess 10" will do. ... And bring your bible. Sodomy works much better if I have something to prop my butt up.

Ya know Sadsue... I wanted to be pregnant once.. But I grew out of that. But what the hell! I'm gonna keep trying. It's been legal in the Midwest for a long time. So I don't really care about texas

Hey SadSue! You are fun to play with Before I start, here is an interesting article about black cops. http://www.city-journal.org/html/12_3_black_cops.html So what did they do about it? Did the couple educate and make friends, or did they accept the isolation and let the racism perpetuate? Closed minds usually don't open themselves, it takes someone to open the door. Don't forget that diversity also includes the right-wing religious fanatics. That is what America is supposed to be. A melding of everything. That includes right/left wing along with what you mentioned. I have a co-worker that sits next to me. He's a black guy, his wife is a skinny blond babe. He's never had the fear of molitov cocktails. Apology accepted... And what an excellent opportunity to expand your diversity bu understanding those techniques and the reasons for them. We didn't create it. We are just a few little specs on it. So, slowly over 100's of years we will get better. But it will be generation by generation, not just *poof* were perfect tomorrow. Most states have low cost tuition for state residents. Quite honestly, because he is black, has more opportuinty for funding. The problem is generational poverty, and the fundamental belief that poor or minority people can't achieve what others can. The kid growing up in the slum thinks about being on top by being a supervisor at McDonald's? Why? He/She has the same potential that you or I have. The only thing stopping them is themselves. Yes there may be more barriers, but why not go around them? So if you could spin a little bit of your Northern California magic, and make all these poor kids all over the country believe they can be anything.... That would solve many of our problems. And, you would then prevent many of the events like what you saw on the tape.

SadSue! You have been arguing without me... I feel so hurt But, my post requested facts from you. I have yet to see any. Just more opinion, insults and a suggestion that you should use a non-lethal defense against a LETHAL threat. You also stated that this was a racially motivated shooting. Again, please provide defendable evidence and facts to back up your accusations. Your point would be received a little better if you debated with facts. And quite honestly, IMHO, the reason the tapes were released was not public pressure, but rather the police dept knew the officers were correct. If the police officers were guilty of the offense you accuse them of, do you really think the tapes from the police cars would have made it to the press? They would probably still be locked up in some evidence locker.

I used to count, until I started tracking. I found that depending on body position (track/belly/sit) my fall rate can vary quite a bit. I stopped myself from using my internal clock for altitude awareness after fighting off the urge to pull at 8,000 on a couple of track dives. I have learned my altitude awareness by the size of ground objects. How big are the rows of corn? ...the dotted lines on a road? ...a familiar building?

I believe this is how it works: Anyplace that you can expect privacy, they must get permission. If a back yard is open with no big huge privacy fence, it is fair game. However your house, shed, trunk of your car... those are enclosed and private. They would need permission. The exception to this is... The officer is talking to you at your front door, he sees, smells, or hears anything through your door/window to give him probable cause--then they can go in without your permission.

Hi SadSue, You stand corrected As I wrote in a previous post... I actually read the newspaper articles that accompanied the videos. There was an investigation. The DA ruled it a justified homicide. Where I come from, the DA is an elected official, not an agent of the law enforcement establishment. The Police Chief stated it was a "Suicide by Cop." If that is not public enough, the evidence (videos) was released to the public. If you look at the poll, at least the public here agrees with the DA. I don't know you or your police friends. I have never had the opportunity to establish a trustful relationship with any of you. I do know my mother, a police officer, DARE Officer, and expert in domestic abuse. I also know my step-father, a Sergeant for the county police, Range Officer, SWAT team member, and Firearms Training Officer; and all their friends and co-workers that I learned from and respected. For this reason, and from the training that I have received, I know those police officers did exactly what they were trained to do. Therefore, when given an opinion that directly contradicts all that I know about this type of situation, I am going to go with the people I trust. Please do so. I love debating subjects like this because I learn facts. You have yet to present any hard facts that these officers failed to follow training, or that the training was flawed. You have stated your opinions, what if's, and unfeasible solutions (Tackling a non-cooperative person possibly armed with a gun, is a downright suicidal idea.) I am only persuaded by facts. Please present me with defendable, un-deniable facts. The police officers in the video have exactly these qualities your friends have. They performed exactly as they were trained to in a split-second, life and death situation that many people would have buckled. It did not go unchecked... it got plenty of news coverage, it was investigated internally by the Police Dept, and was investigated by an elected official (DA). I seriously respect your emotion, and hopefulness that this could have been handled another way. I agree that everything should be questioned. Without that self-examination, a better solution will never be found. But in this case, I cannot go with emotion and hope. I am going with training, facts, and the belief that those officers (based on the video) felt their lives were in danger and my knowledge that they followed their training. You too... I'm anxiously awaiting your facts. --Jason

Um, you just need the stuff that I had. I wish I remember what the heck it was. But waking up in the morning was great.... as sick and wrong as that sounds.

Mine too, but I go there every weekend. I camp out Friday and Saturday nights. I forget you get all those holidays over there. I'm Jealous. I took the AFF1 class, then had to wait for weather for 3 weeks. But, I did all 7 jumps in 2 days as soon as it was clear. It took me 2 months to get my A. Mostly because of Minnesota weather in September, October, and November. --Jason

0:3:0 3 day weekend--just got 3 jumps Friday evening. But, of course, the weather went to hell Saturday and Sunday. I got my kitchen cleaned up though, and some other stuff done around the house . Housework is for weekdays!

You're welcome. I studied it for 4 years in school... But that was 10 years ago. I have forgotten much of it. Are you serious? So now that you did your tandem, when are you going to start your freefall courses? Bis Später (I'll write it out--where I come from BS means Bull Shit ) --Jason

Hey I've had this happen a couple of times. My sleep schedule just started slipping. Every night I finally got to sleep later than the night before. But, I kept getting up at the same time. Pretty soon I was getting 2 hours of sleep a night, and the sleep deprivation was getting pretty serious. I went to the doc, and he gave me some prescription sleeping pills. I swear they were elephant tranquilizers or something. But, after taking them at the same time every night for 5 nights in a row, I was fixed.
