  1. blue-eyed-monster Superhero to the World. Its all on the website... history and everyting.
  2. I used to work for a TCI back when it existed. Installers (including PrimeStar) were not allowed to accept tips.
  3. I'm gonna agree with the slide if you can in high speed downwinds. Last winter I was in this exact same position. Different outcome (GPS said I was going 36mph for the 3 sec before impact) The terrain was frozen, plowed field (sliding impossible) I PLF'ed. Marks on my jumpsuit showed I hit the ground just like I should have. Except I twisted as my torso hit, my face hit the dirt. (Glad I bought that Z1) My head was trapped by a furrow. I flipped once pivoting on my visor hinge, slammed my chin into my sternum as I turned a vertebra into a little wedge shape. I completely stopped in two body lengths. Owwwiee. Now I am an inch shorter and it cost me 6 weeks of good jumping time! ...and yes, I get a dumbass point for loosing alt awareness under canopy and ending up in that downwind situation in the first place.
  4. We have become the most powerful nation in the world, not because of conquest, but hard work. That is something that we are all a part of. Of course we have our freedom too. Its really hard to explain it--the feeling, no words can really describe the depth of it. Its something you would have to experience when you see the flag and hear the "Star Spangled Banner", see every day people become heros, understand what good we actually do around the world (despite the criticism we face.), or truly grasp the depth of sacrifice that has made us what we are.
  5. Sensless polls give me something to click on.... so I look busy at work while we are between projects.
  6. Why, did you get your ass kicked or something?
  7. Look at that... It's Fucking magic (_!_) **Poof** (.)(.) I can turn an ass into boobies.
  8. It is a ride; someone else is driving. But, if you do a tandem first, you will still feel the blast, know what it feels like to look out the door, know what it feels like to not have anything under you, and know what the ground looks like as you land. A tandem first will help you relax a little more with the added experience. On your first AFF jump, where you actually have tasks to perform, that experience is a good thing. Besides, if something unexpected happens on your first jump, you can't get away from a tandem master.
  9. Great, thats fine and dandy, but I am still going to question. How else am I going to learn?
  10. Airborne??? OK, if you are in the military, you Serve the president. You may not criticize him. He is your commander in chief. It's against the rules. However, I am not in the military, I am just a voter. Therefore, the President Serves me. The country is not a dictatorship. (yet) I am going to exercise my 1st amendment right to speak freely when I believe the Pres does something dumb. Its my patriotic duty. BTW. Thanks for being nice. edited to add: I also agree with your argument though on the inconsistancy of the deletions.
  11. OH LOOK! Bush is bad again! He got trumped by another conservative Republican!!! According to the bible, taxes should be raised on the rich to the benefit of the poor. http://abcnews.go.com/sections/us/Politics/religion030702.html I have finally fallen in love with a conservative, bible thumping republican.
  12. Wow, I thought everyone would think the other way. At our DZ a tandem is required first. Its just safer, and they had too many people never finish AFF. You don't know what to expect--how to deal with the sensory overload. I think its best to enjoy the ride the first time... then learn to drive. Thats just my opinion --Jason
  13. Tell us that again when you have finished AFF, bought your own rig and spent everything that was left on jump tickets. 2 points for Skreamer! Yeah if it wasn't for skydiving I'd be putting a grand away a month into a savings account. But.... why should good cash sit around when there is jump tickets to be purchased? Quite honestly. You take away overtime, and you take away my jump $$$ I don't spend my money... and the economy is not stimulated... and recession recession recession.
  14. Oh those evil corporations! You are referring to the ones that provide jobs, right? Chris Yes but they have a responsibility. If they pull too much crap like this... Unions will benefit from backlash and get too powerful... and then the worst conceivable thing ever could happen.... We might end up like FRANCE
  15. $23,000 a year does not qualify you as a "higher wage earner" That is still fast food wages... and low end help desk people. And contractors like me that make more than that, but rely on the OT.
  16. And he's trying to pull it off quietly in a way that avoids congress and gee look... The time for pubic comment has expired.
  17. Never had a young lady call me that... Just the older motherly types. Some day you will have to try it on me and see how I react.
  18. Geee. Lets challenge/dare people to kill our Soldiers. Thats brilliant.
  19. My Javelin J3 was originally purchased for a 190 sqft main. A previous owner had a 150sqft in... during a sit had a premature deployment. After this, Velcro was added to the bridle and bottom of the container. AND, an elastic strap was sewn on the bottom flap to help secure tuck tab from the top flap. I am told this was a mfgr recommended mod. With the 170 sqft main that was in it when I purchased it I noticed a few hesitations after tossing out, but nothing serious. By this time the elastic strap was quite worn and stretchy. One day, I had a Pilot Chute in tow. I cleared it by pulling the bridle. This ripped the elastic strap in half. I had the elastic replaced. The new elastic held too well. The second jump with it was another pilot chute in tow and could not be cleared. It ended up being two canopies out, main bridle/freebag entanglement, then a sweet landing under reserve. The next morning was when we finally figured out the elastic strap mod was actually causing the PIT. I now jump it without the elastic strap, but with the Velcro securing the bridle. I have had no issues sit flying. (open flaps or loose bridle) AND, I will now always cut away if the PC and Bridle are not in the BOC.
