  1. [replyJust about every climatologist out there disagrees with you on that. CO2 levels are rising (you can prove this with a simple chemical test) and temperatures are rising dramatically with them. Yes they are, but there have been much higher levels in the past. Its all a big rollercoaster. Everything goes up and down and up and down. Historically speaking, we are in a normal upswing anyway (yes we are adding to it) but the oceans are going to warm and the ice caps are going to almost be gone with or without us. Does it really really matter if we make it happen 100 years earlier in a million year scale?
  2. I respectfully disagree. Because of or our brain power and technology, we are going to become the cockroach of the mammal world. Just like the alligators and other well adapted animals, we will survive through just about anything. In a few years we will no longer have to wait for hundreds of generations to adapt... our genes and traits could be changed in a Single generation. If the planet goes to hell, we will just move to another one. Look where our technology has taken us in the last 100 years. Now just try to fathom where we will be in the next 200. We will survive through anything.
  3. Yes, I knew there was an evil side to the Smurfs. You get to see your friends Sponge Bob and the Southpark kids as they play along. Tuesday morning apparently needs a little brightening. So I'll give it a try. Enjoy! NSFW??? http://www.iconsofindustry.org/strife/
  4. I'd almost drink anything to try it, but this is not one of those anythings... it looks like vomit waiting to happen. Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz Haitian Dark rum (Barbancourt) Juice of 1/2 Lime 2 dashes Peychaud bitters Fill with Ginger beer Mixing instructions: Add rum, lime juice and bitters to an ice-filled Collins glass. Fill with ginger beer. Garnish with a lime wheel and a lemon spiral. Creator/contributor's comments: Yet another of Tony Abou-Ganim's wonderful creations!
  5. I'm jealous...That was so awesome. It makes me very poud just reading it. Thank you for sharing. hmmm I think I got dirt in my eye or something.
  6. Sure, if I can add Canada and Mexico to the US total. Europe is a continent not a country. Productivity... Production per man hour. There are only 3 countries higher than the US. Sweeden, Korea, and Tiawan. http://www.bls.gov/news.release/prod4.t01.htm ..as for unit labor cost in mfg. We are quite high.. but Germany is far from the lowest. http://www.bls.gov/news.release/prod4.t10.htm Exactly my point. We work hard for what we have. We want what we earn. We pay much less in taxes than Europeans typically do. The Gov't has less cash to give away. Its just frustrating to sit and listen to other people tell us.. Since you are bigger, you need to do this and that and oh wait, you can't do this because you are bigger. 2 examples: LIBERIA. "Don't go to Iraq." "Go to Liberia" Here I have an excellent example in the form of a political cartoon.
  7. .... you have more summer clothes in your cubby at the DZ than you have at home.
  8. Try another one.... Yes, it is an orphanage BUT: http://genesisexpeditions.org/casactc005.htm And, from what I am reading about it... Its actually in Mexico. It just has offices in California.
  9. Puking sucks... errr I mean it blows. /\/\/\/\/\/\/\...Blue Vibes.../\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
  10. The records I could find went back to 1850.. I have seen graphs that show thousands of years... determined from ice core samples in the arctic. I can't find them now. But remember the Ice Ages? Yes we may be adding fuel to the fire, but we actually are in a hot/cold cycle that is NATURAL. Its going to get hotter. Just like it did between every ice age. Then its going to get colder. An ice age is a natural cycle too. I guess when the next ice age comes, we might have to drop whatever "clean" energy we are using at that time, and go back to fossil fuels to warm the place back up.
  11. Yay! More tornados. --Never seen one but want to. More goofy winds. --Makes hitting the target more of a challenge. A few rainy weekends. --Yes they suck, but how else am I going to save money for a birdman suit and a new rig? Try out the sturdiness of the new tent. --I'm told its "bombproof." I want to find out for sure. The open space of the DZ and a good midwestern severe thunderstorm should prove the theory!
  12. There is a big difference between a foster home and an orphanage. My aunt/uncle are foster parents. Mother has "troubles" and don't even know about dad. But, the kids are just as free to come and go as any kid is at home. And what US state still has orphanages? I thought they all closed down years and years ago. Can you tell me where there is an operational one?
  13. Last time I checked... WE DON'T Are you trying to justify Saddam's Policy of dealing with his political enemies? Are you saying people prosecuted for crossing the Saddam's regime are bad parents unfit to care for their children? I am not justifying a war. No where in this statement did I even come close to attempting to justify an entire war on this Orphanage. I am justifying the freeing of the kids from the "Orphanage." And, what about the rest of their familys, Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents? How do you know that the kids are living on the street?
  14. ha ha ha I just had one sleeping at my desk this morning. It was complete with tornados (very cool) I assume because we were checking out Buffalo Lake on our climb to altitude this weekend (It got hit by a tornado a week or so ago) And I happened to drive through a town where there was a boogie and they were dropping prize-loaded flat-bed trailers with canopies attached. And you got to keep the prizes if you were the first one to the trailer. And yes, ask AFF instructor about the hook knife... Ask if you can carry one on your student jumps. If you know you can defeat the mal you will kill the nightmare.
  15. www.orbitz.com Is another decent site. Its run by the airlines themselves so sometimes they undercut the other guys. (Not officially of course)
  16. EXACTLY! If you put your foot down, its your fault then. And, he won't learn his lesson. And I personally have been one of those goofballs that has fallen in love with someone 2000 miles away. It can work, but it takes money a job and the ability to move away from home. Give him time. It will pass and your son will laugh about it in a few years. --Jason
  17. Oh, nice. It was a horrible thing freeing those kids from the "Orphanage." Hmm. Obviously they were locked in. Their parents were killed or imprisoned by Saddam's regime. Conditions were so horrible most would not want to return. Sounds like a prison to me. You can call it an orphanage if you want.
  18. Yes, this is a good idea. Make sure you remember your big HOOK KNIFE in your next dream. Cut the bridle, then cut away and open your reserve into clean air and stick a perfect landing! I love these! I always get laid and I usually fly around like a superhero.
  19. Its in german. The US spends 0.09% of its GNP for development aid Denmark spends 0.97%. The OECD countries spend an average of 0.22%.... Nice try but I can see through the spin... The statement you replied to said "far MORE aid pours out" Not a bigger percentage. According to the source that you linked. In 2002: http://www.oecd.org/pdf/M00018000/M00018516.pdf And the percentages you supplied: The US spending .09% of its GDP spent $9,344,790,000 USD. Denmark spent .97% or ONLY $1,669,370,000 USD. So actually the US Spent 5.6 times the amount Denmark did on aid. All the OCED countries, at .22% spent $57,826,120,000 on Aid. There are 30 countries in the OCED. We funded 16% of the Aid. Funny that. 100/30=3.3% I believe we pay MORE than our fair share. If you have in issue with this. Try looking up the stats on the number of hours worked per week by Europeans compare this to Americans. Then look up Vacation/Holidays taken by Americans -vs- Europeans. Then, come complain to us about how much we spend and what % of your GDP you spend WHEN, and ONLY WHEN, Europeans work as many hours and as many days as we do.
  20. It's very, very sad but at the moment I think we all have to be extra vigilant. Nope. I'm not going to let some psycho scare me into second guessing or not trusting my friends. I will change nothing.
  21. 2:10:ALMOST 2 alcoholic beverages on the 4th ...Skydivers are corrupting me . The 2'nd was a long island. I have no tolerance, so I was pretty looped for a bit. 10 Awesome jumps... Hopefully solved the issue causing my D-Bag locks. I tracked with a birdman... I got my fallrate down to the upper 70's I love tracking! 1 almost beer because some not very current jumper spiraled down ahead of me in the pattern while I was on my downwind. I gave him room and missed the taxiway by a few inches.
  22. I paid $40 for a jump out of a Robinson R-44 helicopter at 5,500ft Totally worth the experience!!
  23. Candy bars from the vending machine and a one-a-day vitamin for breakfast... drink diet dew all day... usually skip lunch... to busy packing and jumping (subway if I do get hungry) and dinner after the sun goes down. Usually a bacon cheeseburger or something with fries.
  24. Ha ha ha I thought this was a porn thread... but since its not... The WILD are going all the way!
