+1 Pretty much what I was going to mention. When landing out with no "runway" in front of you it will seem that your canopy is a little higher performance than you really want it to be.

Man, talk about double meanings! I'm pretty sure he means "methane". Now, here in Polk County "meth" could very well mean "meth" in the classical sense. Plenty of chickenhead families that "cook" together here. Once in awhile a house explodes. Have you seen the show? It is about methamphetamines. Breaking Bad Well, I'll be dammd! No, I don't get to watch TV. My 13 yo can commandier the TV, his ipod, and Playstation all at the same time. I think the last tv show I've seen (that I wanted to) was Barney Miller. I was thinking of "meth" like in the movie Blazing Saddles.

I did this quicky a while back with Corel Photopaint and Coreldraw from someone else's excellent photo. Not skydiving but aviation related.

Tandem from a CASA at Zhills during the Easter Boogie. The image that really stands out is standing on the tailgate and watching the surreal view of the tandem pair just before us dropping away. I can still feel the crisp, cold air and I remember Greg (my tandem pilot) tapping me on the shoulder and saying "Ready?", bringing me briefly back to awareness. I don't remember the exit. I vaguely remember seeing the camera guy (Pink) in freefall. I remember only some of the canopy ride but I do remember the landing. After the landing I didn't really get that "Yahoo!" feeling. I think I just internalized the jump and just tried to take it all in. I knew I wanted to keep doing this but I spent the next few weekends hanging out at the DZ asking questions and bugging everyone to see if these people (and the culture) were nuts or if there was some sort of discipline involved. I found out that there was a little of each and that was OK with me.

Dayton?! Doesn't the USAF rule there?
-
So......I wonder when we're going to start hearing from the Upper Big Branch/Deepwater Horizon "truthers"?

Wait for the end...it's GREAT! that was an incredible ending... (note the dates of these posts...) Took a while to get to the end huh?! "Dial-up" sucks, don't it!

I, too, thought this prohibition was interesting and I found this: http://www.dva.gov.au/commems_oawg/commemorations/protection_of_Anzac/Pages/index.aspx Looks like official protection of the word "ANZAC" dates to 1921.

At least you didn't ruin a bottle of Hai Karate (be careful how you use it!) or Bacchus.
-
Thanks to a poster over on rec.skydiving I've become a fan of this girl. I believe she sang this song for ANZAC Day a couple of years ago.

I used to own one just like #10. I wonder what the reg # is on that one?

Alaska dog honored for leading troopers to fire.

"Well what is it boy? Are you lost? Do you want to play?" (more barking) "Is it trouble? Trouble? Is it a accident? A drowning? A fire?" (more barking) "Yeah! Yeah! Fire!! Oh no! Gosh! We've got to warn everybody! I've heard about dogs like you! You're going to be famous! You're gonna get your picture taken and they'll put it in the paper! Gosh, this is exciting! You saved my life! Come on, lets warn everybody!" "Arf! Arf! Arf! Fire! It's a fire! Everybody! Wake up! It's a fire! This dog, he's saving everybody's life! He's unbelievable! This is some dog! He's a lifesaver! That's what I'll call him too! Ol' Lifesaver! That's going to be your name." -
I've used what looks like "half" of this unit for beach jumps, etc. I didn't realize it was part of a "pair". I strapped it around my waist with a nylon "belt" before putting on my rig. It resembles a mini belly reserve when worn that way. Now that I've seen pics of how it is supposed to be worn and how it looks deployed (the LPU-2) I like that better.

Hey Dan, I think you're a day late!
-
Sounds like fun! Make sure you pull the correct cutaway handle! Don't forget to post the video.

I would think these patches would be OK. Caption says, "Canopy has been strengthened with two patches by Performance Designs free of charge when it was due for a its first and only reline. Certification available on request."

Wife (excitedly running through the front door): "Pack your bags! I just hit the lottery!" Husband: "Fantastic! Should I pack for the mountains or for the beach!" Wife: "I don't care!.... Just get the hell out!!"
-
You might want to rephrase that. I had to read your post a couple of times to get it.

I think there were no lights visible in TX this time. The approach path was farther north, across the CO, OK, AR area. We missed the boom here in Central Fla., too.
-
OK, I'll see your lights and raise you a launch. (I think a launch and a boom beats just the lights. )
-
You folks in TX get the lights and we get the boom. Don't know which is cooler!

PLUS! ....you get the added bonus of really impressing your friends by telling them that not only do you jump out of airplanes, but you are so baaad that you strap lead on before you jump!
