  1. Ummm, keep saving I think... And dont strap it on before you are ready... I said strap on...
  2. U.S.P.A. License Number: D-1, Lew Sanborn Accuracy Competition at Skydive Spaceland in 2004. This is an edit I did for Lew a couple years ago and I resurrected the file to share with all. It can be downloaded from: http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=4902 Lew liked it and I certainly enjoyed doing some work for one of skydiving’s living legends... - Mykel AFF-I10 Skydiving Priorities: 1) Open Canopy. 2) Land Safely. 3) Don’t hurt anyone. 4) Repeat…
  3. For your encoding try using Microsoft Media Encoder. This one is the easiest to use: Windows Media Encoder 9 Series Download the 32-bit version of Windows Media Encoder 9 Series for Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Found at this link: http://www.microsoft.com/...encoder/default.mspx Good luck, - Mykel AFF-I10 Skydiving Priorities: 1) Open Canopy. 2) Land Safely. 3) Don’t hurt anyone. 4) Repeat…
  4. Is a "spelling and grammar nazi" someone who murders every other person they can find in the world that does not pay attention to the details when they are composing the written word? Well, along with the Jews, homosexuals, elderly and crippled as well as every non member of their superior race? Jeez, I betta nut maek anie miztakes wen riting den... Just curious is all…
  5. This ia a very good point. I have to admit something: I once instructed someone I was so incredibly attracted to physically, it might have impeeded me from doing my best as an instructor. I did my best to not be flirtatious or show outwardly that she was the hottest chick I had ever seen - but in hindsight what I should have done was pass her off to another instructor. - Mykel AFF-I10 Skydiving Priorities: 1) Open Canopy. 2) Land Safely. 3) Don’t hurt anyone. 4) Repeat…
  6. Nazis were responsible for one of the most horrific atrocities ever inflicted against mankind. They attempted to and were nearly successful at a full out genocide against a peaceful sect of human beings! I hardly believe that someone imposing a mandatory AAD requirement can be compared to a Nazi. For me, I do not see a good use of the term Nazi for the majority of everyday communication. Seems like this is another BONFIRE issue posted in the wrong forum... - Mykel AFF-I10 Skydiving Priorities: 1) Open Canopy. 2) Land Safely. 3) Don’t hurt anyone. 4) Repeat…
  7. To add another dimension to Billvon's post: 3 Ring release systems have been known to NOT release in various situations following a cutaway. It is possible that the 3 Ring will not release the opening main in time to not interfere with the reserve. The hesitation in release could result from insufficient drag or a 3 Ring assembly that is not releasing properly and could very well result in an entanglement - I would rather be under 2 parachutes. 2 out is an easily handled situation if the jumper is prepared (through continued training) and remains calm. I have seen both successful and not so successful descents under 2 parachutes and 100% of the not so successful category was due to the jumper not handling the situation correctly and without panicking and the landings produced serious injuries. The not so successful group all fit into the category of individuals who failed to continue to train on a regular basis through-out their skydiving careers. _ Mykel AFF-I10 Skydiving Priorities: 1) Open Canopy. 2) Land Safely. 3) Don’t hurt anyone. 4) Repeat…
  8. I would LOVE to test jump malfunctions in a controlled setting. Lucky you! I have experienced the same thing with a bag lock, did not stand me up at all, just stayed belly to earth, barely could feel the bag lock trailing behind me. - Mykel AFF-I10 Skydiving Priorities: 1) Open Canopy. 2) Land Safely. 3) Don’t hurt anyone. 4) Repeat…
  9. I am not certain that the slider is always not visible with a streamer malfunction. I have seen video footage of streamers where the slider was clearly visible, just not doing what it was designed to do. Some skydivers will use the slider visibility to determine if they are having a slider malfunction; meanwhile altitude is getting burned up quickly. I think the best way of recognizing a slider malfunction most efficiently is to start counting after the PC is thrown. After 5 seconds the parachute should have a recognizable shape to it. I still count while my parachute is opening, loud enough for my camera to pick up on it and was once asked why I still count. Just keeping it fundamental to better ensure survival I guess… - Mykel AFF-I10 Skydiving Priorities: 1) Open Canopy. 2) Land Safely. 3) Don’t hurt anyone. 4) Repeat…
  10. What would cause the streamer on a round parachute? The reason I am asking is because maybe the cause is the same for both rounds and squares so they are called the same. ? ?
  11. Congrats, it is a cool feeling. You gonna scan and post the pic?
  12. Interesting note on those two, one had just started skydiving and the other had many years in the sport, lack of altitude awareness got em both. Some things experience dosent help with if you dont train enough/correctly... - Mykel AFF-I10 Skydiving Priorities: 1) Open Canopy. 2) Land Safely. 3) Don’t hurt anyone. 4) Repeat…
  13. I've been jumping since '80, and where I was, EVERYONE packed for themselves until the early '90s. The only mal's I have had had been packed by packers - I pack for myself almost always. Besides, I need the exercise. Still, whenever I have to use a packer I get my stuff ready as if I were going to pack it myself. Just to do all I can in case they overlook something.
  14. Yes.... But she's a 260. 260??? Wow, that is really old...
  15. I would sure like to know when this became a rule... OK it will save time if you stow your brakes and set your kill line but it is not YOUR responsibility. It will not only save time, but it will better ensure that the gear is properly configured before jumping again. Everyone makes mistakes, even packers that bust their asses all day long doing the job few people like to do. Also, no one puts the care and attentiveness that the person getting ready to jump will naturally put into it. If I am about to put a rig on my back to go and make a jump, it is my responsibility to do all I can to ensure that piece of equipment is ready to jump. I haven’t been in the sport long enough to remember the good old days when the Beatles were still together and packs were only a quarter, but being responsible for the gear as much as possible is what I teach students I work with anyway. That is just my own personal opinion. The USPAs is found in the FAR 105.43. A PCIT is a total malfunction... - Mykel AFF-I10 Skydiving Priorities: 1) Open Canopy. 2) Land Safely. 3) Don’t hurt anyone. 4) Repeat…
  16. Anyone still have those? I know of a couple guys. In fact one of em has a second rig for just that occasion. A big cruiselight packed to open VERY fast. Since no names are mentioned - how low do they go?
  17. Spend all your savings on skydiving, then run your credit to its limits and beyond so you can skydive more, then start skydiving for a living until you have a reason to return to the real world...
  18. Thanks, it was fun making it... Cold - Wet - Lots

  20. I remember student status: Had to WAIT for the winds to calm down. Had to WAIT for an instructor. Had to WAIT for the weekend. Had to WAIT for this, and WAIT for that!
  21. I change my closing loop if it is not in perfect condition. Often times, I will change my closing loop and the guy packing next to me will put it on their rig! Better safe than sorry. - Mykel AFF-I10 Skydiving Priorities: 1) Open Canopy. 2) Land Safely. 3) Don’t hurt anyone. 4) Repeat…
