Without getting into the 45 Debate – the time it took that beginner to calculate at the door when the last out was at 45 degrees it was likely (but maybe not) that enough time had elapsed to create adequate separation. This perspective implies that the 45 degree rule may sometimes work inadvertently... As we all progress in skydiving we learn and try new ideas and methods then shit-can some too. Later on the newbie will learn additional varying opinions about it; at least they are learning that separation is important and in time they might even learn to check the spot and stuff… - Mykel AFF-I10 Skydiving Priorities: 1) Open Canopy. 2) Land Safely. 3) Don’t hurt anyone. 4) Repeat…

Don't forget your "parachute"

2006 SIM Section 4 Page 75: 5. Clear and pull (AFF students.) a. A clear and pull is used for emergency exits and pre-planned low-altitude jumps. b. Use a familiar, stable exit technique. c. Present your hips to the relative wind and execute normal pull procedures (without wave-off ) to deploy within five seconds of exit. d. Expect the parachute to open in relation to the relative wind, not overhead as usual. e. The sequence consists of a clear and pull from two altitudes: (1) first from 5,500 feet (2) once successful, from 3,500 feet - Mykel AFF-I10 Skydiving Priorities: 1) Open Canopy. 2) Land Safely. 3) Don’t hurt anyone. 4) Repeat…

Nervous Husband - Wife jumping, please read
AFFI replied to Gretsch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That would mean there are less than 30,000 skydives annually. -
Different schools have different philosophies. Some use big docile canopies (Mantas) and some use ZP canopies such as Sabers and Navigators and start different students out on different sizes and wing loadings. The instructors at the school you will be learning at already have their philosophy figured out and will put you under a canopy that will be a good starting point for you in the type of system they utilize. So there is not a single answer from DZ to DZ. Have fun – and trust your instructors… - Mykel AFF-I10 Skydiving Priorities: 1) Open Canopy. 2) Land Safely. 3) Don’t hurt anyone. 4) Repeat…

Very large rig to fit very large person
AFFI replied to GPSJane's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
This has been discussed a lot - try a search... I am not quite sure what a kg is, but I have seen more than one person loose 50+ pounds to get through the student program. Is it possible to loose 15kg? - Mykel AFF-I10 Skydiving Priorities: 1) Open Canopy. 2) Land Safely. 3) Don’t hurt anyone. 4) Repeat… -
This story just does not add up... After experiencing a serious incident you don’t want to know more about what happened so you can prevent it from happening again? Saying something is rare and wont happen again in 10,000 jumps is absurd. Is it just me? _ Mykel AFF-I10 Skydiving Priorities: 1) Open Canopy. 2) Land Safely. 3) Don’t hurt anyone. 4) Repeat…

They call em that cuz it rymes and sounds funny? These are the only reasons I can think of because tagging the Stiletto as a problematic spinner is not an accurate statement. Not at all... Stiletto is a good canopy, fun preformance, recovers quickly - forgiving low to the ground. Can't go wrong with it as a good place to start your transition - PD is tried and true... - Mykel AFF-I10 Skydiving Priorities: 1) Open Canopy. 2) Land Safely. 3) Don’t hurt anyone. 4) Repeat…
